I may be biased, but having worked here one summer 4 years ago, I can honestly say that the place just slid past its time and its demographic. Back then it was under«Lili» and not«Linda». The front workers were all fast, good looking: D, and the food hard to find. Years later as the demographic focus became middle-aged Chinese-Americans and their families, the place started to lose its luster. All the specials meant to entice late-night youngsters out disappeared. The hours shrank from 1 a.m. to midnight, and finally to 10:30 p.m. I give Bobar props for lasting a good amount of time(5 yrs.), awesome chefs, and some now lost goodies such as the green onion pancakes and beef stew noodle soup. Yes, people can whine about the funky décor, or the ONE drink(why do people go to milk tea places for slushies!!!) they had, or the antagonistic owner(agreed), but in reality, this was a classic family owned bubble tea store — nothing like the chain stores Quicklys, Tapioca Express or Q-Cup. In this life, food reigns king. And the closing of Bobar only leaves me a bit empty.

If this place is indeed closed, its probably for the collective good. My first impression of this place walking in was that I forgot to take off my sunglasses. Check that, it just is THAT dark inside. Weird atmosphere, but it seemed to be clean and had plenty of seating. It had plenty of seating available because nobody was inside. Nobody even working the counter that I could see, until a lady came out from the dimly lit backroom. I ordered a mango slush — «slush» as a descriptive term was a stretch. I probably could’ve gotten finer chunks of ice by taking a hammer to a block of ice. She scooped a pre-made«slush» from the freezer compartment into my cup, and the cup directly to my hand. If i was looking for premade slush i’d have just gotten a case of Capri sun and tossed it in the freezer. This place sorta epitomizes the once golden bubble tea joints that are past their prime.

This is the worst tapioca place ever. We went there probably ½ hour before closing. I ordered a black tea with pearls and some crispy chicken. Both items were not even close to comparable with any other tapioca place.

I come here pretty much whenever I’m in Fremont. The food selection is great and the price is reasonable. I would choose Bobar over Quickly. Taking away 2 stars because of the unpleasant experience of seeing the owner of Bobar literally bitch at a customer because the customer simply requested a small cup of faucet water after purchasing a bunch of drinks. And attitude is sometimes, almost often, served along with your drink(which can really make a happy customer’s day crappy).

This place has a similar setup to most tapioca places – with the vast menu lined all over one side of the wall. I wanted to try their taro drink, and when asked if they used real taro the cashier says ‘very little’ with his pointer finger and thumb finger close together depiciting the minute amount they put in it. Having gone to so many places and tried powder and real taro drinks, there’s no way I would settle for powder. So.. .I order their chicken combo with almond. The drink comes out first and it’s comparable to most tapioca places-tastes sweet and slightly creamy. The pearls were chewy and slightly hard at the core. Then out comes the chicken fresh from the fryer served in the small size chinese take out box. The chicken had a good salty balance to it and they were good chunky sized amounts unlike the bits I would get from Qcup. Overall, not too shabby – decently priced, wide variety to choose from, and good chicken.

I consider myself hard to impress, and I got to cut this place some slack. Whenever i get food, I’m usually satisfied. They do a good job with getting the food right, and served hot :) However, today i guess was a bad day. There was only worker and he just couldn’t handle it. He was making so many drinks and handling the register that, he even made more drinks for my friends and I that we almost took the extra drink. Poor guy. I guess i blame this on poor management. The guy looked like he was a little frazzled by it all, and although he did get my meal right in the end, i guess overall looking back this place isn’t excellent given the crowd. I am a little bothered by their lack of interesting music, with ESPN playing most of the time and loud rap music. How about a little jazz music or something less harsh? Typically the crowd that comes in becomes more like hoodlums because they feel at home, ha ha. Kudos to cleanliness because every time i come here i never have complaints about dirt or anything of that nature. Drinks leave more to be desired. I feel the menu is becoming more and more confusing and i wish there were more exotic drinks like a maacha or some more healthy non-sweetened fresh teas.

I love their coconut shrimp and crêpe combo with a free boba drink. I don’t like the way their tables and chairs was setup, it looks like a day care classroom. It would have been better if they put up some cozzy chairs and magazines for their customers.

I just tried this place for the first time ever. That is, since this place changed names and perhaps owners. I remember when I used to live in the area and it was a Q Cup location. Anyway, I had the black milk tea with pearls or boba. I have to say that the drink was as good as Tapioca Express and the other chains. I was also surprised to see that they have a very large menu, just like Tapioca Express and Q Cup. And the prices are very reasonable.

