Crossroads Saloon and Steakhouse

This place is okay for a steak and salad. Nothing to write home to your mother about. It is satisfactory. I have ordered the filet and it is usually cooked correctly however their seasonings just seem to be okay.

Worst steak I’ve ever had. Terrible and over priced. No seasoning and tasted and cut like a lower grade cut. Will not return and won’t recommend. Definitely not steakhouse quality in my opinion. Should have listened to the negative reviews! One would think that a business would take corrective measures but that doesn’t seem to be the case since there are old to new reviews describing similar deficiencies. This restaurant should consider itself extremely fortunate to have a bar and a nice spot on Main Street because I honestly don’t think it would make it anywhere else.

Wish we had place like this in San Antonio Tx! Love atmosphere, live band separate area from dining area. Great atmosphere, food is consistent and delicious, large portions worth the price. If looking for a cheaper price their are plenty all over Federickburg and will get just that cheaper food burgers, fries etc… But if your looking for good quality Grade A steak, vegetables etc… This is definitely the place. Have been visiting here for years and totally love this place only complain I have is their limited hours and limited days of the week it opens

Dena was an amazing server. When we were seated, we waited for someone to greet us for quite some time. Dena stepped in to pick up the slack and took over our table. She went above and beyond to make sure that the rest of our experience was superb. We were celebrating an anniversary and she made excellent recommendations. The food was very good — just a bit overpriced. The bottle of wine was a great deal… half price. Wonderful time, wonderful service!

This place was extremely overpriced. I would also say overrated, but looks like Unilocal beat me to it with their rating. I don’t mind paying a little more for a higher-​end meal, and we were there to celebrate my friend’s birthday, but this place was just overall disappointing. For my entrée I got quail and it was just «meh.» The best things here are the brisket jalapeño app and the butter that comes with the bread.
I think Fredericksburg just gets away with not having any stellar restaurants since they will always be busy as they are such a tourist spot. People will keep coming so why bother trying Lol. The connecting bar was playing fun music (Missy Elliot is my girl) and there was a $ 10 cover! I wouldn’t even pay that in Denver. We get freakin free entry even at the mega-​clubs in Vegas that have Steve Aoki and Tiesto DJing. I am not paying to enter a tiny bar in a teeny Texas town Lol

Horrible steak. Ordered the strip steak and have no idea what cut of meat it was but do know that it was cheap. Wait staff fabulous.

During our annual trip to Fredericksburg, my husband and I choose a new restaurant for «fancy dinner date night.» Last year it was Otto’s, this year we chose Crossroads.
Our waiter, Taylor, was awesome. He spent time chatting with us and went above and beyond for my husband when he requested bearnaise for his steak (which apparently was reserved for the filet special).
For our appetizer, we split the Crab Stack. We both thought it was delicious, but a bit overpriced considering the crab topping was more of a «crab salad» weighted down with a considerable bit of mayonnaise.
I we both had NY Strips (medium-​well for me, medium for my husband) which were cooked perfectly. For our sides, we chose mac and cheese, fries, and mashed potatoes. The mac and cheese was just OK… I felt like I could still taste the flour used for making the roux. According to my husband, the fries were excellent. As for the mashed potatoes, they were a bit dry, but ended up being pretty good when I poured the remaining red wine mushroom steak sauce on top.
After dinner, we walked up front for some music and dancing. We had an absolute blast! I know a few people on here are complaining about the $ 10 cover for the bar even after paying $ 200+ for dinner, but you have to realize that the bar is separate from the restaurant. That cover charge helps pay for security, the musicians, etc. Basically, things that your meal didn’t take into account.

We’ve eaten here more than a few times and they’ve always been great. The wine list has good quality moderate to high priced wine selections. Great starters with warm bread, large salads, and wonderful calamari.

Nice place to eat, drink and be merry! Had the surf n turf and Prime rib, wow !!! Everything was delish! Waitresses were nice and professional

My wife and I came here to celebrate our 25 year wedding anniversary while staying in town. There was a bit of a wait, so we killed some time at the bar. The bartenders were great, mixed up some very good drinks, and gave some pretty good suggestions when we started wanting to try something different. Time flew though and soon they called us back for our table.
Our server was Dena and she was great. Told her what we were in the mood for and she gave us her suggestions, which turned out to be spot on. She even got me to eat brussel sprouts (and they were really good, just please don’t tell my mom). The steak I ordered though was the best I’d had in years. My wife’s meal was really good too as she didn’t even let me try any…
Service, food, atmosphere, etc. were all excellent. Will definitely be coming back here when in town.

I can only speak on Crossroads Saloon as a music venue/​bar since I did not eat here. First, there is a lot of space for seating and standing. I came here with friends after dinner for drinks and music and we had a great time. I imagine the level of fun may be dependent on if you like the band or not. We did. We danced, we sang along, we had a good ol’ time. I would stop by again.

Worst customer service EVER! I called at 8:13pm to give them a heads up that we were coming in right then with a party of 13. The employee who answered the phone, «Well the kitchen closes at 9:00.» I said, «Okay, that’s 45 minutes away?» They replied, «Well how far away are you? I said five minutes. I should not have been questioned like this. They should be happy to have our business!
We arrived and our waiter Taylor was extremely annoyed and rude. He announced that the special of the day was prime rib. My uncle said, «Great! That’s what we’re all here for.» Taylor responded, «Too late. We’re out of prime rib. You should’ve come earlier.» He was clearly annoyed we arrived when we did. Why would you announce a special if you were sold out?
My brother in law then asked what kind of alcohol they had. Taylor responded, «Alcohol? What do you mean?» My brother in law said, «Ya know, beer, mixed drinks.» All we wanted was a drink menu. I think alcohol is pretty self explanatory.
Everyone ordered appetizers, alcoholic beverages, dinner and dessert. We spent over $ 600. Again, I would think they’d be happy to have our business. I would NOT recommend this restaurant.

