This is an intimate, wonderful and, advanced salon. The stylists are among the best in Frederick. And they are Aveda too. Rania and Adeline are the two best stylists in downtown Frederick.

I’ve been using Aveda products for more than 20 years, so I was thrilled to find an Aveda salon in downtown. Neutre is a beautiful salon and very professionally run. Many thanks to Adeline for straightening out my product needs!

This is seriously the BEST hair salon!!! The actual salon is chic, modern, & relaxing, as it’s an Aveda salon. The staff is great – really friendly but never pressuring you to buy products. I was never loyal to a salon in the past, but I’ve been going to Adeline (the owner) for years now, since she first opened the salon actually. Since then I have had numerous random people come up to me and ask where I get my hair done. She just knows hair & how to do it WELL! I hardly have to tell her what I want & she gets it perfect every time. Plus, its like getting your hair done with a free therapy session in one bc we chat all about life :). I’ve referred many friends here & they’re always happy. Whether you just want a basic haircut or something more advanced (not to mention great spa amenities!), Neutre Salon is definitely the place to go!

Adeline, Amanda, Nicole and Paige — how can I thank you enough? I feel like this is coming 7 months late, but I STILL get compliments about the big day.
These four ladies did an amazing job attending my bridal party and I for my wedding. They were patient and totally heard each of us out to make sure our hair and make up came out to be exactly as we had envisioned. Amanda did my hair and it was beautiful, I LOVED it. Nicole did my make-​up and I loved that as well.
I absolutely recommend these four and Neutre Salon if you’re having a Frederick wedding. We were in and out without a hitch, they timed it perfectly. Thank you so much!

So, this is a bitter sweet review — I have been a weekly customer for a little over two years, and I was beyond happy with the level of work my stylist, Adeline (who is also the owner), provided. I can not express what a great hair stylist (and person in general!) she is. They do not double book, so you can expect to arrive for your appointment and be seen quickly and attentively. I honestly never had a bad hair day while Adeline was doing my hair. The salon is clean and they go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and refreshed if there is a wait.
So the cons: While they provide great service while you are in the salon, at times it is difficult to get an appointment, especially if you are not scheduling several weeks in advance. This is somewhat understandable. However, more than several times I have called to try to make or change an appointment and been told that they would call me back to let me know if there was an availability, and I never received a call back. Not even just to let me know that nothing was available. So if you want to make an appointment, and this type of non-​service does not bother you, your best bet is to make sure you schedule weeks in advance, or maybe visit the store in person; otherwise, you may be waiting for a call that will never happen.
Bottom line: As far as the service goes, I would definitely recommend the salon/​Adeline.

Thank you Nicole! Was visiting from out of town, needed highlights, got an appointment on short notice, and she took care of me. BEautiful color mixing, although she didn’t get as close to the roots as I’d have liked. Took a LONG time, I will say, but she did a really thorough job, so I was fine with that. Sketchy neighborhood, but nothing outrageous dangerous — very friendly overall, nice ambience, really well priced!

Nicole was my stylist and massuese. She listens, and is not only genuine in her suggestions but very very meticulous. Loved every moment of mommy s day out in the spa. Am not local to frederick but would definitely come back

Been going to this salon since they opened. Always have a great experience. My hair comes out looking great — I get lowlights and highlights in attempt to keep it natural looking. My stylist, Adeline, always listens to my concerns and desires and does her best to give me the results I’m looking for. It’s a bit pricey, but I’ve found it to be well worth it. You get what you pay for when it comes to beauty treatments.
Also have great deals on facials and massages. I love the clean fresh scents of the Aveda products.

Jessica was great. I came in a mess, and before too long I left with one of the best cuts that I’ve ever had.
I’ll be back!
Did I mention that when I was offered coffee, it was French press? I will!

Not worth the price AT ALL. The stylist I saw, while very sweet was not at all personable. I got ombré highlights and ended up with little to no transition from dark brown to light blonde complete with an awful skunk streak in the front. It wasn’t at all like the photos I showed her. To top it off my ends were completely bleached out and fried. Definitely NOT worth the nearly 250 dollars for a cut and color. I won’t be back.

I went here and saw Paige. She completely ruined my hair. The owner is awesome though and fixed it for free, which is why I’m giving it 2 stars. If you want specifics you can read my rant below but that’s the gist of it.
I really had high hopes for this salon based on reviews. I’m a blonde — asked for ashy blonde low light with highlights. same thing I’ve been getting in both NoVA and Chicago for the past 10 years. I specified no warm tones, only cool blonde shades. Well, needless to say I am home with brassy/​orange roots and the rest is damaged blonde quite a bit shorter than I wanted. I asked for low lights too but I don’t see those anywhere. I called and left a message to have it fixed so will follow up with notes how that goes. How did I make it home like this? 3+ hours in the chair silent (my stylist Paige NOT a good talker or listener), dark outside and dim lights inside.
.after another 3.5 hours in the salon I’m sad to say that it’s not fixed. Of course the only person available to do my hair was the same one who ruined it. so I guess I really shouldn’t have expected much. It’s a little better though, and that’s because the owner came over and told my colorist exactly what she should do, but I didn’t process long enough and to make matters worse the hair around my face was missed, so I still have copper roots around my face, next to my dark blonde/​light brown eyebrows.
The worst part is that since I’ve had two color procedures back to back my hair has thinned to nothing on top of the shorter-​than-​I-​had-​wanted cut. Yes, I cried at the salon today. And again this evening when I realized I still had dye in the back of my hair — she didn’t even wash it properly. Never did I think that would happen to me.
I will be going back because the owner has offered to fix it herself which I really appreciate (especially after seeing how good she is!). She gave me a free damage treatment and compensated my dissatisfaction — overall very professional, sweet and sincere. Sadly, I can’t do anything but spend the next six weeks with ginger hair around my face and blasted damaged blonde on the top. I really hope the time flies and that next time I’ll leave loving my hair like all the other ladies.

Adeline is a ROCK STAR! You will get a cut and a color that has you wanting to step into the pages of People Magazine as the next person to watch!

Neutre is a very chic salon located on Market Street in downtown Frederick, Maryland. All the stylists are very professional and up to date on the latest hair styles. Adeline, the owner, is very knowledgeable and willing to work with any type of hair. I have been going to her for years and have never been disappointed. I wouldn’t think of going anywhere else. I highly recommend this salon!
