I’ve been buying chicken supplies, hay, straw and rabbit feed for quite a while here, as well as a little bit of many other items from time to time. I’m known by the majority of the staff and we get along well. It is enjoyable to stop in and have a friendly conversation with them, and to feel appreciated for shopping there. They always thank me for coming in. I bought a product that broke and they refunded my money and I know most stores wouldn’t have considering what it was and when I returned it. I’ve also bought small vegetable/​fruit plants and the strawberries produced well for a long time.

I have shopped here on occasion. I did buy grass seed this year with exceptional results and it wasn’t that much more than Lowe’s or HD seed.
I have not bought plants from there bc everything is so expensive. The Monrovia hydrangeas were $ 5 more than Meadows. I bought a $ 5 bulb (tiger lily) which never grew. Once I asked if they ever discount their plants when they’re looking sickly and he said «we don’t discount». Even Merrifield discounts.

What a great place. We love to go and wander through all the many plants and trees. The staff is always so nice, helpful and knowledgable. You can find almost anything for your yard there and if you can’t they can find it for you. Definitely recommend.

Roxbury gets a lot of mileage out of being in downtown Fredericksburg. They are NOT reliable about what spring bulbs they sell — are those bulbs in a box saying they’ll come out pink? Well, maybe they will and maybe they won’t. Maybe they’ll come out orange, like the «pink» ones I bought. Maybe it’ll be another color. If it looks vile, it’s not their problem.
They don’t much care what’s labeled what — and if you call up to tell them there’s a problem, they shrug! Sucks being you! They don’t guarantee anything and if you’re not happy, why should they care? You already paid for it, didn’t you? That’s what’s important to them!
I will not be going back, not at any time, not for any reason.

Excellent garden and micro-​farm resource. The staff is extremely knowledgable and helpful. The store and gardens are a nice calm little oasis as well. Also makes for a great educational resource for adults and children alike. Highly recommend them!

Staff is extremely unfriendly/​rude and almost act like you aren’t even there.
only go if you can’t find what you are looking for somewhere else.

Fredericksburg, VA
Excellent specialty garden center. They carry products from Virginia Tech agriculture developed for VA soils that alot of other places don’t carry. I pick up Winning Colors seed here twice a year although my yard now is a barren wasteland from the heat. I trust the information from the staff here more so than any other garden center in the area. Their knowledge is way above what you will likely find in the big box stores. While there are other locations that carry a larger selection of plants, shrubs and trees, Roxbury Mills has the specialty items and the knowledge that those other places don’t. Me ~
