EXCELLENT!!! Everything they make is fantastic! Best BBQ on the planet and killer Tater Salad!!!

ABSOLUTELY worth a drive from anywhere! Best dang bbq AND sides to be had – All expertly made with creative love and care, can’t say enough good things! We ate till we hurt then stocked up our RV with all she will hold. Don’t think about anywhere else for lunch, go see Chris! We are bbq nuts so I wish I could help you choose what to order but it’s all good, maybe the brisket, definitely try all the sides– beans cooked under the smoking pork, tater salad with added bacon among other delightful ingredients, slaw with just enough of a touch of apple-​WOW, 5 stars ain’t enough!

The pulled pork sandwich is divine!!! The slab wrap is truly delightful! Every time we are in the area visiting my mom, we eat here practicality every day. Great food, friendly service. Truly an experience!

So glad we found the other reviews and stopped at this bbq truck! Had ribs, brisket sandwich and 2 sides (tater salad and bbq beans) — delicious! Sandwich came on a brioche type bun, meat was smokey and tender — both sauces tangy and flavorful. Tater salad and beans were clearly homemade with loving care –total comfort food. Would definitely try the tandoori wrap next time now that we know that the owner knows how to prepare such good food and innovate as well. Even the tea was great — made right there in front of you as sun tea!

Every time I pass through Freeport this place makes my stomach hungry. It’s one of those places that you learn to crave. You could call it the stomach yearning barbecue place. It’s absolutely amazing.

I’m partial to the smoked chicken pulled from the bone when ordered. Served with true home made potato salad and slaw. Very moist, tender, and tasty. Chris the owner is quite a skilled Q Man. Everything there is fresh and delicious. We go to 3 Sons when we have our RV at Live OK Landing RV Resort in Freeport. Easy to find on 331 next to Cypress Cattle and Produce. 5 stars for everything ordered. Try the slab wrap brisket for enjoying this type of smoked meat that’s not easy to find in this area of the country.

If there was a single good reason to stop on the way to Destin or 30A, it would be this barbecue. The ribs and chicken are very good with a nice smoky flavor and «made-​in-​house» sauces that don’t overpower the flavor of the meat. That would be a travesty! However, the must have is the brisket. After spending 15 years in Texas, I know good brisket and 3-​Sons makes it as good as it gets. My favorite is the «SLAB Wrap» which is is a brisket on a pita wrap with a special white barbecue sauce. Get there early because they sell out of the Slab wrap and the brisket almost daily. The only downside is that this place is not open on Sundays, so you can’t get a to go order for the ride home.

We were exploring the interior of Florida and checked Unilocal as we went through Freeport, so glad we did! The BBQ truck served up some excellent BBQ, we had the ribs which were fantastic, the beans had been slow cooked and were delicious, and even the coleslaw was excellent, fresh and crunchy, not too much dressing and not sweet. We also tried the pulled pork and brisket sandwiches and the husbands with us gave positive reviews. The guy running the operation was friendly as were the customers eating at picnic tables with umbrellas. Highly recommended.

By far the BEST barbecue we have EVER HAD! Who would have thought this kind of culinary perfection could come out of a no frills food truck! We stopped at 3 Sons because we had heard from a friend that this place was the best kept secret in the area — it was SO WORTH the trip over from the beach. We had a couple of pork sandwiches, the cole slaw, the Tater Salad and Brunswick Stew. The barbecue seems to have an influence from eastern Carolina style — spicy sweet leaves you wanting for another bite even after you’re totally full. The Brunswick Stew is home made and epitomizes what «comfort food» should be. The pulled pork sits atop a soft, buttery roll and melts in your mouth. We tried both the Georgia Sweet sauce and the spicy pepper BBQ sauce and enjoyed them both. We are definitely headed back to 3 Sons for our next barbecue fix — top on our list to try next time are the ribs and brisket which we hear is even better than the pulled pork.
The 3 Sons trailer truck sits back off the main 331 highway a bit so watch for it — it’s right next to the Cypress Cattle and Produce store. The owner and chef of 3 Sons served us our food personally and we had the opportunity to hear all about his cooking style — as he put it — «I don’t time my cook, I cook till it’s done right.» If you travel to the Destin/​Santa Rosa Beach area for vacation, be sure to stop in at 3 Sons during your drive over to the beach — the truck is located right off Hwy 331 as you go through Freeport. (331 is the exit you take off Interstate I-​10 if you fly into Fort Walton Beach.)

I try to eat BBQ everywhere I go. Stopped here at about 6 pm on a Tuesday night, and chatted with the owner, Chris. Before taking over this establishment Chris did a decade or so of BBQ competitions, and it shows.
I got the brisket sandwich, which Chris says he does with a rub that includes coffee. I couldn’t taste that, necessarily, but the meat was great. Juicy, thick cut slices. I haven’t tried all the BBQ in the area, so I can’t say for sure, but based on what I have tried this place is far better than the rest of its competition in the Panama City/​Destin section of the panhandle.
Didn’t try any sides, so I can’t comment.
