Let’s start with the basics: Welding is not something anyone can do. Its has elements of engineering craft — you have to know basic metallurgy and welding materials and methods to know what will work and what won’t. And there there’s a portion of the trade that is art — does your work look good? — can your hand do what your mind can see? I had a welding repair job that I needed done — it was a repair of a very complex motorcycle exhaust system. The system was built of very thin wall stainless steel — contained a catalytic converter — and featured a complex collector unit where 4 headpipes were connected to each other and then to the muffler body. The fabrication of this unit was so complex that a major European car and motorcycle manufacturer could not manufacture it without approximately 50% of the units failing in use from a broken weld at a stress point — which is what mine had done. The replacement cost of this exhaust system is approximately $ 1400. I called many welders who declined the job before Chris Clark agreed to make the repair. Most cited their lack of skill with thin wall stainless tubing. I removed the system from my motorcycle and dropped it off at the shop. During that time Chris sent e-mail describing how a strap that was designed to reinforce this weight bearing and vibrating assembly had also failed, and asking if I had any preferences on how it was to be repaired. I deferred to his skill and told him so. A day later, the system had been repaired and was ready to be picked up. The repair work was stellar — all of the factory welds at the points of stress had been cleaned and reinforced. Where the factory had designed a single reinforcing strap, Chris had designed and fabricated a system of three, equally spaced straps that had to be machined to allow for clearance of existing seams. Upon reinstallation, the strength of the system had been noticeably improved — the resonant frequency of the exhaust had changed so that the overall vibration level of the motorcycle had been reduced dramatically. 20,000 miles of full throttle operation later, the repair has held. The cost of this repair was extremely modest, especially when I consider the care and attention to detail that was exhibited on the job. Chris is an artist with a torch who I have recommended to anyone that inquires.

We had our railings on our back porch repaired with solid legs and powder coated. Darren and his employees did a fantastic job. We had a difficult time finding someone and happened to find him. You won’t be sorry. Very professional and friendly. Would not hesitate to use his company again. Thanks
