The Hidden Gem Cafe

I had to show a star rating for this post, but this restaurant is no longer open. It is now Corbin’s Country Buffet. I’ve not eaten there, but I’ve heard good reviews.

this is the restaurant formerly known as ‘the chef and his wife”. AND i’m guessing since the sign says something to the effect of ‘the chef’s ex-​wife presents.” that the divorce wasn’t on the most amicable of terms.
divorce or not, the food is pretty much the same though.
overall, this is a pretty good place to have lunch place and an alright place to have dinner.
i always get the portabello mushroom sandwich w/​roasted red bell peppers and balsamic vinaigrette. it’s delicious, but the one thing that always bothered me is that they don’t take the gills of the mushrooms. this adds an unwanted bitter flavor. the sandwich would be perfect if they would just take the extra prep time.
the crab cakes are also good. really large, lots of crab meat, but a little too mayonnaisey to be something i love rather than really like.
they have a really good selection of salads and homemade soups.
as for dinner… i have been a few times, but it isn’t really worth it. i went there once with a major duck craving and it was so greasy that i was put off duck for a LONG time. i have, however, heard that their steaks are really great and their wild sausage plate looks really interesting. i have a thing for sausage, as you know.
head there for lunch, which i recommend… but maybe not so much for dinner.
