With new ownership you can see that Longaberger will be back to what it was 10years ago but better. They do need a groundskeeper full time. I heard they have one part timer. You can still weave a basket. They are selling more back stock then before. The huge apple basket has been repaired. Give the place a chance!

The Longaberger Homestead is nothing like it used to be. The Homestead was once a great place for shopping and dining, reminiscent of Disney’s Main Street, USA. Now, it’s just an eyesore and embarrassment. The majority of the buildings are closed and the overall condition of the property has significantly deteriorated. The«Longaberger Homestead» sign has been painted over with blank tan paint, leaving potential customers confused. The parking lot is riddled with potholes that were never fixed. Paint is peeling off the walls and there is no evidence of landscaping, as weeds and grass grow like there’s no tomorrow. It is unclear which buildings are opened and which are closed. Some members of my party walked into an abandoned restaurant, thinking it was open. Inside were boxes upon boxes of inventory still with tags on it, just sitting unattended. The available shopping itself isn’t much to be desired. Giant signs advertise things as 50% off, and then underneath in small writing says«Excluding baskets.» If Longaberger is, obviously, in such dire financial straits, why wouldn’t they try to sell off what they have? Additionally, all of their pottery products are now made in China; a stark contrast to their«proudly made in America» slogans. The former on-site restaurants are no longer in operation. Boxed lunches are the only food choices available on the property. The whole thing is just sad. Not recommended unless you’re really into Longaberger.

This once busy shopping center and tourist destination has gone downhill as same with The Longaberger Company and popularity of their baskets. Only thing not down is the price of the baskets, still very expensive. Once employing a few thousand, t make baskets now down to a few hundred. We stopped here, there were many items marked down. You can make your own basket. These grounds needed mowing and the shrubs needed trimming and weeding. Only one tour bus stopped while I was there.
