I think the food just got better after they have been closed during mud season. My Tacos Mexacli improved– the quality of the steak and they had more steak in the tacos were so delicious. Oh and the place was remodeled with new tables and chairs. I really like Azteca!

Do you like to wait a long time for service? Do you enjoy food staff sticking their fingers into your dish? Do you crave the hostility with a side of irritation to come from your servers? Do you love Taco Bell so much that if you don’t go to Taco Bell, you want to go to a place that is just LIKE Taco Bell? If your answer to any of these questions is «yes,» then this place is for you! Otherwise, go elsewhere. Literally. ANYWHERE else. Sushi at a gas station would probably be a safer bet. Our experience began when my friend and I walked in to secure us a table(there were four of us total, with two medium-sized dogs). We were starving and wanted a place to eat before heading a 1.5hr+ back home. They have a decent sized patio section, so we asked if we could possibly have a table near the edge, so we could tie our dogs to the OUTSIDE of the dining area(away from other guests), but still not have them sit in the hot car. The person who«greeted» us was giving us an unnecessarily hard time about that. Fine, not everyone likes dogs, so we’ll let that one slide. While the rest of the party sat down, I went to use the restroom. At the point when I came back to the table, it had been 5−7minutes after we were seated and I asked the table if they already brought up menus. Which they hadn’t. Again, as a reasonable person, I would expect there to be slower service if the place was busy. There was one other table sitting outside with us and two inside. And they already had their meals, so I am not sure what was so important that it delayed us getting the menus. Especially, since we were already served the chips and salsa before even having a menu in our hands. Ok, fine. So I went to the front and got them myself. Ten or so minutes later(again…WHAT is taking you so long?), the server shows up with the most annoyed look on his face and asks us what we want. We ordered some queso, my friend ordered a quesadilla, her husband a burrito, and I got a «two tacos small dish.» Nowhere was there presented a choice of meat I could have on my tacos, so I assumed(my mistake, I guess?) that it would be like any other Mexican restaurant, so I asked for Carne Asada. The waiter frowned and said«you can’t have that.» «So…what ARE my choices?» «Chicken, shredded pork(extra charge) or ground beef.» «Beef it is, then!» We should have left when we saw that the queso was actually runnier than soup. But we carried on. Then the waiter came back with our meals… The«two taco» dish that I got literally looked like they got two tacos from Taco Bell, dumped some refried beans from a can on the plate, and put some expired cabbage salad(literally a TEASPOON of it) in there for«decoration.» When I say that these tacos looked like«Taco Bell» tacos, I am not exaggerating. Never have I been to a Mexican restaurant(or a restaurant that claims to be Mexican) that served their tacos on a crunchy shell(except Taco Bell), unless specifically asked. The inside of the taco had ground beef, lettuce, and cheese(sound familiar, Taco Bell lovers?). Lucky for me, I do enjoy Taco Bell, so I was okay eating the first taco. But it tasted off, so I could no longer continue on to the second one. The beans looked like they were from a can, so I felt safe enough eating those(it’s sad when you feel safer eating beans from a can than restaurant food…). Not one person at our table finished their food, as it tasted quite subpar. So…the questionable food goes well with the bad service. Lucky for us, they were quick to bring the bill and we got out of there quickly. As we were pulling out of the parking lot, I saw the busser woman clean our table and put chips/salsa on the table for the next group as they were heading over. What that group didn’t see, however, was the fact that the woman dipped her finger in the salsa, then flicked it off on the table, then wiped it off. So… for all we know, we could have been eating salsa that has had every food servers’ fingers in it. All in all — avoid if possible.

After a more than generous 22% tip, for a guy that didn’t deserve 10%, the bus lady was super rude. The food gave us the typical Mexican food problems. Lucky our hotel was just across the street or we may not have made it. Second star is solely for the taste of the $ 8 michelada.

Good food, but on the mild side. If you like a little heat I would advise asking for it. Their crispy version of chile rellenos were really good and I would go back just for those. A major plus is the cleanliness of the entire place, including the restrooms. Nothing special on service but I think we kept them from closing by arriving just before closing time on an otherwise dead night. They have gone to great lengths on some of the décor and on personalizing each table with apparently hand-cut graphics of their logo.

This was our first time in Frazier… stopped for lunch, and had a GREAT lunch. The food was very good, the service was attentive and the margaritas were excellent. Highly recommend this restaurant.

We’re from Texas, this is good food… margaritas are as good as back home. Fried ice cream is real good as well. If they were in the mexican food belt, TEXAS, I would be there every weekend. It is Good. Find it. The food is excellent with huge portions.

My family went to this restaurant and all got really sick. Eat at your own risk! Food poisoning can kill.

Yummy food… get the enchiladas and the LARGE margarita! Guacamole is a little bland and SMALL… my family said the chimichanga was good good good! It is worth the wait so don’t get scared at the door. We try to hit this place once per trip.

