Wouldn’t honor a 30% off total purchase of non-sale items coupon(I purposely shopped only non-sale items to avoid confusion). Middle-aged female clerk extremely rude, telling me I misread it, but couldn’t reproduce it because it was now shredded. Two items rang up as different-more expensive sale items. She had absolutely no interest in helping me resolve it. Ended up returning entire purchase due to overcharge, rudeness, and incompetence. What a waste! Now shopping at Michael’s and AC Moore. Review for Frederick, MD store.

I come here for all my crafting needs! The staff is always charming and helpful! My cashier today was named Cindy and she was absolutely the best, she was very funny and was nice enough to help me find great coupons for my pricey purchase. Love this place!

As a local that shops here regularly I have to say that recently my experiences have been outstanding. The cutting table was very efficiently run during the mad holiday season and my wait time was minimal compared to past delays experienced. The check out was also über staffed and I sailed through the line. The staff was very knowledgeable and even tried very hard to make sure I found some coupons to apply to my purchase or to offer the end of a bolt at 50%. The selection of fabric is very good and I’ve rarely left empty handed. The scrapbooking section is probably the largest in Frederick and well stocked. I have also had several items framed and have been very pleased with the results and the timeliness of completion. You need to watch out for the 65% coupons or the cost is outrageous, however. Only complaint is that their picture frame selection is not as good as some other shops in town but it is still very sufficient and lots of options. The kids crafts are great and beading area never lets me down either. The store is well organized and clean and bright — very inviting for a 2+ hour shopping foray as I often end up because I can’t stop shopping!

Staff at this store has no respect towards the fabrics they handle or the customers who come to shop here. It’s a real shame, as this is such a huge store. The only nice person works in the Viking section, which is unrelated. The staff does not know how to properly cut and measure fabrics. They also do not provide swatches like other major fabric houses/businesses; they charge for those tiny 2-inch samples. Everyone who works here is extremely impatient and uneducated in the field. It is rare to find someone kind and willing to help in this store. They almost look angry if asked to help. At least in other stores it is possible to find a single person who is nice, but not here. Do not shop here if you can get what you need somewhere else.

I’m not a seamstress, and I don’t do many crafty type activities. My daughter, and I decided to recover some storage footstools for her to take to college. We even brought one to the store for measuring purposes! Thank goodness for the awesome help! Dana is the epitome if customer service. She was just outstanding. She had ideas, she led us to different areas, she was so pleasant! Jessica was kind, helpful, resourceful, advised me to sign up for coupon texts. Cindy C, who checked me out, knew everything about the coupons, including the text offer, so I saved quite a bit today. Such a nice bunch of people!

This is the most inefficient store! 3 people in fabric and only 1 person dealing with customers. Now I’m waiting behind 8 other customers for one of the 2 cashiers. I would rather drive to a competitor’s store in Gaithersburg rather than buy fabric here again.

This store has great items — I just can’t find them :( It is very difficult to find an employee to ask for help. The registers and customer service are set up in a way that makes it hard to ask any questions. Also, they rearranged the store and I can’t find anything and many of their associates can’t either.

I was in the store attempting to buy fabric recently. The fabric counter was dead. When I got up there, there was one person ahead of me. I didn’t know to take a ticket, and none of the employees cared to mention it, even though I walked up while they were watching me, sans ticket. So after I stood there for awhile, I saw other people getting tickets, and thus, getting in front of me. Fine. Maybe that’s my fault. I’ve never seen fabric cutters who were so slow. I understand being careful with product and the need to accurate, but this was to the point of the ridiculous. When the woman in front of me finally left, there wasn’t enough of the fabric she had to go back on the bolt. I know that it then needs to be tagged as a remnant. The woman working spent TENMINUTES measuring, refolding, printing the ticket, taping the tag to it, and writing it in the inventory book. Then she put all her gear away, only to go and do it again for another remnant left behind by the woman in front of me. DOINVENTORYONYOUROWNTIME. The line was piling up, and I had already been standing there for a very long time at that point. I almost got a manager, because the slowness that unbelievable. I’ve never seen a retail worker move at such a pace. I’m wondering if this was a mutiny against management? It was SOSLOW that it seemed to be on purpose. It was obnoxious, and I was mad. I will never, ever buy fabric from Joann again.

Ok, sales are pretty good. Just download the app and coupon away. Why the sorry review? I was just annoyed with the disconnect between the website and store. I went online and found 29 items of what I was looking for in stock. YAY right?! Got to the store and there was a whopping 0! I wrote them at customer service. I did receive a response and a promise for a 50% off coupon to be mailed someday. BUT geez, can we just have our systems in order. I must note that the employees here are very helpful, considering how i’m sure everyone who shops has some kind of question. Very convenient for me. Great hours. Usually have something that will work if they don’t have exactly what I want. Here’s my issue with this store(I have been to other locations and not encountered this problem). The staff rarely know where items are or if they even carry them. I am regularly told that«employee so and so would be the expert in that section and is not here». I know they have a lot of merchandise and no one employee can know every product on hand but come on — try even a little. Dismissing my inquiry without even looking is poor service. Also, if I ask about coupons they are always curt and ask me «if I am on their mailing list? They do not keep coupons at the counter». OK, I get that you want me to join your list and want me to use your mailers but if every other craft store has coupons to scan(AC Moore on Rt. 85 always has extra coupons) why make me jump through hoops? If the lady behind me can pull up your website on her new I-phone and get 50% off why can’t I just get the same deal! It’s not like a members only club discount is happening here. I will continue to shop here for last minute and sale items but I sincerely do prefer AC Moore on Rt. 85. Oh, and they have more craft items than Jo-Anne(duh, AC Moore is a craft store where Jo-Ann has more sewing tools and fabrics).

This JoAnn location used to be decent, but they recently reorganized their floor plan and it’s HORRIBLE. Like-items are no longer near each other, so you have to waste time wandering around the store looking for stuff. It’s a complete mess. And the staff are sub par as well. Most of them are older, which is fine except for the fact that they are extremely slow, unfriendly, and don’t seem to care about customer service and there is always a line for the register. It’s too bad that this is the only fabric store in Frederick. I dread shopping here now. I will only be going when absolutely necessary.
