Frederick Classical Ballet

This studio only teaches straight classical ballet. No jazz, lyrical, or hip-​hop. The instruction is pretty strict and serious and they expect the dancers to be focused. That said, if you are looking for an environment to help your daughter learn self-​discipline, this is the place to go. The girls ARE commended when they do well, given positive reinforcement, and when they don’t do so well, they are given extra help.
The values are strong, and the instruction is first class. They don’t do competitions, they do several full-​scale semi-​professional performances each year, and not all of the students will be included in them. But if the student works hard, she will almost certainly be in the next one.
I can’t recommend this place enough, but it’s not for everyone. It helped my daughter learn to stand up for herself, helped teach her that not everyone gets an award just for showing up, and taught her physical skills that will be with her for life. If you like traditional values, and want your daughter to learn classical ballet, try this studio.
