This is supposed to be the classy place in Fremont however it was nothing more than an over priced bar. If I’m going ti pay $ 35+ for a steak I’m not going to do it at a place where the drunk ladies at the end of the bar are screaming at the top of their lungs and the bartender is screaming back. Or in a place in which the bartender points out to a female patron«you almost lost that bite on your boob». The service was horrible and arrogant. The app we had was pretty good but I’m not dropping $ 75 at a place that is this classless. So once the server found out we were only getting an app he couldn’t be bothered. Just don’t go. Not worth the money.

Went for lunch after a kids soccer game. They where some what busy at the time. The service was friendly and quick. Ordered a turkey Reuben and cheese burger. Very tasty and would go again if in the area.

J’s is a restaurant in town I want to be be better, but it just won’t be. The food quality can come and go on any given night, and can vary by the segment of the meal you’re eating. You can have a pretty decent appetizer(on a good night, I’d recommend the calamari) but then have a really terrible drink and main course that would be enough to ruin the entire experience. I’ve had good meals and bad meals here, but come regularly because it is a good place in town to take out of town family, or enjoy a quick drink before heading out of town. Again, on a good night, I’d recommend the California chicken — the mix of capers and wine sauce was delicious. I’ve also had a good burger here as well. My husband’s had a steak or two and wasn’t blown away by either. I’d stay away from their soup purees, as I’ve experienced consistent disappointment from every dish I’ve tried so I stopped ordering. The staff are very friendly, though many times they get distracted with one another and ignore their tables and customers. I’ve sat here many times where it’s taken me 20 minutes to get a simple beer from the bar; at it’s worst delivery, my appetizer had been delivered and devoured before I ever received a glass of water to drink. Proceed with caution, and keep an open mind. If you’re unhappy with your food, it is well within your ability to send it back to the kitchen. I’ve done this and had good results that come back out.

Had a really good ribeye last night at J’s. The cut was really good, as I expect here in the heart of cattle country. It was prepared perfectly, which I also expect from every steakhouse but rarely find. The chef knew how to properly cook a steak. Bravo! Ambience was good. Service was very good and very friendly. I will definitely eat here again and recommend anyone else visiting Fremont to do so.

Nice décor. Food was ok, not anything to wow you. Service was friendly but slow. We went for lunch on Saturday. The whole time we were there they had 2 tables in the windows on Main St. that needed cleared off. It wasn’t busy by any means. I think the girl waiting tables was also running the kitchen.

Terrible service. I had to take my food with me as I waited 50 mins for my food

Menu has changed, ate here again last night. I still really enjoyed it, had a ribeye with balsamic glaze on it. Wine list was good, salad was good. Daughter loved lobster davinci, wife liked lobster Mac and cheese

I’ve been here a several times while traveling on business. Every time I came in the food was excellent and the service was fantastic. If you are in the Fremont area give this place a try you won’t be disappointed.

The kind folks here went above and beyond to help me with a special request and make my uncle’s birthday extraordinary. His words, «The best rib eye I’ve had in over 5 years.»

I’m on the fence with this review because I know a few people in the building and I certainly don’t want to upset anyone. The food was okay. Worth a 30 – 40 minute drive? No. Half price bottles of wine… okay. I had a great time here with my family but would not make it the whole purpose of a trip to Fremont.

The atmosphere is very nice. Our waiter bryon was the best. The soup was good. Wife had a salad crisp fresh. The steak Ribeye was not a 30 dollar award winner. I do think I May try another place for steak.

We haven’t had supper here for a year and a half, but my boyfriend suggested we give it another try. «Babe, it can’t be as bad as [name a Fremont trainwreck]. We haven’t been there in 18 months, maybe they got a new chef? Or maybe he took some lessons?» Nope, J’s hasn’t improved. The chef(okay, COOK) didn’t improve over time. I don’t know why I agreed to eat there that night. Guess I was hungry and didn’t want to start another argument over Fremont’s lack of quality restaurants. My son ordered the kids cheeseburger with chips. The«homemade» chips were so burnt that he didn’t eat half of them. The cheeseburger was an adult portion, way too much for a kid. He barely ate 1⁄3 of the burger. My boyfriend ordered a steak with potatoes and veg. It’s a steak, he’s practically a carnivore, it worked(although his steak was not seasoned at all). I ordered the steak and shrimp kabobs with fingerling potatoes and seasonal veg. I was completely dumbfounded when the server asked how I wanted my steak done. It’s a kabob! Whatever. Just feed me. When we were served, it was extremely obvious that the entire dish lacked seasoning. NO salt or pepper whatsoever! The first kabob had shrimp, onion, pineapple, bell pepper, and topped with a grape tomato. The shrimp was horribly overcooked, rubbery and hard with a touch of freezer burn. Again, no salt and pepper. Also, despite the shrimp being overcooked, the veggies on that particular skewer were still raw. The other kabob had steak, onion, bell pepper, and was also topped with a grape tomato. This skewer’s veggies were actually cooked quite well, and the steak was tender, but again, NOTEVENSALTANDPEPPER. If it wasn’t improper to spit food into a napkin and illegal to walk out without paying, I would have done both. I just don’t understand how this restaurant is «so popular» with Fremonters and the people who say they come from wherever to eat here. SPAREME. I’m done. I’m not going back in 18 months to see if the food has improved. I’m not going back, EVER.

