American High School Performing arts is a student theatre company at American High. The director of its annual school plays(in the fall) and school musicals(in the spring) are directed by the school’s Drama teacher, Mr. River. Each year, he does a great job directing each school plays and musicals, and Mr. Wong does a great job coordinating the music that plays in the background of the plays. Despite not seeing any of the play or musicals in 9th grade or 10th grade, I did saw the best musicals in 11th and 12th grade. The lead character in some of those musicals was Julia Lyell. She is one of the best AHSPA performers I’ve ever seen. I would recommend others who attend American High School to see one of those musicals.

American High School Performing Arts is a non profit student theatre company that hosts an annual school play(in the fall) and a school musical(in the spring) every year, which is directed by our school Drama teacher Mr. River. I kinda regret not going to watch the fall play or musical my Freshman Year of Sophomore Year of high school. It wasn’t until my Junior year of high school when my English teacher offered extra credit, then did I go watch the Spring Musical that year. Ever since Junior Year, I’ve been going to watch both the fall play and spring musicals. Let me start out by saying, the plays are all student run, meaning they are produced by students(with the help of Mr. River of course), in this case high school students varying from 9th graders(Freshmen), 10 graders(Sophomores), 11th graders(Juniors) and then 12th graders(Seniors). Throughout my years of high school, I have seen the following plays and musicals: Fall Plays: *The Children’s Hour by Lillian Hellman Spring Musicals: *I Love You Because *The Wedding Singer *Little Shops of Horror Every year, Mr. River does an extremely well done job directing the plays and musicals, and Mr. Wong does a well done job with coordinating the music that goes along with the play or musical. The students that essentially produce the play are so talented, Mr. River hand picks each one of them based off auditions held. I’m not just giving it a 5 because some of my friends have been in the play, but because they’ve all been TOTALLYAWESOME! In my opinion the best one I’ve seen so far was«The Wedding Singer», I liked that one the most. However recently, I just saw«Little Shop of Horror» which was also pretty intriguing and amazing! I’m really glad I got to see not only my friend perform in the musical, but the musical in general as well. Really, really well thought out play. It went well. Back in 2012 the prices to see the play was $ 4 students & $ 5 General admission, however currently now the prices are $ 10 for students, and $ 12 for general admission. Shout out to all my friends that have been in plays & musicals I’ve watched here throughout my high school years! This review is for you guys! Each and every one of you guys deserve the recognition! :) If you haven’t see one of these school plays, I highly recommend you go take the time to truly come and watch one because these are held every year. *Keep in mind my 5 star reviews is solely based on the Performing Arts & Plays/Musicals. The school itself is a whole different story.* SUPPORTYOURLOCALSCHOOL, COMEANDWATCH! #EAGLENATION
