This was the WORST meat I have ever had. The tea was only somewhat lukewarm, reminding me of my dirty dishes still soaking in their old dishwater back home. Next came the Caesar Salad that was prepared in front of us by our overwhelmed waitress. Our romaine, which tasted of preservatives, consisted of an overall styrofoam feel. It certainly was not ‘fresh’. It lacked dressing. Honestly the only part of this meal that was actually okay was our anchovies, which were straight from the can. With an excessive amount of pepper on the salad, I found myself desperate for more water which never seemed to appear. Finally, the main course arrived. My scallops were drenched in fat and grease. I know they are trying to go for a nautical theme, but swimming in grease is a bit overboard. What I think was suppose to be potatoes sitting at the bottom of my plate resembled more like the leftover French fries someone might find at McDonalds. Now I realize McDonalds would have been the better choice. I left with an empty belly, an empty wallet, and an empty bottle of Tums.

Atmosphere is the asset! Place is very beautiful and cozy. Wine list extensive. Service excellent. Food? Not so spectacular. Crab cakes not worth it. Crab MIA. Ribs were good with homemade beans that were very tasty. Lobster roll was good. True test was the blueberry pie… not even close to Jameson tavern across the street so go there for dessert. I found prices high for pub food. One annoyance was charge for a coke after having a rum and coke. Really?

Food is ok nothing special. The best part is the fire pit and how they give kids a marshmallow kit to roast. Makes the experience more interesting.

What a wonderful restaurant. The staff is very helpful towards each other, and they work very hard to eliminate any possible wait for their guests. I brought my little baby and they were very helpful to make us comfortable. I will definitively return and recommend!

Great food! Horrible service! We never had a water refill and the waiter forgot our second rounds of drinks. He never even checked to make sure everything was fine. Avoid the tall guy with salt and pepper hair. The young girl was very good at providing service to her table but would have been nice when refilling her tables water to offer to other tables instead of walking by

Really hard to rate this, it is not my type of food so it would be unfair to say good or bad. I am much more casual dinning. As are the 3 others that were with me me. If u r into fine dinning this may be the place for u.

This place used to be one of the best restaurants in Maine. My mother and I have enjoyed Christmas Eve dinner here for the past 10 years. However this year it appears they have changed chefs, the décor and really the entire approach to the restaurant. Where the menu used to fuse tradition with top quality and some unique variations, it’s now far more ‘nouveau cuisine’, that at least in my opinion does not work at all. My mother and I didn’t even get through 1⁄3 of our mains before deciding it just didn’t taste good enough to continue eating. That would have been unthinkable in any previous year. The décor has also been made for generic. What was once elegant, traditional New England now looks more like a chain restaurant, albeit an upscale one. This is reflected in the name change from the simple ‘Maine Dining Room’ to the rather pretentious ‘Maine Harvest’. As with the previous reviewer(with whom I think my mother spoke), we were seated in the ‘private dining room’ with aluminum/plastic chairs and no atmosphere whatsoever. The staff understood and reseated us immediately. The service was still good, it’s worth noting. So if any servers at the restaurant read this, please know it’s not at all aimed at you! This was such a great place. I don’t understand why it was felt necessary to change it. One of my favourite restaurants is no more!

I made a reservation two months in advance for Christmas Eve dinner at the Maine Harvest Dining Room for my family and my father, who was visiting from Vienna, Austria. When we arrived on this year’s cold, rainy Christmas Eve, the head waiter led us through two lovely, half-empty dining rooms with early American tables and chairs, one room with a lit fireplace, into what the head waiter called the«private dining room.» There were five of us, and we were seated at a mid 20th century dinette table for four, with dirty beige plastic upholstery. The color of the artificial fiber tablecloth on the table matched the color of the upholstery. When we expressed dissatisfaction with the dining room and the fact that the table was too small for five, the wait staff added a table and said brightly, does this work for you, now? That’s when we should have said, «no.» Unfortunately, we stayed to endure having to send back three cold dishes. When the dishes were returned to us, my father’s food was still cold. At the end of the evening, it was jarring to make our way back to the inn entrance through the lovely dining rooms, after having been seated in a room with the ambience of a church basement and served food not up to the standards of a church basement.

