This is a fun hike, which will lead you to an interesting historic quarry filled in with water, a cool place for swimming in the summer. The granite from the quarry has built many iconic structures in America, including the Washington Monument, the U.S. Senate Office Building, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the United Nations Building, the Philadelphia Mint, the Empire State Building, and several piers that support the Brooklyn Bridge. I’ve been hiking up to this quarry since my childhood. It can be a dangerous place if you’re not careful. There’s some broken glass and high cliffs. With that being said, I’ve been swimming in the Quarry many times and never had issues. It’s an okay hike for kids, but they should be with adults for safety. This place is a lotta fun for teens; all throughout high school, my friends and I would visit frequently in the summer.

Mt. Waldo in Frankfort, Maine. Just a beautiful place to hike. There is a trail at the end of Mt. Waldo Road up the side of the mountain and at the top is an old quarry. Check out the pics!
