Gena is amazing. As someone who is a wimp when it comes to pain and who was a complete novice to what she offers, I was SO incredibly surprised by how little pain I experienced during the process. Gena’s incredibly professional and very chill, so you don’t have to feel self-​conscious or stressed about anything. Her shop is spotlessly clean, and she is friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. Wouldn’t think of going anywhere else in the future.

Howww does this place only have four five-​star reviews? I just moved here and am so glad to have found Gena at Downtown Wax. I love Frederick, but it is sorely lacking in speciality wax places. Personally I love not having to go to a salon or spa for waxing. Gena’s place is conveniently located downtown on the street level of a row home looking building. It’s a cute, clean, private little space that specializes only in waxing. Gena herself is also great. Very patient with those of us who have lower pain thresholds. Gena also uses a mix of hard and strip wax, which I really like! Check this place out.

Fantastic experience!!! Gena is incredibly knowledgeable, professional, and friendly. Quick and efficient she talked me through the whole thing (I’m basically a waxing novice with only one previous experience) deftly rolling together waxing 101 and fun conversation. Rebooked upon checkout and have no qualms about telling everyone I see I just had the best wax ever!

Gena at Downtown Wax is the best! Gena will completely put you at ease (no matter what you’re getting waxed!) and is honest about when things will (and will not) hurt. I love that. We chatted the whole time and the appointment flew by.
The location downtown is perfect. Her waxing business is the only thing in the space, so it’s completely private and comfortable (no awkward rooms at the back of the salon). I highly recommend Downtown Wax and will definitely be returning.
