I suspect this place mostly does wedding cakes, but I went for the pastries. They do pastries(German chocolate individual cakes; various tarts; etc.), cookies, cupcakes and petit fours in addition to special occasion cakes(photos of cakes shaped like football helmets, igloos festooned with penguins, etc. cover the walls of the small shop). According to the website, they do free wedding consultations which includes cake and filling tastings. I got the lemon raspberry tart and the chocolate turtle. The raspberry lemon tart was pleasant but not very lemony;nice texture, though. The chocolate turtle(with caramel made on the premises) was awfully sweet but it’s in the nature of the beast. Nice and a cut above places that just do decorated sheet cakes/novelty cookies; I’ll return if I’m in the area when they’re open. Chef cut her teeth at the Swedish Bakery in Chicago and worked for a local golf course and country club before striking out on her own.
