This place is a gem out in the middle of nowhere. Locals know. If you come here during lunch time on Sundays, you will find a packed house and the place is huge. You can order a la carte steaks and they are really pretty good. They are not like the best steak houses in New Orleans but the price for what you get is better than anywhere. They have been here for what seems like forever. The big attraction are their buffets and the Sunday one is the largest one. Do not come here if you do not like coutry-style food or fried food. It is not that you cannot find anything else to eat. You will find good gumbos and other soups and vegetables and grilled/baked/steamed fish and beans, etc. Its that there is a lot of fried food so you might feel like it is all fried. The fried okra, the fried corn, the fried sweet potatoes, and the list goes on and on… is all scrumptious and you will probably want to eat it. The buffet is huge and you will probably find things you like unless you are extremely picky. If you decide to go, try going a bit on the early side. People around here like to eat and the food starts vanishing after and hour or two… It makes for a nice outing on a weekend driving through the hill country up there. And the people are usually nice although the servers can be in a bit of a rush. Normally they will take the time to chat if they can at all do it. They have quite a few waitresses, so you will not be lacking of attention.
