I’ll admit, this isn’t for the faint of heart. Or the seeing. Just close your eyes and eat it. Don’t use the bathroom. Don’t look in the kitchen. Do get the chicken taco and the beef taco. Don’t get sides. That’s not why you are here. You won’t be sorry or skinnier. You can point to what you want at the menu. Or say your order in Spanish. If you were raised in Alabama before 2000 and don’t know any Spanish, this is your only option. Get a coke from Mexico out of the fridge. they use real sugar and taste better than American coke. Follow it up with Ice cream next door. It is all homemade. Again, just point to what you want.

Can you say authentic!!! This place is the real deal Mexican style food. Since I moved to Tennessee from California I have found its very hard to fine anything near good or authentic Mexican food around here. Thank God I found Oscars Taco Shop off Columbia Avenue. That place has been giving me my weekly fill of dank Mexican food for about a year now. I have driven past Tacos Y Mariscos Lupe multiple times over the past few years and NEVER even considering stopping by to see whats up. I was with a bunch of friends tonight and we were feeling Mexican food. We were going to hit up Pueblo Real of West Main, but they were super busy and we were not about to wait 45 minutes. A friend suggested going to Lupe. So I found myself sitting in the little whole in the wall place with pink walls and disturbing Spanish TV blasting. I have to admit… It was not a good vibe at all inside. I was questionable about eating the food that was going to be cooked in this establishment. I was VERY hungry though, so I was not about to not try out this place! I’m always down for an adventure and trying new things! I ordered a steak burrito. It came with rice, beans, and Mexican salad on the side. Overall the burrito was fantastic. The meat was very tasty and very quality. The burrito was just like something I would find at a little taco stand in little Mexico back home. The beans were home made(not from a can and filled with lard). They were very tasty and authentic. The rice was delightfully tasty as well! Overall the meal was excellent! I would recommend this place for sure! Don’t let the appearance fool you. We cant judge a book by its cover as I have learned all to well in my life personally.
