Amazing. The service is great. The waiters are nice. The food is off the chain. Always seems to be packed. But I can’t complain. It’s that good. It’s the perfect blend of Mexican and traditional breakfast. I can always count on Als to stuff my belly. Yummoooo

Good portions with good food to boot. I have had about half of the menu from lunch and breakfast. Both are really good. Price is about average but the large portions are not. Great friendly servers. Location is not the greatest and there is always someone walking by with a shopping cart full of junk. Don’t sit by the windows if this will upset you.

Who need’s monotony for breakfast or lunch, when you and I can have best of both world. Al’s Café allows my taste buds to savor not only a wide variety American classics — think pancakes, waffles and etc, but also south of the border cuisine(Mexican) — Mechaca, Huevos Rancheros Temales, Tacos and etc. Its worth noting that both their American and Mexican selection is delicious, unpretentious, inexpensive, and abundantly portioned. Sure its located in the dusty edge of Fresno, near CA-99 and olive, but this unassuming building was once an old Wendy’s establishment that is now converted to this quaint breakfast and lunch house called Al’s Café. Its a perfect stopover for those traveling on CA-99 and in dire need of breakfast or lunch, and its definitely a «must-try» breakfast/lunch place for those adventures foodies in Fresno. Al’s café defies the norm of overcooked eggs, generic pancakes and overpriced coffee, and serves up flavorful food that captivates and awakens one’s senses; even the hot chocolate is refillable at a moderate prices of $ 2.10. Al’s is possibly unsuccessful at making an award winning breakfast, but it certainly would leave an impression that is everlasting, a sate appetite and keeps my wallet from loosing weight. My personal favorite was the three egg chili verde omelette $ 10.50. The egg itself was perfectly texture, moist yet firm, while perfectly wrapping the scrumptious and generous serving of chili verde filling(red). The meat was excellently flavored– a tangy red sauce, with a mild heat, coupled with a light natural sweet and savory taste from fresh chili blended with tomatoes, with a hint of saltiness. The dish is served with Mexican rice and refried beans. This entire dish was definitely wholesome, and delivered a boost of protein and carbohydrate for a busy morning. Worth mentioning was also the 2 stack pancakes and 2 eggs $ 6.25. The eggs over medium, was perfectly cooked, a thin opaque film of white covered the yellow, and as soon as the sharp edge knife pierced the membrane of the egg, succulent yellow ooze leaked and complimented the homemade taste of the pancake. The unique feature and taste of the pancake, includes the rare home-styled taste which is normally present when one was to make pancake at home(moist, moderately chewy, soft, and fluffy) and the immense size of each pancake. I do also appreciate the details this restaurant subscribes to. Including the small metal canister(look like an oiling can) that it uses for milk for the coffee, and pancake syrup. Its very old fashioned and traditional of them. My only complaint is the use of styrofoam for the hot chocolate, I would have preferred a glass mug for, on the flip side– the hot chocolate is refillable. Service was friendly and genuine, parking was plentiful in its private lot. A «must-try» when in Fresno for breakfast, especially if one is traveling on CA-99. Its a great place to come especially for a family that wants both american and Mexican choice’s for breakfast in one place.

I got the chili verde burrito which was not very good, too much meat(taste okay) with a little bit plastic. The plastic string was mixed with the chicken, I found it when I was actually chewing my food. Yuck. I’m guessing it’s what they use to wrap around the chicken? So we went up to the cashier tell her about the plastic we found in our food. They said for the past couple days, some other customers have been complaining about the same thing too. So apparently their cook or whoever is it is not very careful about their food. She apologized(not her fault), but we still got charged full price for that tho. Other than that everything else was okay, service was okay, store is nice and clean. But we won’t go back there again. Oh and the lemon in the water was not fresh looking or you could say dirty!

I love this place. My favorite breakfast, fluffy oversized pancakes, bacon and eggs. My wife loves the large three egg omlets. I don’t think we have had lunch here because we get stuffed with great food at breakfast. Put Al’ Café on your short list. They draw a crowd so get there early.

Every bite of food was delicious! This is a loud, crowded biker bar sort of place and it is utterly awesome. I don’t care what your background or likes, you will find something to love here. I HIGHLY recommend this place. So good. Enjoy:)

The portions here are enormous! I recommend visiting here on a empty stomach bcuz they give you a lot of food, I ordered the Carne Asada Nachos with everything on them I shared them with my daughter, my wife had a omelette that was huge, my son had pancakes with ham, everyone enjoyed they meal and it didn’t take long to arrive at our table Our server was nice she checked on us a few times to make sure we were OK and refilled our drinks, I believe they close at 3pm it’s 2:17pm right now so ima cut this review short and go get me some Al’s before they close lol

It’s Saturday morning. You feel like having an enormous breakfast, so you can a) sleep it off the rest of the day, b) take half of it home for dinner, c) share it with a friend, or d) just sit there and stare at it, wondering what the hell you were thinking. The answer is Al’s Café. I’m sure the omelette and burgers are great. But lots of places have those. I go for the chile verde and eggs. Or the wet burrito. Ask for their salsa, the hot one. Apply. Consume. Take the rest of the chile verde home. Thank me later. :) Only reason it’s not 5 starts is that the tortillas aren’t homemade. But I guess you could stop at El Cochinito on the way…

This place is a staple when it comes to breakfast. I always order the Al’s Meat Lover’s omelette and there is definitely no skimping on the meat on this order. It always comes out fresh and hot(sometimes too hot to eat) and the salsa, well the salsa hands down reminds me of grandma’s homemade salsa — fresh and flavorful especially when it’s over the omelette. My grandma seems to enjoy their menudo(tripe soup) and from what I remember, it was clean, non smelly and full of flavor. They also honored her request for a «pata», Overall great experience. Lunch is amazing as well with their patty melts and fries.

If it would not have been for a bad experience at Al’s Café I would have never found a great place. I drove and extra 10 minutes and found McCoys in Selma. I will never return to Al’s Café.

When in Fresno this is a must stop for breakfast! I had a good customer take me here for breakfast, well technically I took him here since I picked up the tab but that’s splitting hairs. Funny though because I found it on my Unilocal app and he chose it because it’s his local go-to awesome breakfast place. The service was perfect, friendly and open, made me feel like I had been here many times before. I asked the waitress to bring me the best thing that they made fresh and she actually brought me a couple of things! There was this pork dish, very authentic Mexican and it was amazing. Had some eggs mixed in with it and the flavors exploded in my mouth, like a little mariachi band playing me a morning song! The coffee was good, food was perfect and the people friendly… this is my new neighborhood place for the next time I am back in town. Screw the free breakfast at the Hampton, I am going here. KT
