Trimz Barber Shop

Inexpensive, clean, professional and quality cuts. Special deals during the week, but walked in on a Saturday and got cut for $ 10. Can’t beat that.

Awkward. Horrible.
I visited this barbershop this past weekend. Upon walking in. it’s layout was different but cool. I guess. Benches were dead smack in the middle between barbers so the first issue I had was which way to face. Awkward.
Then I found out I had to enter my name into a computer. Why? Who knows. I just want a simple haircut. I’m not here to make friends or to sign up for future promotions. Awkward.
Never the less I complied and sat down to a barber that looked more than capable of giving me a simple line up. BUT wasn’t. it went smoothly at first and then the butchery started. Cutting my head 3 times before I had a chance to shout.
Lastly, if a barber is cutting ones hair. Why the need to be on the phone. I wouldn’t mind a hands free device but saw numerous barbers with a phone in one hand and clippers in the next! Very unprofessional!
I will never ever ever return to this establishment.

I liked this place from the moment I walked in, When I first saw it from the outside I said to myself «it must cost an arm and a leg to get a cut here» because it looked so modern, non the less I went inside because my son desperately needed a cut. When I got inside I was pleasantly pleased not only to learn that the cuts were reasonable but that the shop was not full of old men but that there was a variety of barbers to choose from.
What I liked most about this place was that they run this place like a true business, when you enter there is someone there to check you in so that there is no confusion as to whose next and it is all run by computer. They even offer you a membership that’s free and it entitles you to a free birthday cut and they have specials for their members on Tuesdays and Wednesdays ($ 7 cuts you can’t beat that with a stick).
You can walk-​in and get a cut or for a bit more you could make an appointment that way there would be no waiting and on my schedule appointments work perfectly for me.

It pains me to write this review, but in truth in the 6 or so times I’ve visited trimz, i have never had a good experience.
The owner is a great guy and a decent barber, he’s friendly, patient, and just cool. The shop has a great vibe to it with great music and the prices are outstanding. $ 10 for a regular haircut and even cheaper on tuesday’s and wednesday’s. There are some things though that I don’t care for.
The waiting area consists of 2 benches which are very uncomfortable and located in between the 5 chairs in the shop. It can get very tiring waiting while sitting on a bench with no back. Because of the low price and the small space you can find yourself waiting a very long time to get a cut as well. The cuts too leave much to be desired.
I sat with four different barbers in my time visiting Trimz. The owner was the best of the barbers, but the other three were not so great. One gave me razer burn so bad it stung for a week. While taking a razer to head he used such little lubrication that you would think shaving cream was fetching a higher price than gold. This barber also could not for the life of him line up a goatee. Another barber spent so much time with the clippers on the back of my head that when he used alcohol at the end of the cut i nearly screamed out in pain. The back of my head was red for a couple of days. Finally another barber cut my hair well, but held the clippers on my forehead so long that when i got home i actually found the clippers had torn some skin off. I had a small harry potter-​esque scar 4 days.
All in all i like Trimz, i like the location, i like the price, and i like the feel. The owner is an incredibly cool guy as well. I just cannot recommend the shop though with the skill level of the barbers.

Nice location, located off of Sunrise Hwy. Online appointment available, walk ins are welcome. Very organized barbershop. I go there every week or bi-​weekly. Best barbershop on Long Island
