Dr Chen is very capable. 4.5 starts. Nice office equitments. Wish a stronger management. They charge $ 10(with doctor apppointment) for handling the DMV Application fro Disabled Person Placard or Plates for only 6 months. 3 –ve starts. A few staffs(like Steve) there are really nice and helpful. Wish they work there all the time.

DONOTCOMEHERE. I did not have much choice in finding a cardiologist for my dad, who only speaks Chinese Mandarin. Dr. Chen was pretty much the only Mandarin speaking doctor with the most experience in the Fremont area. It only took my dad and I one visit to decide that we were never coming back, ever. My dad’s initial consultation was at 10:30AM, we arrived on time but waited OVER1.5 hours to be seen by Dr. Chen. When he was finally seen, Dr. Chen did not ask any medical history. My dad had just had a stroke and was in danger having heart problems because he was forced to stop all blood thinners. Dr. Chen did not care to view where his previous two stents had been and just assumed and said«it is highly unlikely there will be a blockage with your stents.» I then asked if he wanted to know where the stents were put in place. It turns out he contradicted himself and ended up saying something along the lines of… oh, that spot it is very likely to accumulate blockage and is very dangerous. Uh, seriously? So unprofessional. He went on to say that the previous doctor who did my dad’s stents should’ve chosen a bypass… and that he chose the wrong method.(Sorry doc, but the guy who did my dad’s stents is one of the best cardiologists in CA and actually mentors a bunch of new cardiologists.) The total time he saw my dad for was 10 minutes, and it was 10 minutes of absolute nonsense. I wanted to ask questions after the 10 minutes but he ushered us out… so that he could have his lunch. I now take my dad to a Mandarin speaking cardiologist in Palo Alto. It is a bit inconvenient, but a loved one’s health is nothing to joke about. SUMMARY: DON’T COMEHERE. YOUHAVEBETTERALTERNATIVES. Pros: You will get an appointment because they pack their appointment schedules tightly without care. Cons: Incompetent staff(that is another story), ridiculous wait times, uncaring doctor

If I can give this unprofessional practice negative stars, I would. This practice is notorious around the Chinese-American community for the rudeness of its office staff and has been criticized on local newspapers. The insulting office manager(Lin Lin) is a nightmare who not only lacks a sense of responsibility but is also confrontational with patients, raising her voice and barking at helpless seniors with limiting Medicare insurance who aren’t capable of retaliating. I took my grandmother for an appointment for a pneumonia shot, only to find that they never had it in stock. We made the appointment a month and a half ago. Not only did the office manager not apologize for the mistake and their failure to contact us beforehand, she rhetorically asked me if I wanted her to «punish and fire» the assistant who made the appointment when we calmly asked for an explanation. Raising her voice, she angrily asked me if I «was done speaking» when I tried to patiently explain to her that we drove thirty miles for an invisible shot and only want an explanation. She then proceeded to yell at my grandmother in Chinese, and then begin barking at her in English, clearly with derogatory intent since she knows full well that my grandmother could not understand. Her confrontational attitude made us, the victims, feel like the culprit. Never have I experienced such an abusive environment. The irony was painful; she somehow turned the tables on us for being responsible patients who showed up for a scheduled appointment. Needless to say, we are taking our business somewhere else. Exercise your right as patients and choose healthcare providers that treat you with dignity and respect.
