Fremont Travelodge

For the price I think I could’ve stayed somewhere a little nicer. It was ok. Kind of run down. A pool was listed in amenities, but it was disgusting. The room was just so-​so. I would’ve felt better had I paid less.

Our room did not look like the room that has pics posted on Unilocal.
It was kind of dirty and outdated. Yes, there was a flat screen. Yes, there was a microwave. Yes, there was a fridge. Those three things would make you assume that this is a nice place. You’d be wrong.
You know how when people with dirty hands rub their hands along the wall enough times near a light switch the paint changes colors? Yeah… that’s what was happening in the bathroom. There were little chips out of the lamp shades. The carpet was dirty. The carpet in the hallway was dirty. The wallpaper border was peeling.
Overall…I just don’t think a whole lot of effort goes into the cleanliness of this place. Generally, I think that a hotel/​motel will be decent enough if it has WiFi, a fridge, microwave, and flat screen… I’m no longer going to make that assumption.
The ONLY reason I’m giving this place 2 stars is based on the price. It was a Saturday night and we paid under 80 bucks out the door. The peace of mind that you’re not contracting something would have been worth the extra 20 – 30 dollars.

I’ll give it 4 stars despite being frustrated with the staff. As I am writing this review the door opened and closed — no knock — house keeping. There is no «do not disturb» and the security latch on the door is broken. The room key will not let you in the side door to the exceptionally long hotel, but that doesn’t matter since t he door is broken and anyone can walk in. Also the WiFi is a joke, especially if you are in one of the rooms which are far away from the router. Last night we had no WiFi at all. The continental breakfast was a basket of Honeybuns and some awful coffee. Be on time, the Honeybun basket is removed promptly at 9:01.The lobby smells funny, my daughter’s words not mine.
After all that, I will still give it 4 stars because the price was right for the region. The rooms are clean. The staff is inept but friendly enough. The rooms are large and the TV works fine. The bathrooms are also sizable and the air conditioning works great.

We spend about 10 months out of the year on the road. See a lot of hotels. This one hits in the middle for value.
Older hotel but nice upgrades. Appears to be recently renovated. Checkin was nice and we feel comfortable.
Outside the bustle of the big city.
