The Grainery in Frankfort has been a local landmark for over 100 years and hearkens back to the day when agriculture was king and railroads moved the products. It used to be an actual grain elevator where local farmers stored products before it was shipped out on railroad cars. It is located along the old railroad line, near the reproduction of the station. It is still working hard today with weather and cell phone towers perched atop of it. The flag is also an easy weather indicator, it shows readily which way the wind is blowing. I love the symbol of my town which shows how we have moved from farming to cell phones. Wait, I hear mine ringing — clear reception because of this local delight.
