I go here a lot. Food is overall very good. The strudel is great. The atmosphere is usually very fun with live German music playing most of the time. Wait staff can be a little hit or miss from my experience. Otherwise, this would be 5 star.

Struggled with 2 or 1 stars… My party of 4 sat down, the waitress asked what we wanted to drink. One person was looking at the beer menu, and asked for another minute The waitress ROLLEDHEREYES, and walked away without another glance to the rest of us. Then we ordered dinner. The chicken & dumplings was not at all what was expected, and wouldn’t bother to order again. The Cordon Bleu was raw… Chicken raw is never good. Quietly called the waitress over(the room was full), without a word she took the plate and disappeared. A few minutes later came back and said, she’d be taking off the bill, and was something else wanted(never saying that entre would be free or not). 40 minutes later(40 minutes! When the room emptied!) the manager comes over to apologize, and make excuses for his chef. Never saying anything about«let me get you a free drink, or dessert). Make it right people. This first experience was enough to be my last.

Great to know places like this are still pulling in good business. Traditional German food prepared to perfection. They have an incredible beer selection and an atmosphere that can’t be beat. Bring your friends and family, as well as a health appetite!

This place has been here for as long as i can remember. I remember when the Chef Klaus would sit at the corner of the bar in his same chair all the time with his perfectly round beer belly just enjoying his customers and life. This is the most authentic German food I’ve ever had in the US and have been blessed to have had been raised in the area to appreciate this place. I’ve had just about everything a growing man would order on this menu. The atmosphere is a little overwhelming with all the knickknacks and hundreds of beer steins in cases and on shelves which cover up almost every single square inch of the walls. It’s usually always very busy and a tad loud in conversation because the tables are a little closer together than what I’m used too. My last visit, I ordered the Schnitzel Cordon Bleu. It’s a large ball of chicken with a ton of ham stuffed inside and then lightly breaded on the outside and fried. It is served on a plate with gravy. My sides were potato spatzle, red cabbage, and a simple side salad. All dinners come with 4 types of bread with flavored butter in a basket and a plate which contains cream cheese, liver patte, soft bread stick, and veggies. Everything was delicious! I would have wished my red cabbage wasn’t so mushy though as I like it more crunchy. I definitely recommend this place and the only reason I don’t give it 5 stars is because the prices are a little too aggressive. If the place was homier, more modern, and had more elbow room, then I’d be less technical about the pricing.

I travel for work, within the states & globally. I eat schnitzel as often as I can find a place that has it. Chef Klaus has the best! Only a couple placed in Switzerland have matched it.. . The German places weren’t as good.

Overall very good. This was our 1st time here for dinner but have been for lunch previously. Dinner was significantly better than our lunches. Service was above average but a little slow at times. Food was awesome but surprisingly there was too much, lol. Wish I’d realized there was so much as we could have shared. Potato pancakes were fairly oily but good. Desserts were beyond good. Overall a great experience and we will definitely return.

Great everything! Oysters rockefeller are huge and delicious. Steak tar tar is also a must have. Order anything and you most likely won’t be disappointed. Oh and make sure to get a stein of German beer and end your night with a European coffee.

5 Stars for Chef Klaus’ Bier Stube! I came to Chef Klaus’ for the first time with my boyfriend and his family. They have been visiting this place for years now. It was my boyfriends birthday and he was really craving some German cuisine! I’ll say it — I was a little nervous about trying Steak Tartar and Liver Dumpling Soup, but I was completely surprised by my amazing experience. The décor is very eclectic and perfectly synchronized with the overall atmosphere of the restaurant. We had liver wurst and steak tar tar to start us off for the night. The steak tar tar was amazing! I ordered the Weiner Schnitzel with creamed spinach, garlic mashed potatoes, and liver dumpling soup. I would highly recommend the Weiner Schnitzel for all of those who are trying for the first time! There are many options on the menu — however, this is a staple for those looking for basic German cuisine. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone and plan to go back very soon!

THIS is the most authentic German restaurant and the FINEST German cuisine you will find! I can see why some people say the space is a bit cramped(in the booths, especially,) but the delicious food makes up for it. Portions are large, so come hungry.

This is definitely a hidden gem due to its location in a plaza that has no curb appeal. However, this delicious surprise is a hit with me. I ordered cream of sauerkraut soup, and pork with paprika sauce, and potato dumpling. I started out with the nachos which had real cheese melted on them, not cheap canned cheese like most places. The sauerkraut soup was delicious and so different from anything I’ve had before. The sauerkraut wasn’t overpowering in this soup, it was just yummy! My entrée reminded me of a mexican dish called«mole«and like the mole, this dish packed a delicious taste!!! I skipped out on dessert but wish I hadn’t as the chef also makes in house dessert! They have an outdoor eatery with a cute little garden in front of it, it’s just so cute! I’m dying to come back and try the yummy beer menu!

Tonight some friends and I went to Chef Klaus’ restaurant on La Grange Rd. Two of the diners expressed disappointment in their meals. My pork chops were good, but the salad was primarily iceberg lettuce that had quite a number of pieces with rusted edges. It was a ‘mediocre’ dining experience.