I remember when this was Qcup and it was kidna busy but now it seems like ppl go here just bc of location convenience. Which is why WE went since we were craving crepes near home. The girl(Chinese, long hair, HUGE problem with the world) was soo crappy and was pissed off when my sister asked for ice cream on the side so it wouldn’t melt as we took it to go. She slams the ice cream door, throws down the scooper and shoves the bag at me. Needless to say I tell her her attitude isn’t appreciated and she has the nerve to say«same to you» and«the ice cream is supposed to melt!». Um yeah there were TWO customers in the whole place at 10 pm on a Saturday night. Like she had something better to do than package my crêpe and ice cream ONTHESIDE nicely =P. Ooh forgot to review the crêpe. So it tasted okay when we got home – decently sized crêpe but filled with a tiny amount of fruit – ½ a banana, 2 strawberries, ½ kiwi. At least she gave us a decent sized scoop of vanilla before I yelled at her even though it was icy =).

Bobar’s ambiance is typical of your average boba place… clean, bright & trendy. There are two LCD tvs that were on sports channels. Tables near the front can fit four people and in the back there are two tables that can fit six people each. The yogurt slushy with mango jelly is the BESTEVER! Not too sweet, watery or thick. Tapioca Express’ doesn’t even compare to this one(it’s way too sweet). My friends got the crepes, popcorn chicken, yam fries, rice dishes and said they were pretty good. This place will be worth the 15 – 20 min drive during my lunch break!

I love me my crepes, but I cannnnnnnn’t stand the service here. If you’re here literally a minute after they stop selling crepes(an hour before they close at night) then they will straight up refuse to make you one. Wha? Don’t you want to make your $ 5 profit off of me for a little fruit wrapped in batter? I’m not a big fan of Bobar(or Qcup or TapEx for that matter) for tea drinks — definitely hit up TenRen or Tea Station instead for more authentic, less sweetened/watered down tea.

I used to go here when they first opened and had the name Qcup. After a name change and a change of ownership, I still find myself coming here as it’s Bobar now. They have a large menu with many types of teas and foods. I prefer their popcorn chicken over other places. Their fried rice is good, but it’s really oily for those who fear it. They started offering free wifi recently. They have two plasmas going, but it’s a different channel each, with the speakers playing a radio instead. It’s a good place for teens and college students to venture in for food. They close at 10:30pm weekdays, open till midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

I used to work at Bobar back in my high school days. Gosh, I worked here for almost 3 years I think. Anyhow, I haven’t gone there in about 2 years now, but I always remember that Bobar had much better Boba/Tea/Smoothie drinks than many other places such as Tapioca Express or Qcup. Also, Bobar has a lot of meal plates and lunch boxes that other Boba places don’t. They have everything from fried rice to fried noodles, to pork buns. I remember the food being pretty good too. I would always eat at work or take some food home. I don’t know how it is now. But maybe I’ll have to go back and check it out sometime.

Pretty cheap drinks and had a nice inside, i guess trying to copy the other big tapioca places… but whatever. Had a large menu of drink and and some outside chairs you could sit on. Came with a large group and ended up ordering a honey dew drink that was pretty good.

I love this place for my usual Jasmine Milk tea with Grass Jelly drink. The thai tea is yummy too. Clean moderate prices. I have been back numerous times.

I give their Phily Steak Fried Rice 5 stars. It’s the one dish I keep coming back for more. As for the drink I stick with the Jasmine tea, no milk, no pearl. Service is good, friendly owners and staff. There’s always a place to sit, but then again, I haven’t been there late, usually very early, before dinner or dinner time. One time I called in for a big order and they took care of it promptly, no problem. Pricing is very reasonable, along the same level as any tea places around.

Mediocre crepes, the outside of it was a little tough. Interesting décor, they still have Xmas decorations up… time to take it down I’d say… it is almost April. Their popcorn chicken is not bad. Boba milk tea was not so good says the boyfriend. He had the pork over rice and said it was disgusting. Won’t be coming back anytime soon.

Went here the other night to shoot the breeze with some friends. While the drinks were nothing out of the ordinary for a boba place. Their crepes smelled delicious but we were too full from dinner to try one. They had wide screen LCDs playing ESPN and some music videos and it was clean and well lit. What was great about this place was when we were perusing the menu and item number 201 caught our eye on the big plastic menu on the wall. It read«Hot Gross Jerry … 2.95» Ok so I’m not sure that was the right price, but the sign really did say Hot Gross Jerry!!! Instead of hot grass jelly. Hilarious.

Very clean with pretty bright modern décor inside which is a rarity for a mom/pops. Minus a star for a no CC/ATM acceptance policy but their menu is pretty extensive. This is one of those pearl tea/boba shops. This one isn’t really much of a hangout as it’s kinda hidden off in a small shopping center in the Warm Springs area of Fremont so it’s not as busy as some of the bigger chains. I usually get«the works» which is a dessert crêpe with everything. It’s always made perfectly in a nice soft pillowy box shaped treat with strawberry sauce zig zagged across the top. Get the yam fries with it but one word of advice. For some reason it does not taste good when it’s been kept steaming and made soggy by the accumulated condensation inside the to go box. This has to be eaten there. Extra star for being opened till 2am. Yes, 2am in Fremont.
