Returned to Nautilus café for Sunday early bird dinner with a group of 9 people. Service was flawless and the early bird special is a fantastic deal with lots of food. Key standouts include the coconut shrimp appetizer, full cut prime rib and an amazing Halibut special with lobster sauce and shrimp. Service was excellent and we had the same waiter twice. So accommodating and pleasant. We will return. This restaurant is a gem on the nautical mile and many thanks to the wonderful waiter who was very patient. We had the big booth in the corner.

Came to this place on a whim in some serious mood for seafood. Clam chowder soup, Caesar salad, 2 pound lobster with family style sides of creamed spinach and crispy onions AND cheesecake desert. No complaints on the food everything was delicious. The Nautical Mile is definitely a gem and a nice place to get away without going very far.

Came here for a late night dinner on a Friday night. Matt waited our table, he was very attentive and provided satisfactory service. The quality of the food was great! I ordered the Cedar Planked Atlantic Salmon, it literally melted in my mouth. My boyfriend ordered the Filet of Sole, Sauté Meunière, he was quite impressed with the portion and seasoning. Yes this restaurant is pricey indeed but in my opinion you’re getting your monies worth. I would recommend this place for a romantic dinner or for a birthday dinner with a small crowd.

The food was good but the prices high for the portion and the service was pretty slow. We even got thirsty waiting for water refills. Beware sharing charge per the menu. Friday night, 3 people, had a reservation. The fried calamari special was good. My friend had that as her meal. I had the Panko Crusted Bronzini. It was delicious. Sides cost extra so the plate looked empty with just the fish portion on it. Good thing it at least came with salad and I stole some of my friend’s calamari. Other friend ordered the skirt steak. She ordered medium and it was way too rare. She sent it back for more cooking and it stilk cane back too pink but she dealt with it. Had onions on top, which she did not like. This plate also looked sad with just meat on it.(Correction — meat covered in grilled onions.) This also came with a salad but my friend does not like salads so she ate a lot of bread. Didn’t hate the place but wouldn’t come back and wouldn’t recommend to friends or family. Next time will go somewhere with at least a little more for your money and outdoor seating.

First time going to Nautical Mile(after living in Rockville Centre for over 2 years), and thanks to trusty Unilocal, found this place! Went with my father for the early bird special(which he very much appreciated). Walked in, and thought I was in a nursing home, but must say was pleasantly surprised. Service, food, all of the above were EXCELLENT!!! Even though the décor hasn’t changed in probably 30 years, the food has kept up with the times, and they just know what they need to do. Crusted Branzini and Tuna dishes were fabulous!!! Shout out to Laura, the server, who went above and beyond. All of the places on the mile should mirror after this place as it seems like one of the few that has been standing forever. Will definitely be going back, and maybe even for the early bird, so we can check out some of the bars along the water.

Continues to deliver consistent, fresh food in a nice atmosphere looking down on the Freeport Nautical mile. Some of the staff have been there for many years and continue to serve with pride. Small bar and good drinks, but the place is about the food and service. I’ll be back soon.

Best food by far on the Nautical Mile. Consistent, clean and upscale compared to the rest of the places in Freeport. Seafood is fresh and the place is clean. I’ve eaten here several times in the past 12 years I’ve lived in Freeport. Great to see that it has never changed! I’ll be back for the Lobster special that’s for sure!

Saturday night beginning of spring. Did not have a reservation but was seated quickly close enough to the windows to enjoy the view of the boats passing and some night sky. Our waiter was kind and attentive. The baked clam appetizer was nothing special. More bread and cheese than clam. The bread bowl was a nice surprise. Warm spreadable butter and 4 different kinds of bread. All very delicious. He had the salmon. Honestly this was the best part of the meal. It was cooked perfectly and the flavor was spot on. It was not overpoweringly salmon-y and the maple glaze gave it a great texture. The Manhattan clam chowder was par. At the table we were very impressed, but in retrospect not as much. I had the shrimp and corn chowder as recommended by our waiter, which was delicious. It was thick and creamy with plenty of shrimp. I then had the soft shell crab. Slightly undercooked center and overcooked extremities. The flavor was awful and while I normally adore the salt water accents, here it tasted artificial. Like these crabs were raised in a fish tank of tap water and table salt. We did not stay for desert. He only had a few bites off my plate but still managed to get food poisoning. He fell victim in the middle of the night, I thought I was clear till the following morning.

Went for a nice Saturday lunch. Started with a glass of wine and a Caesar salad. The salad and wine were excellent. We were very excited to share and order or fish and chips. The fries were delicious. Unfortunately, the fish was still frozen in the middle… completely frozen. Management was very polite and did not charge us for anything. As we were no longer hungry, we decided not to order anything else. It was an unfortunate experience, but at least the staff handled it properly.

Chilling on a Sunday night, decided to walk up the block from my house to my neighborhood Prime Rib spot. Always on point with my soups and desserts. Had lobster tails and whole lobster.
