What an awesome winery!!! The drive to the tasting room was so gorgeous! You go through a beautiful huge farm. I loved looking at the horses and even made friends with their pet dogs :) Prodigy Vineyards and Winery is located in the heart of the Bluegrass on the Peach Family Farm. Centrally located in Woodford County, KY where great thoroughbred race horses are foaled, and raised. They have been growing their own grapes for over 10 years. The tasting room is spacious and loved the dark bold colors and décor. They have different seating-tables and couches. Along with that they have a boutique shop. My friend and I sat at the bar. The staff was super friendly and very knowledgeable on their wines. Wine tastings are $ 5.00 which you choose 6 different wines from the list– 1 oz pours(excludes ice wine section) and you get to keep the stemless logo glass after the tasting. My preference is dry reds so this is what I tried: –Meritage Blend which is an american bordeaux-style wine with soft tannin. –Lemberger Estate– Dry, medium-bodied, with soft, approachable tannins. Barrel 9 months. –Chambourcin– Dry, Medium-bodied with oak on the finish. This was my favorite from the list. –Cabernet Franc– A dry, medium-bodied red with rounded mouth-feel with soft tannins. –Cabernet Sauvignon– Their driest red wine, which is medium bodied with a dry finish. My 2nd favorite. –Norton-Dry Red wine– dry with complex tannins. I was not a huge fan of this wine, but it was okay. Their pricing is very reasonable which starts off $ 12.99+. Besides wine tastings, they do offer by the glass or flights(each wine category different pricing). They also have live contemporary music on fridays(free), events, and a wine club. I really enjoyed my time at Prodigy and highly recommend you drop by to try their wines! The staff is so down to earth!

Let me start by saying, this is the farm and not the tasting room down the road about 1.5 miles down the road toward the interstate. I decided to attend the«Sip & Savor» with live music last night and had some fellow Unilocalers/friends meet me there. I figured it would be a great way to wind down my week. It definitely was. Music, snacks, booze, and great company is always a perfect kick off to a great weekend. It is a quick 20 minute drive from Lexington up Interstate 64. The entrance to the Vineyard and Winery are beautiful and about 2 miles off the Interstate. The long winding road is lined with grape vines and open farmland. Such a pretty and breathtaking entrance. Once you arrive in the parking area, there are 2 buildings on either side. This is where I think they could use better signage. I didn’t know where to actually go to once I parked. I just walked in between the 2 buildings and kept walking until I heard a guitar and smelled a smoking grill. On this specific night, they had live music and were grilling out. I ended up sitting on the covered patio area with some friends and ordered a dry red wine tasting. The staff are all attentive and friendly. They served us some local beer cheese and pretzels, both were quite tasty. With their tastings, you get to keep the wine glass with the Prodigy Vineyards and Winery logo on it. Nice little souvenir. We ended up ordering a cheese/cracker tray and a bottle of Norton. While we were there, the owner came out and chatted with us a bit. Telling us how their winery came into being. From the idea, to a hobby, to a business. Call it the geek in me, but I love that. I think it is awsome when an owner takes the time to come out and mingle with patrons and talk about their business. As the night wined down, the sun sank in the sky, the wine bottles emptied, and the musician stopped playing. We grabbed all of our gear and paid our tabs after getting another bottle of Nortons to go.

I have tried their wines on a few occasions and I’d attempted to stop in at the tasting room a few times, on my way to Louisville. The hours never worked out. I was ecstatic when a friend invited me to join a group for one of the free music Friday night events. I think it’s every Friday 6:30 — 8:30. Last night it was outside in the pavilion like covered patio area on the farm. I think that’s where it’ll be held while the weather permits. The musicians rotate and the one playing last night was good. Even though it’s in Frankfort, the tasting room is only a mile from the interstate. So it’s quite convenient for us Lexingtonians. The tasting room is on the right, next to the candy shop. When we pulled in to the tasting room we noticed the sign posted that said«closed but the farm is open» and there was an arrow pointing to the farm. The farm on the opposite side of the road, a mile from the tasting room. The farm/vineyard is now open on Sundays 1 – 5. I think that eventually they are going to open the vineyard for more hours. It’s a family run business and they had small kids when they first opened, so I don’t blame them at all for limiting the farm hours. The owners are very nice, down to earth people. The farm is one of the most gorgeous vineyards I’ve ever seen. It’s very well kept and would be a beautiful venue for a wedding, reunion, or graduation party. Tardy is the farm mascot, he is beautiful blonde senior horse and he roams freely, adding to the bluegrass aesthetic. Last night I got a bottle of Chardonnay and it was perfect. Smooth and not acidic at all. The wait staff were attentive and friendly. They even brought out local beer cheese and pretzels. They had Kentucky Ale Bourbon barrel so my husband was content. Oh, and they have a Unilocal check-in special, so make sure that you check-in.

