Unlike Toni’s stellar experience with 1−800-flowers, mine was ASS and though I know better than to Unilocal while angry, I can’t seem to stop myself. Wednesday was my sister-in-law’s 40th birthday and we ordered her flowers through this site(since Proflowers went way downhill over the past few years.). I liked that I could choose flowers that would be delivered via a local florist as opposed to some generic place somewhere out there. My SIL lives in Bellingham, Washington and though they live in a somewhat rural area(about 8 miles outside of the main city), it is in a large development of houses and should not have been a problem. Well, it was a problem. Her flowers never arrived. I called 1 – 800 to inquire about the delivery as they were supposed to be there. I called around 6pm and was told by a representative that the florist had until 7pm to deliver the flowers. Interesting because according to their website, birthdays and funerals are a priority with deliveries. Anyway, at 7:10, still no flowers so I called again. After waiting on hold for quite some time, I got through to another rep and was advised that shortly after my first call(6pm) the local florist let them know that their delivery truck had mechanical problems and since it was a rural area, they had to wait 3 hours for a tow truck and that sadly 3 orders did not make it to their destination and one of those orders was my SIL’s. You would think that 1 – 800 would have contacted me immediately but no. I felt like an asshole all excited for my SIL to get this beautiful arrangement of flowers along with a birthday balloon. The rep then asked if I wanted the order to be delivered tomorrow by the same florist. My response was-«how do we know their delivery truck will work»? She wouldn’t give me the name of the florist so I couldn’t in my right thinking call a local florist without thinking it could be the same company that fucked up my order in the first place. I told her to cancel my order all together and promptly sent an email to my SIL apologizing profusely for the delivery failure. I also started writing a 1 star review for this site-until I got a call from«David» a «supervisor» from 1 – 800 Flowers. David apologized profusely, and while I could tell he was very nervous dealing with a customer like me(assertive, verbal), he said he could guarantee delivery the next day and offered up a discount. I had told him I was more prone to scrap the order all together and send my SIL an E-certificate through Amazon instead but again, he assured me the flowers would get to my SIL. I am happy to say my SIL received her flowers a day late, but she was thrilled beyond belief at what was ordered for her. Instead of the one star review this service was going to receive from me, I am upping it to a 3 star review though still with hesitation. I have to see how my credit card will be charged or credited. I think my best bet for the future, I will just go back to the old days of using Google to find a local floral shop(or Unilocal) in the area where I want to send flowers to and stop using these«easy» services since I keep seeming to get disappointed.

Today is my brother’s 65th birthday and I wanted to send him flowers. When I was in the hospital last year following my knee surgery a friend sent me a completely stunning bouquet of apricot colored roses from . I had been using but had been receiving increasingly disappointed feedback from the recipients, particularly of tulips. I wanted something more special for Jim, so I went to 1−800-flowers this time. Rather than sending the flowers and vases from their own stock they contract w/local florists. You choose the arrangement and the shape of the vase and the florist puts it together. Jim just called me and was delighted w/the arrangement. I certainly will use them again, not instead of local florists, but when sending flowers to someone who’s far away. Though the address on this review says Fresno, I made my arrangements online, but couldn’t post a review w/o a city, so I put Fresno, which is where their closest brick and mortar store is.
