As a dancer, this is one of my favorite stores. But the thing that makes it good is that the employees are so helpful. Whether your a beginner in the dance world or an experienced professional, this is the go-to place to get all of your dance needs.

The Dance Shop(NY Dancewear) exceeded my expectations. I desperately needed a leotard for a last minute Halloween costume. I something on their website, but realized that it would take me almost 2 hours on the train to get to the store. However, Doreen assured me that I would receive it in a couple of days via UPS. I was really doubtful that I would get it in time, but I did and the shipping was very reasonable. I will be a repeat customer if I ever need to buy something else!

I’m super lucky to have found this store through Unilocal.I read all the great reviews and its the closest shop near me that sells dance wear so I decided to go and check it out. The lady that helped me out was Doreen. Shes a dance teacher herself and super nice and friendly and I got everything I need for my daughter. Besides experiencing great customer experience they also have everything in the shop. and I mean everything. All types of different dance wear. Most importantly they carried my daughters size. She is tiny and they had her size! Whatever I needed Doreen got it for me to see and also gave me other suggestions too. Love this shop. Love everything about it! Thank you for the wonderful experience.

Fantastic. Whether you are a beginer or a professional this place has what you need. In particular for shoes. With two dance studios within walking distance it is without a doubt placed in a great location as well. New and hoping for some information – they are more then willing to help!

As a newbie salsa dancer I was a bit intimidated trying to go to a dance shop and shopping for dance shoes, but everyone at this store is AMAZING. They work with you to find the RIGHT shoes and it doesn’t matter how many times you change your mind as you’re trying them on. These ladies as FULLOFPATIENCE. The customer service here is unlike anything you’ll ever experience elsewhere. Definitely a MUST for shoes.

Great selection of dance shoes. I like to try shoes on and make sure they are a perfect fit. My favorite brand is BLOCH. If you are going to be practicing the sport of dance its so important to get the perfect shoe. They must fit well on your foot and be comfortable.

Great customer service. I stopped in with my 3.5 yr old to get items for her dance class. They patiently tried different sizes of ballet and tap shoes on her feet when they were jam packed busy. They carry a great selection of quality brands. We’ve gone several times for additional items(bag, sweater, etc) and always top notch service.

As a ballerina back in training and a newbie to my area– I wasn’t sure where to go in Queens to get some gear. Of course Unilocal came to the rescue! I did a search for Queens and this lovely shop came up. I needed the basics since my dog chewed my last leotard, my tights were lost in my move, and my shoes were suddenly too small. Walking in to The Dance Shop was not intimidating at all, and in fact– I got a nice taste of all the sorts of customers they cater to. There were some spiritual dancers trying on dresses, a young boy getting attire for his summer class, and an older woman looking at shoes. This store carries a wide range of leotards, skirts, and shoes for girls and women. I didn’t exactly see any gear for men– but I’m sure they carry it. There’s also some fun dance shirts/pants/shorts and just about any accessory you need. I also appreciated that they had a sales rack and a box of clearance shoes. The service is just perfect– the girls are knowledgeable and not pushy in the least bit. I was being indecisive about the silliest thing– color of course– and the girl who was helping me never once showed any sign that I was the least bit annoying. In fact, she was very pleasant the entire time she helped me! All the other employees were just as awesome too! You could tell everyone really cares about their customers. They also have fitting rooms which I **highly** suggest you make use of. I made the unfortunate decision to have made the last leotard I picked out the only one I didn’t try on. I assumed since I tried on the brand earlier– it would fit. Wrong-O. I had to make a second trip to exchange it– and it was done without a fuss! Two thumbs way up!

Every one I know that is a dancer in the area has been sent to the Dance Shop for their dance class needs. I purchased my first pair of ballet slippers here along with my first pair of pointe shoes and first character shoes, lots of exciting firsts for me here! I was always so happy when it was time to go to the Dance Shop when I was young since I knew I would be coming home with new things for the for the new dance year to show off to my friends. This is definitely a go-to place for your dance needs. They have any style of dance shoe that you can think of along with leotards and apparel, tights, bags, and accesories. They have dressing rooms so you can try on what you are thinking of buying. My favorite part was trying on my new shoes and going to the barre and mirror area they have and trying them out for the first time. Nothing better than a new pair of dance shoes, so many memories are made with them! The area is a little tough to park since it is on a busy main street but you can find parking on side streets nearby. Their prices are average for shoes. If you search online you may be able to find cheaper prices for shoes, but I would not take away the experience of trying them on your own feet. I’m sure many little girls with big dreams have been through these doors and who knows, maybe even some famous dancers!
