A surprisingly good collection for a small-town museum. They also have many good shows and opening throughout the year. The place has a knowledgeable and friendly staff.

Freeport is kind of like a dumb-looking jock with a secret arty side. This art museum showed me a side to Freeport that I had no idea existed… and I loved it. It’s small(you can probably get through the whole place in a little over an hour), but it has a lot of cool stuff. You can look at paintings, sculptures, and textiles from all over the world — my favorite items included a collection of pietre dure works, masks from Papua New Guinea, and the Mesoamerican pottery. From what I gather, the museum also frequently showcases work by local artists as well. The suggested donation for adults is $ 3. Support your local museums!
