Rick’s Sundale Barber Shop

This review is for Steve. He always seems to make us laugh when we’re there waiting for the cut. He does a good job with both my boys hairs but mainly one of my older boys. Since they both see different barbers. I love this place! It’s so laid back and I don’t hear them swear like other barbershops! They also have two tvs going, and a basket of toys for the kids waiting and a bucket of suckers! I look forward to the suckers!

Good hair cut, but the barber was unapproachable. He was a heavy set guy with a goatee and he cut well but didn’t make conversation, and when I asked for a shave (meaning straight razor) he just shave my beard with a regular razor (which I’m going home to fix). Obviously there was a misunderstanding, but part of good customer service is communication and this guy was lacking.

I’ve gone to this place a few times and have never had a bad haircut or bad experience. After going to a few cheaper places including Super Cuts, my hair suffered. This place has always given me the best quality cuts and even fixed what the other places have done to my hair. The barbers are welcoming and there always seems to be conversations going on with regulars. I have never had to wait too long at this place. 15 minutes max if it’s a little busy. If you’re looking for a solid, simple haircut. This is the place.

Wow, this is there Barbee shop you want to make a regular. James, or John, can’t recall the name, but they ask the righr questions. I honestly don’t see anything negative.

Nothing short of amazing here. Pretty old school style place and the guys are always joyful. Chris is the guy I go to!

These guys are great… Been getting hair cut with Jay since the nineties… These guys take there time to do it right will fit you in, in a pinch

I hate to write a positive review because it just means waiting longer for my haircut — longer lines.
If you want a stand out Flat Top haircut John is the man to see. I’ve been to barbers, stylists, Sport clips Ect all over California and VERY few can actually cut a true Flat Top. John can and does every time!
Have had other barbers cut my hair at Rick’s, I think they have five full time chairs, and they do a good job also.

Been going there for years. Chris is the man! Coming through in the clutch. Beard and fade looking smooth. All barbers at ricks do solid work. Keep up the good work!

I go to this place almost every week to get my beard lined up and get my haircut from here as well. There’s always a long line but trust me it’s worth the wait. I get my hair cut by Chris, always takes his time and makes sure he’s doing it right.

As a guy, I don’t really know what to do when I want to change my hairstyle. I came in thinking I would ask what would look good on my head and they would give me some suggestions or have an idea. Unfortunately when I asked, the man told me he had no idea, and I ended up staring at him awkwardly for a while until deciding I would go with what I always get, finger length on top and 3 on the sides. He didn’t even get that right and now the sides are shorter and the top is much longer. Does it look good? Meh, it’s fine, but I look better with shorter hair. I don’t think It’s too much to ask for a professional to give some advice to someone who has no idea about styles and haircuts and stuff. I also wanted a full face shave but they don’t do that, which is strange for a barber but whatever, I don’t fault them there. One extra star because it was fast.

Great service. A classic cut with no fuss. Even my boy’s like coming here and they’re picky kids.

It’s a family owned shop, been a part of Fremont for years. I have had only 4 haircuts here now but I will say, I should have came by earlier. They all take a lot of pride in there work and every haircut I have gotten here has been excellent. Really like and enjoy getting my haircut here. Definetely a throw back barbershop, in a very good way!

Barber shops are a dying breed, esp in Fremont where you have 14 123 123 «hair stylists» that can’t cut a «high and tight» if their lives depended on it.

BTW if you are new and there are chairs open just walk up and ask to get a cut. Don’t sit in the waiting chairs if there are barbers open, as they usually assume that you have a particular barber you are waiting for, and can be slow to ask. They aren’t being rude, just how the place works.
I’ve usually had good luck in this place, I don’t know where people have problems with detail etc.

Fantastic place. A true gem in the city of Fremont. My father, brother, and I have been coming here for as long as I can remember and on every visit we can always expect beyond-​friendly service and a quality haircut. I also love the Native American-​inspired decorations that you see in this barber shop. I respect a man who embraces his roots. Rick is one of the most gold-​hearted men I’ve ever met. He WILL ensure that your hair is cut to your liking. The wait-​time is very bearable, especially on a Wednesday afternoon. Rick’s Sundale Barbershop is the only place I will ever get my hair cut. The prices are very reasonable and after getting your hair cut here, you will want to return for the service and the quality. It’s impeccable.

I came in here at 5:15pm and they close at 6pm. When I got there, I was immediately taken to a chair. The whole place has a 60s black and white film feel with plenty of vintage décor. The chairs were clean and comfortable. The whole team had a cool vibe around them. Steve took his time and didn’t finish with me until 6:10pm. He kept at it until it was perfect, which I appreciated. $ 20 a cut and it was a good experience.

One of, if not the best barber shop in town. I’ve been going to Ricks for a few years now and although I’m not a regular since I take my hair down to the skin most of the time, when I do show up, I’m never disappointed. Usually, I wait for Clayton to fade me up but everyone there is a professional. I’ve had fades by Cutty and Chris as well and never had any issues.
Get there early, lines form fast.

I came in here before and the haircuts are way overpriced for the quality they give. One guy I got a cut from didn’t know how to cut my type of hair and didn’t even trim anything off the top. The ball taper was also not as clean as other shops.
And to talk about the service. I walk in there with nobody in there. And I still didn’t get asked if I needed to get a haircut. So I wait. 20 mins go by and everyone who came in after me got their haircut. So I was fed up and left.
I would not come here again or recommend it to anyone. Lousy customer service!

I go to Rick’s every other week to get a hair cut. Cutty is my barber and he does a great job. Rick and the other guys have a great working relationship and they are all super friendly with everyone who goes there. There is a lot of repeat business which means they are great at what they do.
Rick’s is cash only so swing by the ATM before you get there.

Friendly and great customer service. I went in to get a trim and was not sure exactly what I wanted. I suggested a couple things and John cut my hair on one side to the length I thought I wanted then showed it to me before continuing onto the next side. Luckily he did this cause I wanted it cut shorter.
After cutting my hair and engaging in conversation I was happy with my hair cut.
