Gene’s Lock Service

Talked to them at noon and they set up an appointment to send a guy over at 1:30 that same day. Matt showed up to fix the deadbolt on my front door, he was so polite and had my lock fixed in no time! Even took extra time to lubricate the lock so it would work smoothly. Couldn’t be happier with this place! Two thumbs up!

Had to get a doorknob/​lock fixed on short notice for the door we use most often to get in and out of the house. I called at 8:00 a.m. and a gentleman arrived an hour later. Courteous and prompt – fixed by 9:30. Family owned business in operation since 1965. I highly recommend!

So my cousin and I walked in and we had them make 20 different keys and they were extremely nice and it was done in less than 30 minutes and all the keys worked. He was very professional. I would highly recommend if you need a key made because you lost yours or need extra keys made do not go to home depot or lowes pay a little extra and go to Gene’s it’s a local business and the pest key makers in all of Maryland maybe the best key maker on the east coast!

I had no access to my business files after I misplaced my key and I didn’t know what to do but needed a solution and fast. One call to Gene’s locksmith, a texted picture and a couple of days later a replacement key arrived in the mail, problem solved!!!

Old fashioned service and reliable. Had them out 2 times and good experience both times.

Get your pricing upfront! I needed a new deadbolt, they ordered it and came to install it.
Was charged retail on the lock (so they made something there) then charged $ 99 to install it. That was all well and good but they then added a service call fee of $ 60! I see this as duplicative to the instillation charge. Oh they also charged me to rekey the lock to our other locks.
Then to kind of put the icing on it after $ 250 they charged me for 4 new keys. Essentially I paid $ 304 for a $ 99 lock and installation of same (in a location within 1 mile of their shop).
My fault for not asking upfront of all charges but I’ll look elsewhere next time I need work done.
As a PS I looked the lock up online-​avail from a big box for $ 49! Now I really feel bad. Never again.
Ps I was contacted by the company after read this review. They said I was informed of the service fee and that all locksmiths charge one. I was not.
Perhaps this was typical pricing, I felt taken advantage of — the work was fine — I should have asked more questions and they should have been more upfront about costs.

Very reliable. He is offers same day service. He is fast and efficient. I highly recommend his services.
