We did try to eat here but we waited a good 5 minutes and no one came to our table… Now we understand it’s a mom and pop restaurant and they were busy… Beware they do not take credit cards… We do plan on trying this place again though…

This is an out-of-the-way restaurant. Country setting several miles out of town. Great traditional Mexican food. Will go again when in the area. Highly recommend if you like to try unusual places.

Had dinner there with the family last Saturday. They had some hick up in the kitchen… the service was so slow and they weren’t that busy. My chili relleno was served with no sauce… Just chicken fried pepper which is weird to me. Hubby loved the enchiladas. They don’t take plastic! Bring cash!

I’m going to go out on a limb to defend the Enchanted Inn. No, it’s not an inn in the traditional sense(more like, «someone’s living room with booths?») and it really depends on your definition of «enchanted», too, but the Enchanted Inn has some serious character. If you’re in Fredericksburg and find yourself bored with the boutiques and scented candles and general sanitized adorability, head to EI for the Tex-Mexiest Tex Mex, a yard full of donkeys(it was dark, I am *80% sure they were donkeys), and make sure and eavesdrop on the local conversation.

Yeah, these reviews are off the mark. This is Enchanted Inn, the hole in the wall of all hole in the walls… not the Trois Estate. My family has been eating here since before I was born. Also a family run affair, it is a converted household, with Mom in the kitchen cooking, daughter waiting tables, and Dad playing host. Interesting set up with the velvet bull fighter painting on the wall and screen door on the porch. Even the silverware and dishes and chairs and tables are a collection that looks like it was aquired from local garage sales. If you can deal with that, this place has simple, down to earth, homecooked food. And it’s good. And yes, I have heard the horror stories, but no, I have never experienced anything but good food here. And no, no one in my family has ever experienced ill effects from eating here. And yes, I still want to eat there. Their salsa has to be my favorite… of all the salsa I have EVER had.anywhere. Hot, satisfying and hot! like it should be! and the chips are hot and greasy and salty… like they should be! Their enchilada sauce is just perfect, with the right amount of ground beef in it… not too much, not to little(and heaven forbid there be none at all!) A funny little story… once when my parents went, back 30 years or so, it was a really cold night. They had a little room heater going in the corner, and my mom saw a little mouse come out, and sit by the fire to warm itself. Once it was comfortable, it went back into the little corner it came out of. Most people would be appalled, but she thought it was cute! Little animals need to be warm too, even if it is a mouse in a restaurant! My family really enjoys this place, and apparently so do many others, as this place has been around for a really long time. Go see for yourself!

I used to take the family there a lot, neat atmosphere, good mexican fare. That was until I found roaches crawling out of my salad and people in our party got sick becasue the cheese used in the queso had spoiled over the recent vacation of the owners. Maybe they’ve cleaned it up since I was there last(almost a year ago) but I’d advise that you proceed with caution…

my friend louise a(now louise a-h) got married here. i was skeptical because she forced me to come out to the middle of nowhere, texas, from san francisco. my husband got chiggers, i got fire ant bites and we both almost passed out from the humidity. but it was totally worth it to visit this restaurant and the estate it is located on. even though i had to sit with a labia staring at me throughout dinner, i am pretty sure my meal was vegan, and i’m absolutely sure that it was delicious. i even ate red peppers and portabella mushrooms, both of which i usually hate. it was that good. if you are anywhere near fredericksburg i’d definitely plan to stop by. plus enchanted rock(a huge pink rock) is right next door and if you make it to the top, you’ll find beautiful views of texas hill country. oh, and trois estate has an underground grotto pool full of glowsticks which you have to walk through a creepy chapel to find. how awesome is that?

I think this is for the restaurant at Trois Estate at Enchanted Rock. If not that’s what my review is about. We found this place on a whim on the Fredericksburg chamber of commerce website on our anniversary a couple years back. Lets just say we picked well. The first year we showed up very late for our reservation, and this didn’t seem to bother anyone on the staff. We were a little embarrassed that our waiter(who couldn’t be older than 14) kept catching us making out at our table in the back room(but not enough to stop). They made us special vegetarian dishes not on the menu that were delicious. Everything we’ve ever eaten there has been wonderful and the owner(who is also a chef in the kitchen) is super friendly and accommodating. we love it so much we are having our small wedding diner there after our ceremony, and they made us a dish especially for us. A great find for a special occasion.
