Awful! First of all, we were there to celebrate a few birthdays as well as Father’s Day and they apparently couldn’t do a birthday dessert. Then they were asked to just put a birthday candle in our meal… well, they didn’t do that either. Waitress was awful. Next, my pregnant sister ate her salad and after the very last bite, she was faced with a crawling bug on the plate. So who knows how many bugs she may have eaten?!? Gross! Next, 4 out of the 8 entrees came out cold. Then even after reheating, they weren’t thoroughly heated up. The food was not so great and the service was even worse. Actually, I’m not sure which was worse – the food or the service. Might have been a toss up! I highly advise that no one wastes a dime on this restaurant… or even the gas to drive there.

The locals told me to go here on Thursday. Why?$ 1 drafts, you say? Don’t get too excited … That’s for Miller Lite and Yuengling only. $ 2 for premium drafts. nEither way, you don’t have to tell me twice. The one catch is these aren’t pint-sized drafts, people. Nor would I have expected them to be. They serve the beer in rocks glasses, but claim they’re 10 oz pours. Maybe that’s true, but it sure doesn’t feel like it. Closer to 8 oz., perhaps. Still a steal. Also don’t be fooled by the apparent lack of draft options based on the number of taps visible to the naked eye. If you ask for a list, they have many, many more options. Too bad I had to work the following day otherwise I might have stuck around for the one man band, which didn’t get started until around 10:30. I’m told the food here is also great, especially during the day, but I can’t speak for any of that. The one downfall — yet pro — is that the place is on the water. So while you get a nice view of the not-so-nice Rappahannock River, you also get the bugs that come along with it flying in your face. Or worse, into your drink.

Decent food. If you are getting off the vre or Amtrak it’s a good place to stop. The appetizers were pretty good. It has a small town feel, in a good way. They have happy hour specials. The calamari looked like it came out of the freezer and the fish tacos had the hard shell. They would have been better with a soft shell and a side of dipping sauce. I was excited to try it, and glad I did.

It was good for brunch, they have a nice list of dishes to pick from and $ 3 mimosas were good ! Although the champaign they used had to bubbles which means it was an open bottle that wasn’t preserved but it was still good, the server however was good but wasn’t giving us much attention. He was bartending and serving which kept him occupied, maybe next time try to have have serves to give more attention to their tables and and more staff. It also had a nice view to the river and trees, the décor inside would take you back in time old and vintage.

I’ve been going to Brocks for years. .a favorite of mine and friends. Love their salmon and bar burgers! The views are beautiful and sitting outside overlooking the river and enjoying a glass of wine is a favorite in the summer. Great happy hour prices!

My wife and I just enjoyed a fabulous lunch here today. The filet mignon was tender and flavorful; my wife had the hot steak salad and crab & red pepper soup(highly recommend!). Then for desert we had the house-made Brock’s Ho-Ho and Key Lime pie(both amazing!). However, in addition to the great food, I would be remiss if I failed to mention we had the BESTSERVER that I can ever recall having at any dining establishment! Rick was PHENOMENAL! He was attentive. He was knowledgeable about each item. And, he was hilarious!!! I have never written a Unilocal review for anything before and felt compelled to let everyone know they need to try Brock’s, and you need to ask for Rick as your server. But, be sure to come ready to enjoy yourself and be ready to banter. You’ll be glad you did. ;-)

We are new to the area, and Brock’s has become one of our favorite restaurants! And I’m PICKY! Impeccable service, incredible food, served quick and cooked perfectly. The waiters have always been attentive and friendly. My husband loves the ribeye, and I’ve ordered the specials… each time something different — delicious and reasonably priced. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The crème brûlée is top notch. You know a meal is great when you crave it the next day. Try it out… you won’t be disappointed.

Meh… Just meh… Nothing special and in fact a bit below average. Stopped in on a Wednesday about 1pm for lunch. Hostess was busy on her iPhone and didn’t even look up as I entered. Sat in the bar area. Bartender/server was friendly and attentive. I quickly had a glass of water and a menu after which she gave me a minute to look things over. That is the ONLY reason this isn’t a one star review. Ordered buffalo chicken wrap with fries. Looking around the space, it seemed to be full of the kind of folks who hang out in the dark corner of a bar, nursing a beer to get through the day… Kind of a depressing and desperate quality to it all. Food came out quickly, but wasn’t really all that. The overwhelming flavor was buffalo sauce, no hint of chicken, blue cheese or anything else. Wrap was also very wet with juice spilling out all over the plate. Quite a mess to eat. Fries were completely not worth mentioning… Ate about ½ of everything then called it quits. Paid the bill($ 12) and asked where the restroom was. Walking to the restroom I passed a hallway marked«employees only» that had a terrible smell of seafood that has gone bad coming out of it. Restroom looked like the scene of a bar fight with its cracked vanity, dirty mirror and sticky floor. On my way out, the hostess was still engrossed in her phone and didn’t say a word. Not the worst place I’ve ever been, but I see no reason to return.

