Good beds and great staff. Been coming here almost 20 years. New Malibu bed up front is excellent but pretty expensive. I will say though it’s worth it to get nice color in a few shots than it is to spend every day going there, which I don’t have time to do. I won’t be participating in the corporate mega tanning stores moving into Frederick, this is my place as long as it’s open.

I love love love this place. Its clean and quite homey. I’ve been going here since it use to be What A Tan. Although the name changed it is still the same staff that we all know and adore. The ladies who run this place are awesome. They are always so friendly and always try to help out and suggest what they think would be the best tan for you. It helps that they remember your name(since lets be honest, everyone loves that). Ive tried other tanning places in Frederick and nothing else really compares. I’m moving away from school and I’m certainly going to miss this place. Why 4 stars? The only cons I have against this place is that you can only buy tans in packages and they are a bit pricey. I will say however that when they have a sale/special going on(just about on every holiday you can think of) the pricing is much more reasonable. Around certain holidays are the best times to stock up on tans.

My dermatologist and therapist may not agree with me that tanning is the best way to cure the dry scaly psoriasis patches on my ankles or the down in the dumps mood as the winter weather and snow lingers and lingers and longers on– but I don’t care. I’m a nurse, I argue with them all the time, and darn it– tanning makes me feel good. Really good, and eventually, it will make me cuter– who wants to wear foundation and hose in the summertime? Not this girl, bring on the tan. I know to take it slow and in moderation. as far as UV lights go anyway. But, I’ve been tanning a number of places in this very long life– from the coin operated bed at the Laundromat(was that Texas or Oakland Maryland? I can’t remember, and odd that it very well could have been either of those places, but no where else that I have frequented or done laundry.) to the fancy schmancy Spa tanning at whatever exclusive day spa of the month in Bethesda, to the resort in Jamaica(why? why? I guess when you are up drinking all night, laying out in the sun during the day is not an option…) Hawaiian Tan in Frederick beats them all– from previous reviews on here and other sites, it seems they have had some recent name confusion– changing from the original Hawaiian Tan to What-a-tan and now back to Hawaiian Tan. Whatever. They are on the upper level of a typical Frederick Golden Mile Strip Center– behind the Roy Rogers and up the stairs. They are attached to/in business with a cutesy country gift shop– candles, repro vintage tin signs, etc. cute stuff. They have too many beds to count, of all types, including a red-light bed for those who only want light, not tan. Stand Up beds, Legs Only beds, so many beds! They also have deals– and perks if you get your friends to come by. The staff/family was super knowledgeable and sweet– they insist on giving you the tour, but make it quick and efficient, and when I showed them the lotion I had brought in with me, instead of trying to upsell, she mentioned that it was perfect for my needs and a line they still carry, just from last year. No worries. The place was super clean, the bulbs were super new– I’ll be back, and back, and back…