It was our first time in this little town and it sure is a great place to get some dinner! Loved the live music and options for dining. You can eat in the bar area, dining area, or out on the patio. Great food selection and loved my martini. Dad had a steak dinner and Mom and I had the Texas cheese steak. Everything was seasoned very well and cooked just right. A lot of fun people, especially the live band. They attended to the crowd and everyone seemed to be having a good time. Our waitress was Karen and she was very sweet and welcoming. We enjoyed or stay and will be coming back for a future meal!

What a joke!
On the outside it looks like a great place to eat, drink, and be merry. Well as they always say ”Don’t judge a book by it’s cover”
A group of 3 other pretty young ladies and I wanted to enjoy a nice dinner after exploring the wineries, so we thought this would be a good place. Little did we know that it employs the rudest people in the town. We knew there would be a long wait for dinner (~1,5 hours). but that was no big deal, we said we would grab a drink in their bar first. We had a friend with an injured ankle, so we needed just ONE place to congregate where she could sit. At first the server told us no worries I got you – then after we see a group saving a table with 4 open chairs we told him and he said ‘that is not how it works’
The server goes to the group and then comes back and said sorry… you will have to find somewhere else. Well. where the heck else can we go since our friend has nowhere to sit who has an injury? He told us ‘I don’t have time for this, I have better things to do”
Now, yes she just had an ankle injury –but WTF this place is not ADA friendly? If she had been and needed that accommodation, they would not help her! Also, what employee responds with ”I have better things to do!!!”
This put a horrible taste in our mouths so we just decided to go elsewhere. we went to the good old Buffalo Nickel and had a GREAT meal, drinks, and amazing service.
Note to management: Listen to the reviews… you have some bad seeds for employees.

I’m going to start by saying, I have never been treated so poorly in my ENTIRE life. Our group left nearly in tears feeling embarrassed and upset.
— We had an 1.5 HR wait for dinner, no big deal to us — so we decided to wait in the bar which looked fun! Our friend had a sprained ankle so we needed to find a place to sit.
— A bartender approached us and said «Hey guys! Have a seat. There are two seats open over there. I’ll bring out more chairs.» So, we walked over to the table and the other patrons sitting said they were taken. The bartender who promised chairs never brought them out.
— We then tried to use a stool that was not being used and the «bouncer» said we could not move the furniture. We explained it was for our friend who had a sprained ankle and he said «No. Sorry.»
— The bartender then came back up to us and we said that the table said the seats were taken and he said «they can’t save seats– I’ll figure it out.»
— The bro then did a 180. He came back and said «I don’t have time for this so I’m making this quick. Those chairs are taken so just stand here. It’s about to be wall to wall so find a home base. I have better things to do.»
— We were stared at by customers and servers as we moved around the bar trying to find a seat for our friend with a hurt ankle. NO ONE offered help or a seat. We were basically treated as an inconvenience. Then we were yelled at before leaving the bar.
NONE of us were drunk or being obnoxious. We are super friendly girls who just wanted to have a nice dinner and celebrate our friend’s last weeks in Texas before moving. THANKS FOR A GREAT SEND OFF, LOSERS!
ONE Pro: I called the manager afterwards and she was extremely apologetic and said it would be addressed.
We ended up walking out and went to Buffalo Nickel which was AWESOME. The service was great and our waiter had manners. I have never been told «I have better things to do» by a server. You are supposed to be accommodating. ALL WE WANTED WAS ONE DAMN CHAIR for our friend with a hurt ankle. We weren’t demanding anything unreasonable. But no. «the furniture couldn’t be moved.» And «I have better things to do»…We were prepared to wait an hour and a half and spend $ 500+. Totally reasonable group just trying to have a good night. I will NEVER come here again. It was unreal. So much for Fredericksburg hospitality.

The food is EXCELLENT, and the service is OUTSTANDING! The atmosphere is classy, but comfortably so. The servers named Dena and Karen are absolutely the BEST!!!

Absolutely wonderful restaurant! We had Craig aka Mr clean as our waiter and he was amazing! The food was out of this world! Those brisket poppers are a must! We will definitely be back and recommend this place to everyone! Thanks Craig!

We went with a large party (10)and maybe that had something to do with it but we had a terrible experience. Our table wasn’t ready on time even with our reservation. The service was very slow. It took 25 minutes to get bread on the table. Our serve was constantly bumbling and forgetting something. One person in our party never got a salad she ordered. I ordered the scallops and they were over cooked and very tough. Another person ordered their steak med rare and it came out well done. Even once the steak was remade it was still over cooked and under seasoned. Most people who ordered steaks were undersea sound and the group as a whole felt steaks at home on the grill are much better. (We are from for worth and have several nice steak houses, maybe we are spoiled)
Even trying to pay out was a challenge and took way too long. Maybe 20 minutes. Not impressed. Expected much more for the price and amount if money we spent.

We had a wonderful dinner here. The sirloin steak was cooked to perfection and the grilled veggies on the side were delicious. The wine selection is also great. Service was fantastic and friendly. And the décor and ambience made this a truly special dining event. Be sure to make reservations!

I was most pleased with the customer service. I had made a call about two months ago for reservations. On Sat night, I called again, because we were lost and running 15 minutes late, and was informed that we had no reservation and they were full. Needless to say, I was frustrated. I spoke to the manager, and he said he would do his best to accommodate us. We arrived, and all went into the bar and got drinks. By the time 10 of us had a drink, they had made a table available to fit 10 and they were busy. I cannot express how pleased I was and appreciative of their making it work.
Also the food was quite tasty. And the live music was very enjoyable. Great atmosphere! Will go back.
