Bacchus Winery

Not your traditional winery. Mr. Bell makes and teaches how to make small batches of wine using kits and grape juices (products he sells there). The juices come from all over the world. Tastings are free but you cannot drink on site if you purchase a bottle. It’s a small place, more like wine making supply store. When I was there I was his only customer in the store and he let me try a wide variety of his wines, gave me a tour of the classroom and some general wine making education. He went above and beyond my expectations in customer service and the wines were really good. But if you’re a va wine drinker, none of the grapes used are from the state. Interesting place, certainly worth checking out but don’t expect picnic tables, cheese plates or scenic views like most va wineries. This place is hidden in a shopping center off rt 3.
