Dr Gonzales did eye surgery on me a few years ago. The surgery went fine, but I’ve made multiple requests to get a hard copy of the report and have not rec’d one. Secondarily, the office staff needs PR Training and the waiting room looks like a bad Veterinarians office.

I refuse to take my son here any longer. He has a vast medical history and has worn glasses since he was 4. It was discovered that my son is autistic as he hit the age of 9. My son doesn’t look you in the eye or answer all the questions that you ask… he does not respond to abrupt tones and requires a fair amount of patience. I get that not everyone has the patience that is require when dealing with my son, and that is ok. The problem I have with that Dr. Gonzalez is a «pediatric ophthalmologist» should have the patience and care to work with squirmy, unruly children. He has not shown that to us in the slightest. He gets agitated and frustrated with my son when he doesn’t comply with his orders and he is rude to me when I try to help and speak to my son in a way that I know he will respond to. I am sure Dr. Gonzalez is a great doctor but if you have a «challenging» child, be wary. I took my child to another doctor where I learned more about my son’s vision in out short visit than I have in the many years we saw Dr. Gonzalez.

I stopped taking my daughter here to see Dr. Gonzalez. He had terrible bedside manner! He was curt with my toddler and she became weary of him. Every time we went she was nervous and uncomfortable, he saw that she wouldn’t speak to him, so he would do nothing to calm her anxiety and tell us to come back another day. Not worth traumatizing my daughter further, after several attempts and no improvements. I also felt dismissed and guilty, like it was my fault she wouldn’t cooperate! I highly unrecommend for small children.

The office is very small, cluttered, and dirty. The receptionist was very friendly but there was rap music playing in the waiting area and overall seemed very unprofessional. The doctor was friendly, but like the other review stated, I too felt rushed with my son as he just went from one patient to the next and without washing his hands. Please ask your Pediatrician for another referral.

Save your time and money and take your business to a place that cares. The receptionists are slow, not really sure of what is going on. Dr. Gonzales makes you feel rushed and ignorant if you ask a question. We went to another business in Capitola for a second opinion and found someone that we felt we could trust and had a wonderful experience with our 6 year old son.
