After finding out both my son and daughter had lice I went into semi panic mode. I got a prescription shampoo called in by my doctor but after being told the price was $ 400 I decided to go with a couple of boxes of the OTC stuff. That of course didn’t work and my daughter, who has extremely think and curly hair, still had live bugs and more nits than I could count or remove myself. After panicking for the umteenth time I decided to look online and research what my sister in law calls«lice fairies.» I found quite a few companies that treat lice but most are located either in Chicago or the northern suburbs. After I read a couple of reviews on Unilocal,I decided to give Jeanne a try. She had been working on a family of 5 when I called but was able to schedule us for later that day. She even texted me to let me know that she got finished a little sooner than she thought and that we were able to come a little earlier. Jeanne made us feel comfortable as soon as we stepped through the door. Her little«salon» was comfortable for adults and prefect for kids. She had plenty of games, books, crayons and movies to keep antsy kids occupied. Her prices were comparable to some of the other places I saw and really I ended up spending close to what I would have paid for the prescription shampoo. But what I would not have gotten was someone who knew exactly what they were doing and offered a guarantee as well! If we ever have the misfortune of having to deal with this again, I will immediately be calling Jeanne and making an appointment! Thank you Jeanne!!!

Also my first experience with head lice. I was unaware that this service even existed. I tried for 4 days to get control of this before someone mentioned it to me. I stumbled up on Jeanne and thank God and the heavens above for that. My daughter has very long very thick, very very thick hair. Well worth the price for her services. I cant even put a price on the peace of mind I finally had after leaving her shop. She is very friendly and makes you feel at ease instantly. Being a family of 5 the task seems overwhelming and never-ending, and if you are not 100% successful on combing it most certainly will be. She eliminates that fear and hopelessness. I highly recommend her and hope to never see her professionally again! Thank you Jeanne!

My husband’s face was pale. «Babe,» he began. I could tell the news wasn’t good. I sunk slowly into a chair. «She has them. I’m sure of it. Positive, even. She has lice.» I felt the color drain from my own face. Surely he must be wrong. This can’t be! Lice? Lice?! No. Nooooo! I don’t do «bugs». I don’t camp. I don’t particularly enjoy hikes in the forest. I hate mosquitos. Lice?! On my kid’s head? NOFXCKINGWAY. After sending my lice-riddled daughter out to play so she wouldn’t witness mommy’s meltdown, I flipped out and somehow – by Divine Intervention, maybe? – wound up finding the number for Midwest Lice Specialists & passing it to my husband who called immediately. He spoke with Jeanne who was lovely & reassuring and secured my daughter an appointment for that same night. I then put the kids and pets on the front lawn, doused the whole place with gasoline, and tossed a match on my way out the door. Kidding, but I certainly thought about it. (Look, I have five kids who play together constantly and truly felt like it would be OMGZLICEFOREVERYONEFOREVER. It wasn’t. My biggest kid – and only son – shaved his head a few days later when we discovered a few nits, but so far… it’s been contained to the two kids. KNOCKINGONWOOD . But I digress…) The treatment was two parts: heat & oil and took about two hours with the length and thickness of my daughter’s hair. Jeanne was amazing – she’s a mom & she gets it – and my daughter was given a snack and a little stuffed animal & was as happy as could be. The cost was $ 165, but get this: it’s one treatment only… guaranteed. Totally & completely worth the price paid. She gave us tips for delousing the house and while it’s honestly been quite a bit of work, it’s entirely worth it to keep our crib lice-free. In short, I hope to never ever ever ever EVER have to go through this again, but if I do? Midwest Lice Specialists all the way. PS — Their motto is «bug off!». But seriously, though… #nailedit