No stars for this place but had to put one to post this… So…after I noticed the swastika in the military case on the way into dinner and was completely disgusted by this symbol of hate I was pretty angry with this restaurant… the kicker was a guy with a real Hitler mustache doing Heil hitler kicks with the guy playing live Bavarian music while i was eating dinner… i had family that was killed during the holocaust if that explains my point of view… .when I complained to the server… no apology… no explanation.

I am incredibly thankful that there is such a good German restaurant available. Chef Klaus’ Bier Stube is in a strip mall with a large parking lot. It’s not hip or trendy. It’s pretty kitschy. And hustling. Live music(yodelers) was piped through the speakers from the other room. Servers and guests bustled between tables. Everyone seemed happy. Kathleen M and I shared the Farmer’s Platter for Two. It was incredibly massive. It came with six meats, red cabbage, and sauerkraut. The red cabbage was my favorite. It was sweet and tangy. The meats were okay, but I wasn’t feeling them that evening. Others enjoyed them more than I did. M said that a few of the sausages were very good. The chocolate cake that we tried for dessert was incredible. Besides the red cabbage, this cake was my favorite.

Hello, FOODSNOB here. Can’t go wrong in this place. Bar and eating area were all together. Great atmosphere. Great Décor. Felt like I was in Germany. Tasted 2 different Schnitzels. Very tender and Tasty. Liver Dumpling Soup, Spatzele, German Potato Salad all tasted homemade. Apple Struedel tasted like it was just made in a Bakery. And the service was GREAT. Very friendly people. Even Chef Klaus came out and asked us how the meal was.

We’ve been coming to the Bier Stube since it was THE place to go in the old historic downtown section of Frankfort. After it was gutted by a fire in 2001, we were glad they re-opened nearby. Even though it’s now in a strip mall and doesn’t have the big outdoor beer garden that the old location boasted, the Bier Stube is still THE place to go for authentic German food and beer. The menu features traditional German dishes like schweinebraten(pork roast), sauerbraten(beef roast), sauerkraut, red cabbage, goulash, liver dumpling soup, and a variety of schnitzel(pork tenderloin) and sausages. There are also EIGHT different kinds of potato sides to choose from(spatzle, fried, dumplings, pancakes, mashed, roasted mashed, mashed sweet, du jour, and hot or cold potato salad). Even if you’re not of German heritage, you’ll love this place if your idea of a meal is heaping portions of meat and potatoes. All entrees come with a bread basket, a relish platter, soup or salad, and a vegetable and potato side of your choice. They also have less traditional offerings such as seafood and pasta if you’re not into German cuisine, and a lighter lunch/bar menu in the adjacent Rathskeller Lounge. On this visit, we split the sausage platter, which was $ 7 extra for the split but came with our own sides. Two 22-ounce steins of Spaten Oktoberfest and a giant piece of Double Chocolate Mousse Cake complemented everything nicely and put our tab at only about $ 60. Everything was delicious, and the service from our waitress Tina was great. The atmosphere of the Bier Stube is kitschy, over-the-top Bavarian, with the wait staff and musicians attired in beer-wench dresses and lederhosen; deer-antler chandeliers and steins hanging from the beams; live polka music; and tons of German/WWII memorabilia, even including a smattering of Nazi-related items.(Note: these articles are displayed as a historical reference, not as an indication of sympathy with that unfortunate part of Germany’s past. The Bier Stube’s founder Klaus Ditschler, who passed away in 2012, was a U. S. Army veteran who was stationed in Germany during the 1970s.) The Bier Stube is always packed, especially during Oktoberfest season, so reservations are recommended. Even then, you may have to wait a few minutes while they clean off your table. Also, don’t come here if you want a quiet, romantic, intimate dinner. It’s a beer hall, so expect lots of noise and laughter!

This will be short and half way sweet. I’d give it a 1 for host. He barely greeted us. I’d give the table service a 5. Stephanie was our server and she was quick, sweet, and efficient. I would give the food a 2. I had the Natur Schnitzel. Was covered in onions, mushrooms, and brown gravy. Had a double baked potato and salad. He had the Wiener Schnitzel, goulash soup, and fried potatos. We both had Spaten Oktoberfest. Beer was on a brand new keg. So good, our favorite. Food was lacking flavor. I would gove the ambiance a 4. Décor was like a dusty museum. Cool but worn out.

The hostess was nice and offered our small party of 4 one of the private sections in the back. The décor is great and the Hitler memorabilia were interesting. There were a lot of things on the menu to choose from with most entrees starting at $ 20. There were 13 different pork tenderloin Schnitzel dishes on the menu between $ 21-$ 25. You can get a veal Schnitzel for $ 3 more. I ordered from the Monday & Tuesday Evening Specials Menu when I came here for dinner. The Shrimp and Scallop Primavera was good and the portion was huge for $ 21. It even comes with a choice of soup or salad. I went with the liver dumpling soup, which was divined. The broth and dumpling were flavorful and delicious. The beer menu has a variety of German beer and craft beer. Before dinner comes out, the waiter brought over a complimentary snack plate filled with carrots, celery, onion, bread and liver sausage. It was all pretty good.
