Friendly service! Actually had a good conversation of the owner of the place. A sweet older Mexican women who’s been doing this for years. I had to ask where they bought there meat because it was so tender and juicy and cooked to perfection! A jewel in Fresno’s down town area! I recommend the chile verde or a steak dish.

Great service and quick but not too suspiciously quick like other mexican restaurants. Good mexican essentials beans, rice, taco, enchilada etc. However do not recommend the fish. It was not at all fresh tasting. Stick to basic items.

Excellent breakfast joint! Friendly service, Huevos Rancheros soooo good. Wish they had home made tortillas, but the ones they had were good.

Still the best Mexican food in Fresno. I love the Chile Colorado. It is one of the best I ever had. I have it everytime now. We go at least once a week. The plates always come out bubbling. My wife had the enchilada plate. She said it was the best she ever had. Everything is made freshly.

Went to Cuca’s today for lunch. Awesome food! I ordered Steve’s Special; Hard shell taco, Enchilada and Burrito. I opted for Shredded Beef in the Taco and Enchilada and Chile Colorado in the Burrito. All were very good, especially the Chile Colorado in the Burrito. I asked for a taste of the Menudo, and she gave me a generous taste. It’s great. 7 day Menudo restaurant downtown… can’t be bad. Great mexican food that tastes like your friend’s mom made it. These people really care. We have a new favorite Mexican restaurant. We will be back!

Breakfast plate hit the spot: ranchera omelette with potatoes and beans, perfectly scorched flour tortillas on the side, savory salsa verde. The coffee is decent too. I’ll have to stop by for lunch sometime.

It’s 50/.50 I don’t really like the food but it’s homemade sort of and the lady cooking is a sweetheart. So I do eat here every so often when I wake up and want breakfast because American breakfast is a bust.(Don’t get me started on Train Depot). It’s a really small establishment in bleak Chinatown. I recommend at least one check-in here and you be the judge because like I mentioned before it’s 50⁄50.

We used to eat here often at he tower location when we lived in fresno and it was great. Went for lunch today and the food was terrible, we sat by the window and were taken over by flies… so much that my three year old kept asking my husband to kill them… and in 105 degree weather they didnt even have the freakin air on! Felt like a swamp cooler was on… Very disappointing… i asked the waitress what the most popular dish was, and she said fajitas, fish tacos, or mojo de ajo plate… i ordered the beef fajitas. biggest mistake ever. the pieces of steak were either WAY over cooked or RE-COOKED the meat was so tough and definately not fresh… i am mexican and love mexican food but my plate was terrible. i will NEVER go there again. Im not sure if it is under new ownership but its very unfortunate. and when we were leaving! It was starting to get busy! Poor hungry people. big disappoinment ahead.

Both of these restaurants are fabulous. The one in the tower is a little more expensive, but I’m sure it is because of the rent. For this reason, I like the one in Chinatown better. You have to try the deep fried pork chop! They actually take the pork chop and place it in the fryer. So not healthy but the flavor is incredibly delicious. I must admit: I allow this type of evil into my body once a year. I only wish I could do it more often. 5 stars for both.

Chinatown has become so sad. The only businesses left down there are pretty much the restaurants, and they are good ones. More of us need to take our restaurant $$ to Chinatown, and perhaps the whole area could some day make a come back. Cuca’s is old time Fresno. Very genuine with no pretentious air about it. The Ladies Who Lunch convened here, and we got good solid food, good service, in a very small diner setting. There are a few booths and the counter seating. Tostadas are excellent.

I love this place! We usually visit at least once a week. Nothing fancy but soooo tasty! I always get a ground beef taco and chile verde enchilada just like grandmas :) Service is always friendly and prompt. Great place!

Lunch Review Ordered taco and enchilada plate which had rice and beans. Food was all very good. Friendly service. Good prices. Location is hole in the wall which is fine by me because it normally means good food. salsa was great and flavorful. *UPDATE* try the chile verde… its delicious!

This place is straight out of the 70’s! I loved it… the crazy wallpaper, the old school paintings and photos. This is a nice local joint where the women running the place chat with patrons, the atmosphere is very laid back, and Latin American music is plays in the background. We ordered the breakfast burritos that were stuffed with egg, potatoes, and bacon. They were served with a great green spicy salsa. It was warm, filling, and comforting. I felt like I was in my long lost Mexican grandmother’s kitchen… and my family is from Eastern Europe! I wish we had time to sample other menu items, but this was a very delicious and affordable meal with good portions and friendly service.

Awesome chilaqueles and migas plates. And great mimosas. Went for brunch and loved it. I hear breakfast/brunch items are where it’s at for this place. The waitress admitted she’d had too much of her mimosa earlier in the day– it was so cute. But the service was still great– buzzed waitress or not. I’m an ex-texan, so being able to get my migas fix right in the tower makes me very, very happy.

I’ve been to both locations, and this one is more authentic than the other. So, for the white folks… I’d recommend the Tower location. But for those of you looking for that good«hole in the wall» Mexican food, this is the place. The owner is the cook, and she is sweet as can be. Always makes times to turn around and greet her customers or stop by at a table to chit chat and get to know her clients. The salt comment below, along with the blah blah bland comment contradict each other. Everyone’s entitled to their opinion, but if you ask me… I’d go back again for lunch. Only bummer, they close at 2pm. So get there before then!

Probably the best mexican food i’ve ever had, hands down. ive gotten the chili verde burrito and the regular pork burrito. It’s a little hole-in-the-wall spot but they have an excellent menu and really speedy service. The staff is really friendly. i got there once like 5 minutes before they closed and they served me like usual and didn’t have any attitude or showed any irritation at all. They just made the food and served me with a smile =) My only complaint is that they close every day at 2 pm, which is really odd. It makes it difficult to get there on time for lunch if you want to dine in and you definitely can’t go there to eat for dinner because they’ll be closed. I went today(Sunday) at 1:40 pm and they were closed already, even though the card i took from there said everyday at 2.

This location makes much better food then the Tower one. they make the best breakfast. I love getting chicharones and eggs for breakfast. Don’t be scared to try it.

Boy, did I want to like this place more. I had the James Burrito, which claims to be a chicken burrito of some sort, but really it’s just a SALTBURRITO. Ten minutes after leaving I felt like my BP was 300⁄210. It simply makes no sense to salt food that much… UNLESS your food sucks and you have no idea how to season food and combine ingredients to begin with. I honestly can’t remember having a worse burrito than this, ever.

This place is pretty charming. It’s been around since the 70’s. They have the original wood panneling, a flocked damask wall paper, and old vynl seats in the booths and counter. They have their regulars and its a pretty popular local spot. My uncle was all excited in telling us about it, and they even have a new spot in Fresno. As for the food, well… My uncle is crazy, most of the older generation of the family is. The food was blah blah bland. Beans tasted burnt, rice was fine, the chilequiles were lack luster. sorry folks. You all seem like really sweet girls, but mmm… it just wasn’t doing for me, sorry.
