I called on a Thursday morning to ask if they had availability for a Saturday afternoon move. The receptionist said they were finishing a job earlier than planned and they could do Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m. She quoted me $ 99/hour for 3 men. I told her I was moving from a house to a smaller apartment, had no appliances, but did have a king size bed/mattress/box springs and suite. The moving truck pulled up Saturday morning at 9:00. Three men got out of it. Another regular truck parked on the side street and a fourth guy got out, smoking a cigarette. The other three men came inside and I began showing them the items to be moved. As I looked back out the door the fourth man was walking up my driveway, still smoking. My driveway is not very long, and when I turned back around he walked into my house, exhaling a cloud of smoke. Clearly he had tossed his cigarette onto my drive or in my bushes. I was not happy. The guy in charge said, «Here’s the contract, for four men, it’s $ 130/hour.» I didn’t say anything, so he said, «Or we can do the other quote of 3 men at $ 99/hour, but it will take longer.» I looked at the guy still standing in a cloud of smoke and told him we were sticking with the original quote. The fourth guy turned around and left. Both the smoking and the attempt to bait and switch me into paying more annoyed me. Two of the guys start picking up the mattress and box springs to put them on the truck. I looked inside the truck– it’s pretty dirty, and there weren’t any floor coverings, blankets, or anything to put them on. I asked them if they had covers or something to put over my mattress so it wouldn’t get dirty, and the guy said, «I wasn’t told to bring any covers. You have to order those beforehand. They cost $ 35/cover.» I’ve moved a few times, but this was the first time I’d heard that. I asked if he would at least put moving blankets down so he agreed to do that. As he walked past me, I could again smell smoke. I told him I needed a favor, and that neither the house I was leaving nor the apartment(in a house) I was moving to allowed smoking. I asked that no one smoke during the rest of the move, not even in the truck on the drive over. He looked somewhat surprised, but agreed. I am extremely sensitive to smoke. Even if I weren’t, I thought it was completely unprofessional to arrive at a move smoking(as in walk to the front door with cigarette in mouth). The other two guys took almost 30 minutes to take apart the frame from the headboard. If I had known it would take that long, I would have done it myself. I had pointed out two antique pieces I need to be handled carefully, and they started to move one without wrapping or covering it. I pointed that out, so they went and got the wrap and took their time doing that. Once everything was loaded, we headed to the new place. I will say I expected them to take a while to get to the new place, but was pleasantly surprised when they pulled up a few minutes behind me. The walkway down to the apartment was somewhat muddy, and since they didn’t seem to have anything to put down to walk on in the apartment, I had them just bring items to the door and I then moved them to their spot inside. So I was actually doing some of the work for them. The mattress has handles on the sides, but they are to help with moving the mattress around on the bed, they are not for carrying the mattress. But because they did use them to carry the mattress a good ways, it ripped the handles. Not pleased with that either. All told, it took almost three hours. They do count the driving time from their office, but I feel like they took a little more time than they should have. One of the guys used the bathroom at the the old place and the new one. Not a big deal, but he did leave the toilet seat up. Just one more item I would put under not the best professional practices. Had nothing else happened, I wouldn’t have given it a second thought. I called the office a week later to tell them my experience. The receptionist, the original one I spoke to, was surprised to hear a fourth man had shown up, and she didn’t seem to know who he was when I described him. That seemed very odd. When I mentioned the smoking, she did somewhat apologize but said something about that being a client’s personal preference. Maybe, but from a company serving the Williamson county area for that many years, I was surprised she put it that way. I highly doubt any customers have called to complain that their houses/furniture DIDN’T smell like smoke after the move. Again, she did apologize but did nothing in any effort to compensate for the less than stellar experience. I do like to use local companies whenever possible, but for all the reasons stated above, I would not recommend this company.

I can’t say enough good things about Franklin Movers. They gave us a very reasonable rate compared to other companies, arrived 10 min early, and worked hard. Our move for a 4 bedroom house was finished by mid afternoon. Would highly recommend them!

Horrible service, booked them for a moving at 6:30 pm, we had to call them 4 more times after 6:30 to get hold of them, later they texted us saying that they will be 15min late and never showed up. We texted and tried calling them never got hold of them. Do not rely on their word. I will never use their service again nor I recommend them to anyone.

These guys added a second truck without asking that wasn’t necessary. They then gouged us on rate for this truck. We had worked very diligent organizing to reduce costs only t watch their guys ride the clock to add to the overall bill. I will NOT use this company again !