OK, I would like to start off by stating, I am not a «tool» who is confusing this restaurant with a different J’s. I am pretty sure I was at J’s in Fremont, NE the Saturday evening of July 14, 2012. I wanted to check this place out as I know this is the same owner that will be opening another place in Omaha’s Old Market(the old Passport). Which is one of the best buildings in the Old Market. With this being said, I really wanted to like this place because I want the new location in Omaha to be a success as I just love the ascetics of the old Passport. Sadly, I think the new J’s that will be opening in Omaha is doomed for failure if it is run in any resemblance to the J’s in Fremont. My family of four, wife and my two girls, 10 and 6 walk in around 7:30PM on Saturday. Place is busy and clearly understaffed. We wait for 20 min before anyone even acknowledges our presence. We are finally given a table. We wait yet another 15 min before anyone even approaches us. We give them a drink order; it is another 10 – 15 min before we get those! Mind you, we have been here for 45+ min and we just got our drinks! The poor waitress, who is clearly stressed(and hating life because this place is so poorly run) comes over to take order. I order Prime Rib(they are out it), I order the Lamb Chops(they are out of it), and I order the Pork Chop(they are out of it). She also says they are out of one of the fish(I forget which one). Really, I mean REALLY! On a Saturday night at 7:30 — 8:00 you are out of all of this! I was almost scared to order anything else! I order a NY Steak, medium rare(wish they would have been out of this too), my wife orders a pasta dish, my ten year old a salad and yes, and believe it or not my 6 year old ordered mussels(she just loves them). We wait for at least 30 min to get meal. When it comes, my steak cooked to beef jerky like consistency, my wife’s pasta is so cold the cream based sauce is actually starting to set-up! I asked my ten year old for a bite of her salad and it was actually a little warm(you could tell it was sitting out at room temp for some time). Even the mussels were not correct(thank god they were hot) but they did not removed any of the beards from them and most had sand in them! All mussels have this; you just need to know how to handle them in the kitchen before you cook them. The kitchen staff clearly has no talent at all. I could not try and fix or return any of this because after the food was dropped off, the next time we saw anyone was when they were bring the bill to me! I did not pay for the NY Steak, it was simply horrible. I have eaten at many different places throughout the USA. This was pretty much one of the worst dining experiences we have experienced. To the owners of J’s, good luck in the Old Market!

J’s is a great restaurant. I’m adding some more on here because a couple of tools who confused J’s with a two star mich. restaurant trashed it. I’ve eaten at J’s about 30 times and have been very pleased 29 of the 30. J is pompous and it’s awesome. He’s funny and entertaining. If instead of attacking him, try to engage him, I find that hes willing to listen and is very generous. It’s the nicest restaurant in Fremont with a very good staff. Don’t let the one star jackasses ruin your impression.

The drinks were FANTASTIC. I tipped the bartender double what I tipped the waitress.(they got an extra star for the drinks. Had the drinks been as awful as the food and service, I would have given them 1 star) The food was mediocre, to say the least. I was impressed with the escargot appatizer, but that was it. The cheeseplate that we ordered came only with 3 of the 5 cheeses that it should have come with, and when we asked the waitress about it, she brought out the head chef, who lied to us and said that there were 4 of the cheeses on the plate(still one less than we ordered), when we knew there were only 3. We didn’t get a discount, or the dish for free. The maincourse was a steak, which yes, was cooked perfectly, but it had way too much fatty tissue on it– I brought a good half of the steak home for my dogs as scraps. The steak wasn’t seasoned at all. I had to add salt and pepper to the steak. For as much as I paid for this steak, I shouldn’t have had to add ANYTHING to it. I’ve had better steaks at Lonestar(and for ¼ the price). To top it all off, we were the only patrons in the place at the time(it had just opened for dinner) and our service was terrible, and the waitress seemed rude, or disinterested, or just distracted by her dinner and cigarette waiting for her in the back. Had I not been a server before, she wouldn’t have got a tip at all. Instead she got exactly 10%. I’m hoping she noticed. IF I ever eat here again, it will be an appatizer and drink at the bar.