First visit here: Food was good. A terrific cup of Lobster stew with an entre of lobster pot pie. I expected some sort of pie crust like you would expect with chicken pot pie, but there was none. Lobster had bits of shell and flanges in it. Service quite blatantly sucked. Server took his time serving our table of 4 patrons– but tended to the party of 2 next to us regularly through the night. Waiter served us and asked if he could get us anything else, yet walked away before any of us answered him. Another waitress came over and refilled only one of our waters-she overloked the other empty water glass on the table. Later, we asked for a drink, never got it. Much later, asked for a scotch menu, never recieved it. We were left with dessert menu for at least 10 minutes and decided we didnt want to sink any more money here. Waiter brought check and walked away before we could ask for him to split the bill. He overcharged for an appetizer-which he did correct once we brought it to his attention. Would not go out of our way to visit again…

I have been hearing wonderful things about the Harraseekett Inn restaurant since I moved to Maine 15 years ago. I dined there for the first time and I am so confused and disappointed because it wasn’t even OK. I ordered the Escargot that came with a green sauce which was totally tasteless. The escargot arrived and it was lukewarm. My entrée was a clam fettuccini with white wine and basil. The pasta was so overcooked it disintegrated in my mouth and the clams were fishy fishy fishy. I had a wonderful time because I was in great company, but the food was awful. My boyfriend ordered perch with a bacon vinaigrette and a crab cake«thing» on the side. The food was tepid again, and fishy. I don’t like eating«fishy» fish. I didn’t think you could go wrong w a bacon vinaigrette, but I took a bite and my eyes started watering. I think all the vinegar on the dish pooled in that one bite(it hadn’t but it tasted so). It was inconsistent and confusing. I won’t recommend it and I won’t go back. On one positive note, the service was very pleasant and the atmosphere was nice.

The food is pretty good. I ordered the Maine lobster stew which is supposedly award winning and my friend loved the scallops. The reason for my review is that the service was so slow! Our waitress kept forgetting things and spilling things and we had to ask multiple times for things like water refills. Then our food got cold because it sat on the counter so long and the waitress forgot about it. I have not experienced service this bad in quite some time. Even though the food was good, I would not come back.

The food needed more spice. The salad was small. The pastry was dry. The seafood was not cooked properly. Our waitress, however, was professional.

Went to the Grand Easter Buffet today and it was far from Grand. Food was cold, buffet was in another room far from dining room which forced us to wend our way through lobby between kid guests on their way to the pool and guests stepping off elevator, and bill was $ 60 per person. Really disappointing.

This is an excellent hotel and restaurant. It really gives you all the comforts of home with a little bit of fine dining thrown in. Their service far exceeded my expectations. I will be returning next year and many more to come…”

Very quaint dining space in the lovely Harraseeket Inn. We had a table of 8, so I’ll just be reviewing what I ordered/shared. We started with the sweet potato gnocchi, which floated in a seat of butter, sage, and maple syrup. Very tasty. I recommend dipping some bread in the mix when the gnocchi have disappeared. We also had an oyster! Big day, as it was my first raw oyster.(Please keep your judgement to yourself.) Delicious, as well. The flavors complimented the oyster. It was a quick experience! My wife and I shared the Brussels sprout salad and the local greens salad. I couldn’t say which one I liked better, but I would take either on a second trip. Very different. For my entre, I went with a special, the pan roasted New York strip. It was served on a bed of risotto with a side of spinach. The meat was a little past medium rare, but still very good. I didn’t enjoy the sides by themselves, but went fantastically with the meat in one, well-assembled bite. My dessert was the blueberry pie with ice cream. Wonderful way to finish off the evening. Everything I was looking for. Some additional items of interest: *The food is from local farms. You find out where your salad started! *Only tables of 7 or less are treated to the table-side cooking. *Greg, while a very capable server, wasn’t super friendly. In conclusion, the«Maine Dining Room» is worth checking out if you are looking a tasty, local option.

Out visiting the rellies and thy suggested this place for lobster. We were three and ordered the lobster delight(1 whole lobster, a dozen steamers and a cob if corn) we ordered another cob on the site. We got a nice big platter of food and everything was excellent and it cost about $ 30. We split a huge whoopie for desert(a bit sweet) but home made.

The food was amazing but it was way overpriced. It was pretty empty when we went(8pm). We ordered cocktails off the menu. There was no bartender so the server had to look up how to make our drinks.

Whoa. Just whoa. I started my meal with a tomato/bacon soup which had a disturbing lack of tomato flavor. it didn’t bother me since it was delicious, but I was still worried about what the rest of our meal would be like. For entrees my fiancée went with a Lobster/pastry dish — which was ridiculously good, and I don’t even like lobster that much(unless it’s DRENCHED in butter– which this wasn’t). I got the New York Strip with risotto… unreal. the steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The risotto was as flavorful as possible. For desert we went for the Harraseeket Crapes. Crapes cooked in butter and booze — flambé. then Strawberries cooked the same… then ice cream on top… I’m not even joking I would eat this till my stomach exploded. Oh and did I mention they cook this in front of you at the table? pretty cool

This is one of those places that I would rank as one of the top dining experiences of my life. The service is impeccable. The food is top notch. I’ve spent the past ten years eating at some of the top culinary darlings in SF, NYC, Boston and Chicago and I have to put this place on the same scale. One of my favorite perks about this place is that they still have stations where they will come over and prepare your Caesar salad from scratch, flambee dessert and other little dishes – I don’t want to spoil the surprise! It is more of a special occassion place and not one where you can dine out on a quotian basis. It’s really one of the gems of the Maine cooking scene. Be sure to come here at least once in your life!
