It’s tough living only 10 minutes away from here, due to the fact that I’m always looking for excuses to buy yarn. Service is very friendly and helpful, and there’s a fantastic selection of fabrics! Another great part is that it’s right near the Shire Book Shop, so you can get your book fix, too! One word of caution: If you’re need a large amount of yarn, they do not always have enough of the same color in stock, but they’ll be more than happy to special-order what you need. Also, I’ve noticed their selection of knitting needles/crochet hooks has been iffy lately, but their selection of sewing supplies is very good. What’s also great about this store is that they have lots of stuff for kids, as well as gift items, buttons, notions, et cetera.

What a fantastic shop. It is massive. It is a destination. And I am so lucky that I live less than 10 minutes away! They have pretty much everything that a crafty person needs/wants: classes; garment fabrics; beautiful leather remnants; an exciting remnants bin that often has incredible vintage deadstock; so many notions!; great quilting fabrics from designer lines(Rowan, Anna Maria Horner, Amy Butler, Denyse Schmidt, Moda, etc.); home dec fabrics; YARN!; and so much more. +Great staff. +There’s something different here every time. It’s fun to just roam around! +Free parking! This is definitely worth a trip if you’re not from the area!

I can’t believe I haven’t reviewed this little gem before. Maybe I was trying to keep it from prying eyes? Franklin Mill Store is located right next to the commuter rail in Franklin, in a refurbished mill(a-doye) turned into a whole bunch of cool places. It is mainly a fabric and upholstery store, but there is also a sizable selection of yarns, which is my main interest. There are a lot of baby yarns, and specialty yarns(do not confuse this with novelty yarns). If you are knitting a sweater or afghan, this is the wrong place for you. You’ll have a hard time finding a lot of the same yarn, although I’m sure the kind employees would be able to order it for you. However, if you’re looking to gift someone some yarn, or pick up some fiber for a small project, looking through the mill store is a delight. They have lots of lovely notions, too. The quilting and apparel fabrics are expensive, but one of a kind. If you’re looking for something different than the usual calico prints, look here. The staff is incredibly friendly and very helpful, but they let you wander without a lot of pushy customer service. They package up your purchases as if each one is special, because it is! Spending an hour at the Franklin Mill Store will lower your blood pressure(not verified by science).

I’ve known this store for years now. I am one of those knitters who appreciate internet shopping so I have not been to this store for at least a year. I had a gift card from last Christmas, I stopped by to pick up some small items. I was really shocked to see the decrease of inventory, especially yarn, sewing machines and pattern books. Or maybe I got spoiled by variety net shops offer. They had great selection of fabrics and interior decorating items, I hope they are doing well enough business to survive this economy. It will be nice if they can carry more upscale yarn, cashmere, alpaca in unique colors instead of loads of rather boring sock yarn.

Great selection of quilting and decorator/upholstery fabrics. Couldn’t ask for more! Since I have found this place — I keep going back!