I went to Brocks for a small wedding reception. The reception was in an upper room above the entry area which was decorated nicely. The bartenders were great, and everyone seemed to have a nice time. The room was full, but not so crowded that you couldn’t get around. There were about 15 tables of 8 – 10 people each. The passed appetizers were really good. They had coconut shrimp and«mini quesadillas»(which were more like taquitos), along with assorted fruit, veggies, meatballs, cheese, crackers, etc. The dinner options were okay. The buffet included London broil, marsala chicken, green beans, mashed potatoes, and shrimp Creole. The doneness of the London broil varied from piece to piece, but I got a piece that was medium. The food could have been a bit hotter; it seemed like it was cold as soon as it hit my plate. The shrimp«Creole» was confusing to me; it was bowtie pasta in a tomato sauce with a few tiny shrimp thrown in. I assume that the food was provided by Brocks, but it could have been catered out, I’m not sure. The service was really great. I never had to ask for water refills, and everyone was very friendly.

Food was really… not very good. Typical bar food, but with slow service, stinky environment and not really a great view as you would think in the back inside area.

The biggest draw to this establishment is definitely the ambiance, not the food. That being said, the food was good. Not great, not fantastic, but definitely good. I had the crab cake platter with a sweet potato purée. The crab cakes were decent, there is such a variety of tastes in crab cakes and no two places do them the same. These crab cakes were of the shredded crab meat variety-I’m more of a lump lady myself. I’m not sure there was anything but crab inside the cake. I didn’t see anything, that’s certain. The only thing adding flavor to it was the sauce on top. The cake crust wasn’t very crispy either, but as I said, everyone likes their crab cakes differently. Now, to the real star of the plate, the Sweet Potato Purée. It was good, dangerously even. I had to almost shield my plate from my family getting at it. A perfect blend of brown sugar, cinnamon, and sweet potato. If you’re any self respecting sweet potato fan like myself or if you just like sweet things, this sweet potato purée and your mouth was paired by destiny, love, and brown sugar. Service was a good pace. Don’t go if you’re looking for a quick meal. Trains went by sometimes and they are were super duper long, to the point it was hilarious. Why is it so long. Why does this stupid train have literally a hundred things attached to it. This is ridiculous.

If you like mediocre food in a restaurant that smells of stale beer, then this is the place for you. It is obvious this is a night club that happens to serve food during the day. If it was possible to give a lower score I would have.

One of the more underrated places in Fred. Food is always consistent and the riverside dining is unmatched in the local area. Their Chicken Club is one of my all time favorite chicken sandwiches. Definitely worth checking out!

Is Brock’s the most amazing meal I’ve ever had? Hardly. I got the seafood carbonara, which doesn’t really meet any standard of what a carbonara should be, but it’s bar food in Fredericksburg, VA. Expectation management is a factor here. The patio outside was such a lovely spot to have some happy hour drinks and lovely conversation. There was a guy playing covers while we were sitting outside. He was actually pretty good! Service was slow and/or non-existent for long periods but was overall not the worst ever. At least she was friendly, if not the most prompt. I’d go back. Seemed like a good vibe, though an older crowd at 5pm on a Thursday.

Went here the other day, I didn’t have high expectations by the variety of reviews. It’s was good. We were sat in the back dining room. Where it was a fancy date night setting. They prefer reservations also. I enjoyed my time with my spouse. Felt a little out of place in the fancy setting, but just outdoors and the seating at the bar were more for my style. I’ll try those next time if I go. I got the Caribbean chicken with red skin mashed potatoes and the crab and asparagus soup. I loved the soup and sides but felt the chicken was not as in your mouth flavorful. But I may be willing to try something else just cause I could see the potential.

The food at Brock’s consistently Great! We’ve become regulars… Happy Hour Specials are not only great tasting but great on the wallet. Especially love their Chicken Quesadilla and their Crab Artichoke Dip. Excellent bar service, and the atmosphere inviting and friendly. Parking may be a challenge at times but it’s totally worth the drive
