Terrible Terrible Terrible! Women especially beware, if you are like me and are a novice when it comes to cars, you are a target at this place. I went in and specifically told them that I thought I had a transmission problem, that there was a knock/​thump when I put the car in reverse and sometimes when I accelerated. Mike the counter guy/​partner had a «mechanic» look at it and said that there was no problem with the transmission but it needed new wheel bearings. Charged me for two to the tune of almost $ 900. I paid the bill, left, got in my car and it still did the same thing. Called Mike back and told him it was still doing the same thing, he told me he test drove it himself and there was no problem. I ended up taking it to someone that a family member referred me to and my car was diagnosed immediately with transmission problems. So now, $ 900 poorer, have to replace my transmission. I really believe they are a very dishonest business, stay away!

If I could do a zero I would. Best advise is run away and don’t take your car here. Went in for brakes and rotors. After a couple months my car started shaking, I took it back and they insisted it wasn’t my breaks and rotors since I just had replaced. Mike (creepy front counter guy) gave off a laundry list of things that should be replaced, $ 699 worth of things! I then went to another Tuffys Location for a second opinion. They couldn’t believe what the Frankfort location was doing and manager actually called the location and told them they have to replace my brakes and rotors again and they were not installed correctly which is why I’m having this problem in the first place. The manager of the location apologized repeatedly to me and stated that this isn’t the first time people have came to him because they’ve had issues with the Frankfort location. I wish I found the Tinley location first as they were very professional.
So went and took my car back over to Frankfort again for it to be there for 3 hours and I call to see if it was done and then was told they broke my lug nuts! Ugh would never recommended this location to anyone ever. Mike the counter guy tells racist jokes, talks to you like a bully as he is very persistent you have to buy other services that your car must need. I don’t see how this man is in business.

I put new struts on my car myself and went to this shop to get an alignment. They charged me $ 90 but didn’t align it because supposedly it needed more work and couldn’t be done yet. I was also told I have a vibration in my brakes around 70 – 80. Wait, I don’t even drive my car 80 — why did you abuse my car like that in order for me to get an alignment? I took my car to my trusted mechanic the very next day (he doesn’t do alignments unfortunately). He showed me on his lift — my car needs absolutely NO work on the parts they cited or any others that could affect alignment. Looking through other reviews for this location, there appears to be a pattern of lying coming from this shop. Like other reviewers, I also experienced the language, abrasiveness, and talking down to me by the counter guy. Stay far, far away.

Are you masochistic? Do you like to be taken advantage of? Well, then Tuffy Tire and Auto in Frankfort is the place to go. This place is way South of being reputable. I took my Chevy in for a simple oil change. The next thing I know, I’m getting phone calls from the service rep stating that, according to the mechanic that worked on my car, I need $ 400.00 worth of additional engine work done on the car. I had a ‘tune up’ previously performed less than 2500 miles ago at a competitors shop. This place puts a capital ‘S’ in SCAM … Stay away from this (dis)service center … Check area prices … You will find they are much lower for the same work. I guarantee it.

This is obviously other a well run professional shop. As I am waiting to be helped the guy behind the counter is telling a racist joke on the phone and doesn’t seem to care who can hear. I had a 11:00 appointment and they didn’t start to look at the car till 1:30. When they are finished they tell me that the original struts and springs are worn out and need replacing prior to checking the alignment which is what I came in for. Problem is that the struts and springs were replaced by me less than 20k miles ago. I do most of the work on my cars so I know bs when I hear it. My mistake was not checking Unilocal prior to going, they have a bad history. DO NOT RECOMMEND!

I had my fiancé go there in Aug 2015 for a simple oil change. Discount flyer. She left with a diagnosis of a lot more than she would ever expect. The owner Mike had told her that her brakes were bad and need to be changed NOW. not now or as soon as possible. NOW was his diagnosis which mind you Mike is not the technician he was the ring out person. He explained that the brakes were in such bad shape and told the they do that service there.$$$
My resolution I had replaced her brakes in Jan 2015. rotors and pads all the way around. So to prove they are misinforming their clients I went to PEP Boys for a free inspection and requested the Measurements compared to specks. Well I called Mike the owner of that Tuffy Tire & Auto Service Center 20 250 South La Grange Road, Frankfort, IL and explained that because of his misinformation to me Fiancé I had wasted 3 hours of my time and mind you the fright my Fiancé had for two days that her brakes were bad. Result was the brakes had more than half there life span left and Mike insisted he did not tell her NOW he said the paperwork said it should be inspected. THEY ARE ON NOTICE. Please get a second opinion it will save you hundreds.

Don’t go to this place. Mike is a liar and creepy. Annoyed if you use coupons… acts like he’s doing you a favor when you’re paying him… told me to come back next day for rotation then acted like he didnt… I don’t have time to play games. My 4 year old and I told him he’s a liar and rude and got our tires rotated elsewhere… ntb is cheaper… quicker…not creepy. Good luck staying in business…

After this review was posted I did receive a phone call offering an apology and two free oil changes. I never went In for the oil changes so I cannot comment on their work. But I increased the rating to three stars for the follow up.

Good place for a basic oil change, you can usually get it done with a coupon for around $ 20. Any other work compare prices and you’ll find out this is not the place to go.

Avoid avoid. just another tire rip off joint.
I was a customer years ago, I thought I would give them a try with the cheap 19.99 oil and tire rotation. You get what you pay for.
THEY NEVER ROTATED MY TIRES!!!
I am going to another reputable oil place tomorrow to verify that they even changed my oil.
oh and my oil n tire change ended up costing over 30.00!
Try Van Dams or Gamboas in Mokena. Been there for years.
Greg is all talk and no action, not even sure if hes the real owner.

Greg was extremely willing to help and very knowledgeable. I would recommend his shop.

This shop is under new ownership. The owner, Greg, is extremely knowledgeable and the service was fantastic. He’s a car guy and will happily show you the underside of your car while it’s on the rack and explain its wear and tear.