I did like this place at first. Until the wine tasting took 43 minutes for 6 wines. When trying to hit multiple wineries in the area in a timely manor, this is unsat. When I asked for the price for a hand carved piece of art shortly after arriving, she says«let me text him but, he’s probably drunk already». Apparently she’s not a fan of the rose either cause she made quite the face when I asked for it. I was ready to drop a couple Benjamin’s on this art piece. By the time we finally rolled out I just wanted to leave. The wines were run of the mill, nothing special. We were interested in buying one or two, until it took forever. When we checked out she didn’t even ask is if we wanted separate bills. She was too busy talking about wrapping gifts with the people clearly taking their time and watching the game.

Prodigy wines have been offered at several events I attended, but my first visit to the tasting room was during their holiday open house. It can be easitly missed by the obscure location, although on a well traveled. road. My go-to wine is Shiraz, unavailable at Prodigy, so I tasted the reds, which were quite palatable. Friendly, amiable owners and staff. I wish only that they would move the tasting room to the farm across the road where the ambience would better serve their wines and make for a better all-around experience.

One of the best tasting wines near Lexington, ky. I honestly enjoyed all of my tastings & the owners were there pouring our tastings & cooking us lunch. On Mondays they feature a lunch special sandwich with a glass of wine for around $ 10. I had the chicken salad sandwich & it was very good. Very nice people, great wine & a fantastic time. We will be back. I would def recommend you give them a try! Cheers & enjoy

My friends took me to Prodigy when I was visiting my home state. I cannot say enough great things about this place! The Vignoles(white wine) was delicious & perfectly accompanied the beer cheese platter. The owners were so welcoming & generous! If you are in the mood to have a delicious glass /bottle of wine or to buy an unusual, Kentucky-flavored gift, this is your place. They also have live music on the weekends. A+++++

I went here with a few friends for a wine tasting. We visited four winery’s in a day and this was my least favorite of the four. I had four reds and they were kind of bland to be honest. I like a really dry red and those just weren’t cutting it. The beer cheese was really good but fairly expensive!

Winery was better than average but slightly overpriced. The lady worker was friendly and the giftshop had some neat things to look through

After a weekend of bourbon tasting I was looking for a change of pace. This place is very cute with a fun boutique attached to to a wine tasting room. Nothing was worth shelling out cash for, but the tasting was fun and it was interesting to talk to the locals in there about the area.

Apparently on Sunday’s the tasting room is closed but the actual winery is open. You can’t miss it with the huge purple sign outside that says wine tasting open! The winery is a little unassuming, the look is more of a farm than a winery. We weren’t sure where to go at first but the signs directed us to the barn. The inside was very cool, there were several tables inside surrounded by the tanks that they make their wine in. Such a great atmosphere. Now for the tasting… for $ 5 you get 6 tastings and you get to keep your glass. The staff is very accommodating and friendly. They knew we were hungry and kept bringing oyster crackers. There were several people serving us so they kinda lost count of our pours and we got a couple more than 6 pours each. I will definitely be back next time in in the area!

This tasting room is in a strange location since it isn’t on a vineyard but isn’t in a well traveled spot either. I felt like we were in a small strip mall in the middle of nowhere, but as soon as we walked in we were pleasantly surprised at how nice the tasting room was! It looks like they host lots of events here and it was fun that they had TVs with sports on. The wine pourer was very friendly and had some good information for us about the wine. There were only a few dry wines and they weren’t great(I think I’m seeing a trend here in KY) but some of their semi-sweet whites were really good! My boyfriend was quite embarrassed to be caring out a bag of wine wrapped in leopard print tissue paper and pink bag, but besides that we enjoyed our visit here.

The inside was nothing like I expected from the outside. It’s brand new and well decorated, opposing the country strip mall where it’s located. The tasting room really appeals to both sexes. Huge flat screens are everywhere(including the bathrooms) with sports. If you look around, you feel a little like you’re inside a leopard-print gift basket. They have live music in the late afternoons on weekend, but call to make sure. $ 5 tasting includes the glass, and you get to sample 6 of about 14. Not my favorite wines, especially the reds. Most of the whites tend a little sweeter, but they’re pretty good. The girl pouring was nice and knowledgeable. Sure to return.