My husband I decided to try this place while visiting Fraser. The food was pretty good since it tasted like it came from Taco Bell, and my margarita was ok… nothing special. when we first sat down, the lady that brings the salsa around spilled the whole thing on my husband. We received no apology from her or the bartender that saw it happen. Disappointing…

We had a late lunch with the kids and it was all fantastic. Enchilada combinations came hot, seasoned and very tasty. Chips and salsa to start. Salsa is potent and comes with a side of slaw. I was silly enough to think that the slaw would help with the heat. No Sir! It packed a serious punch which I actually enjoyed. The kids had taco/enchilada combos. They loved it. We had Enchilada Combos with Beef, Chicken and Cheese. So good that we actually ordered another portion and shared. The server was very nice and accommodating. We had a few requests that were not easy to accommodate, but he quickly gave us alternatives from the vast menu. Margaritas are huge and very good!

Been here twice, once with the hubs on a romantic getaway and once with the kids. Both times we received great service and really good food. The soda portions are huge, bottomless chips and slaw to die for. Also the chicken I got was fantastic. Kids were happy with quesadillas and pizza fries. Didn’t have alcohol, so can’t comment on that, but service is always great.

One day I would have considered a higher rating for Azteca, however, the second experience tanked it! Four of us came off the mountain the first day for tasty margaritas and good service. The next day’s experience was quite different. We were back with six people, money in hand, and were treated disrespectfully by, of all people, the owner. The food ended up being below par and they insulted us with a switch up on the margaritas… we outright saw their feeble attempt to remake the«specialty version» of the drink with the original bottom-shelf ingredients after we specifically asked for the version we had the day before. As if we wouldn’t know the difference? And, nearly laughable, the manager on duty had to call the owner for permission(which was denied) to add a side of mole sauce at an upcharge. We were willing to pay and just wanted the food! Needless to say, the owner lost a sizeable tab on that go round and a good rating. I’d encourage you to stay at Winter Park resort and go to Lime. The staff was fantastic there!

Our table was full of enjoyable conversation and we had a nice time! However, slow service and mediocre food mean that I must award no more than two stars to Azteca. Our arrival was around 4:00, and we were a large party of 8. However, the restaurant was empty and the time between drink orders, meal orders, delivery, and the check was significant. This did impact our experience– not speedy service, and this was disappointing. The chips were thick and the salsa was fine– seasoned with chili powder, smoky, and fresh. I ordered an avocado tostada with black beans, nix the tomatoes. I was disappointed in my dish. The beans tasted undercooked, and the tostada itself was wet, falling apart, and lacked flavor. Again, we were a large party arriving at an off-time, but I was disappointed with my meal and slow service. I hope to come back to Fraser and try Azteca again, as it had the makings of a 3-star experience. Other diners raved about the chicken tortilla soup and I nibbled on a flour tortilla that was warm and soft. Next time, warm soup and tortillas sound like a solid order.

Now that Mexican restaurants are a dime a dozen, it’s hard for one to really stand out in my mind. Azteca is delicious! Their homemade salsa and Mexican cole slaw are fantastic. Very reasonably priced– clean but small dining room. On a busy night, it’ll get pretty loud and crowded in there but that’s because it’s the best Mexican food around. I’ve been to the one in Erie and it just doesn’t taste the same as the one in Fraser. Carne Asada is off the charts good as well as Chile Relleno and enchiladas! Of course margaritas have to be brought up– don’t go for one of the pre-mixed ones(gross). Order a hand made one– trust me, it’s worth the little extra!

Delicious food and extremely generous portions at great prices! My husband and I ordered a giant chicken burrito to share. I wasn’t expecting it to be GIANT. The sauce was really tasty. My son had the grilled chicken with veggies burrito. He didn’t like the mushroom, but I thought the grilled mushroom was very tasty. There were nine people in our party and this place is very affordable. The service was good and the food arrived quickly.

So the best way to describe Azteca is this… its your standard Mexican joint. Like the kid in school who consistently gets C pluses, he’s not impressing anyone, but he’s still going to pass. Azteca is that kid. If you have a major hankering for Mexican while you’re in Winter Park, it’ll do the trick. Just don’t expect anything to knock your socks off.

Heading home from Grand Lake, my wife and I stopped into Aztecta Mexican restaurant in Fraser. We had heard about this chain from some employees at Tequilas, so finally we broke up our drive and popped in. It is an unassuming place, with a patio a small bar area and a larger dinning area than expected. Great flavor on their salsa and their spicy slaw is more refined than(Not chunky-style) than other places. The food was great, they had a nice lunch menu(the regular menu is gigantic) and the grilled jalapeños were terrific. We tried the house margs on the rocks, no salt. They came out perfect. The green chile was flavorful, the burrito was massive and the flavors were great. Wonderful service, and a new chain will soon open up in Granby. They also have locations in Idaho Springs and in Louisville under the name«Casa Alegre». We will be heading to Louisville to try their sister property. When in Fraser, give it a try.

This is the perfect place to visit when you are hungry. The portions are large, and upon being seated you will be greeted with chips, salsa and homemade pico that looks and tastes more like a spicy slaw. The service was also fast and friendly. Absolutely no complaints. The food itself was average-not especially flavorful or interesting, but the menu was HUGE, and in the restaurants defense, I ordered fajitas, which are not always the most flavorful. Our whole party of 4 left full and with plenty of leftovers, and the bill was very reasonably priced.
