2039 Ultra Lounge

Yeah, this place sucks. It’s a pretty ghetto crowd. I’ve never seen anything crazy go down here, which admittedly shocks the hell out of me. I like the lounge area in front, and the sheer size of the building, but boring people, lifeless bartenders, crappy DJ’s, and average décor. Oh, and the last time I went, they were advertising some kind of bikini contest and drink specials. I went to the bar 3 separate times asking when the drink specials started, and all he said was «when the show starts.» 1 AM rolled by, nothing. My friend and I went to pick up our own damn alcohol at the liquor store before they closed.
And THE BIGGEST reason this place gets a pathetic 1 star– Mr. 7 ft. tall neo-​nazi sasquatch motherfucker who’s most definitely compensating for something is the doorman. The same abusive prick who pulled a taser on me at Thaiphoon for trying to get my friends and leave (see my review on Thaiphoon for more on that) is now employed by this fine establishment. Good luck staying open, 2039.

So first of all me and my friend had heard about this «ULTRA LOUNGE» and that it was the hip new place to go in Fresno.haha. anywho we decided one night to be brave and go check it out. we go by and at first i wasnt sure if we were at the right place… no line no sign nothing and I think it used to be that sports bar called Buns but I cant be sure. There were 2 guys standing on the corner and the bouncers that was it. We really didnt wanna go in but we checked it out. Music wasnt working the place was alright inside, drinks were ok but it really wasnt working for me I didnt enjoy it, Fresno’s nightlife is nothing spectacular so i wasnt expecting much but if you call yourself ULTRA at least try to live up to the name.

You know a city is blah when the best part of your visit was going to Target *nudging sister* ha. Sis and I were dragged to Fresno this past weekend for a family BBQ, which sounds like it’d make for a chill weekend. However, it was 100+ degrees out and we are creatures of the fog.
Long story short, we were curious about Fresno’s nightlife. Perhaps the drab scene cracks at night. Well, to quote Eliud, «It be aiight.»
There was a line to get in this place, and people driving by yelled out «2039 sucks!» on more than one occasion. There was a $ 10 cover and the security guards take their job waaaay too seriously. Dress code is stupid strict, yet they don’t check for weapons. How do I know this? While my guy cousin R was sittin at the booth watchin our drinks, the guy next to him showed him his gun and told him he was with AB (an Asian gang) and that some shit was bout to pop off with his boys after the club.
Music was your standard top 40. Guys were annoyingly persistent to dance. No means no!!! Oh and I got beer spilled on my hair when someone sat down on the booth too hard. The entire booth shook, knocking down a beer bottle that was sitting right over my head.
One positive thing I can say is that it only cost $ 21 for four cocktails! Other than that, the 2 stars says it all: «Meh, I’ve experienced better.»

So my first time there and it wasn’t so excited compared to all the «great» word of mouth from people I knew. *shruggs*
Cover charge wasn’t bad, typical.
2 bars, big dance floor, lots of lounging area which was pretty cool. The inside of this place looks alot better than most of the clubs in Fresno. The last half hour before chasing everyone out, the DJ was playing some real old school mix that wasn’t all that fun to dance to, however, for the sake of my ladies, I had the best time I could.
Maybe it’s just my 1^st time there. I need to go there again to see how I like it, but I’ll keep it to a 3 star rating for now, although I know I shouldn’t rate a place I’ve been to only once. Or perhaps it’s just clubbing in Fresno!!! I’ll give 2039 another chance, but can’t say exactly when. Until then, everyone should go check out the place on their own and not base it on my review because like I said earlier, I’ve had almost everyone I know, go to 2039 and told me it was «the shit»…

Soo I went there again. BLAH! it sucks bo0oty. The DJ was not good at all…(minus a star for them!) I suppose I’ll never really enjoy the nightlife in Fresno as I did when I was younger…
