Hamilton’s Catering

We were there for a wedding reception. Very nice venue– looked great, food was good, and there was plenty of staff to make things go smoothly. Very impressed.

Great place for meetings, receptions, they really work hard to accommodate.

If I could give this place 4.5 stars, I would.
Hamilton’s is Old School Jacksonville. It really takes you back. The rooms are beautifully decorated (ignore the plastic ficus in the corners) and the food is good.
For formal occassions, if you want china instead of paper or styrofoam plates, you have to pay extra, which I think kinda blows. I mean, if you’re holding a wedding or formal event in a place this nice, you’re not gonna skimp on the serveware. The skeptical side of me sees it as an extra up-​charge.
I’ve never met anyone who held an event here who was dissatisfied with the quality of service they received. They always rave about the personal service and quality of care from the staff. Gina Hamilton is a gem, a real gem! She takes care of you like her own.
The last wedding I went to, the bartender was kind of a schlub. I asked for an amaretto sour, he said, «Uuuhh,» and looked to see if he could do it. I asked for another drink, and got the same response. Finally I decided I was approaching this the wrong way, and asked what he COULD do. Without question, he said, «fruit juice and vodka», so I ordered a Cape Cod. He said, «Uuuuuhhh???» and I had to tell him to pour some cranberry juice and vodka together. Not hard, man! For the price you’re paying, you’d think that they could get a bartender, even for 4 hours, who could put together a few drinks.
So, aside from the styrofoam and the clearly inexperienced bartender, this is a great review. Would be 5 stars if not for those two things.

Classy place, so historic. (since 1913). I was there for an event in the Fireside Room. Walked past a door that said «Fur Coats Only». Wow. They sure don’t make em like they used to. The soup & sandwich spread was pretty good too… wonderful cream of broccoli.
It’s a nice, nice place. I think if you planned to have something there, it’s pretty unlikely you’d be disappointed.
