Blackstone location. Im addicted after my first visit. Everyone around me were enjoying the food as much as I was… it was soooooo delicious!!!

Had a breakfast at Don Pepe today. I am visiting in Fresno andy host offered to eat here. I have had easy over eggs and a taco, and while the eggs were nothing special, the beef tacos were nothing less than superb!

Don Pepe… eres mi droga, estoy enganchando!!! Needing a break from my usual spots, and wanting to save a few bucks, I searched up ‘Tacos’ on my trusty Unilocal App and Don Pepe pops up along with a few other righteous competitors. After skimming thru reviews/pic I decided to give this place a shot(although at their Blackstone location). When I arrived, the place was extremely packed in their already cramped quarters… people were crammed in there and you couldn’t even stir them with a stick. Needless to say, I walked in and then right back out. Not one to be easily deterred, I searched up their other locations in the hope that they wouldn’t be as ‘busy.’ I came across this one and set out craving some tacos. Let me tell you this location is newer, and a lot nicer than the Blackstone location, but it is just as busy. One thing that I didn’t care for was that the line to order was right as you walked in, and the menu was above the cashiers head down at the other end… so if you are coming here have an idea of what you want when you walk in. The seating is a mixture of booth/table combos as well as high tops. There is a couple of tables outside. It is best if you come here with someone that you have them snatch a table while you are ordering because seating fills up fast. They have multiple items on their menu ranging from tacos(asada, pollo, lengua pescado, camarones etc), tortas, nachos, burritos, enchiladas, sopes and so much more. I was really wanting some tacos, so I went with their house taco w/carne asada. I noticed that they have a ‘salsa bar’ where you add your own toppings to your taco. The salsa bar has about 3 different types of salsa ranging in heat levels, onions, cilantro, jalapenos etc. I noticed that they didn’t have any cabbage, so I asked the counter employee if they could add it for me and they did. Their tacos come standard with your choice of meat, as well as pinto beans. The carne asada tacos are absolutely delicioso!!! Dare I say that they are even better than my favorite restaurants version(Hacienda Tequila). The meat is seasoned just right and it really tender. It has the same flavor as the asada at Hacienda, seriously. They did not skimp on meat either, and the beans inside were a nice compliment as well as my added cabbage. I ordered 2 tacos and got full after eating just 1. One thing I wished they would have is an option to make your tacos a combo. Its not too bad though, 2 tacos an order of chips and guac as well as a soda cost less than $ 10. Got an order of the Chicken Taquitos and they came as a combo plate w/refried beans and rice. Next time I may request whole beans, the refried just weren’t anything special and seemed too watery. There was little meat rolled into the actual taquito, but then they had a lot of nice chunks on top. The rice was good, nice and fluffy. They offer chips and guacamole as an appetizer, for a really affordable price($ 2 and change). The guacamole is mixed with their pico de gallo. The chips seemed fresh, nice and crisp and were seasoned with some sal con limon. I enjoyed my food so much that I came back within the same week. I couldn’t get those tacos off of my mind. The action in here was non-stop, people pouring in thru the door and the workers were really great to keep up with everything in a timely manner. The employees here are constantly on the move, you wont see any slackers here. Constantly running orders out from the kitchen, stopping to help you with anything you need with a smile. The restaurant itself, dining room, outside eating area and restrooms were clean. You can also watch the cooks make your food from just about every angle in this place and its kind of fun to watch. Great place and I def recommend coming here if you are craving Mexican food that tastes great, great service and great prices!!!

I’ve eaten here about three times. Haven’t been disappointed yet. Good friendly service, good food. Love the sopes and they have a salsa bar that you can help yourself to. Nice place to go for lunch they are usually busy but good about getting your food to you in a timely manner!

All solid, solid food. It was fast and cheap and tasted great. Really all I could need in a low key taco place. They also have a mini salsa bar too. TBH, the decoration and look of the place leave much to be desired, but there was so need for anything cause the food spoke volumes. Food came out promptly and staff was friendly. Probably wouldn’t have gone here unless a friend brought me here based on the exterior. Glad I had a local show me the place though.

Great food! Probably the best fast food Mexican place I’ve been to in Fresno. Great fish/shrimp tacos. Shrimp/Chicken burritos are wonderful. Shrimp cocktail is fantastic. Definitely don’t go there until 30 minutes after they open… I’ve gotten stuck standing there twiddling my thumbs multiple times while they are prepping for the day.

Eh. I’ve been to places with the same prices and they’ve served WAY more food. Their enchiladas were okay, but the chicken honestly tasted weird. And they don’t have shredded beef? Weird. Don’t think I’ll be coming back again

AMAZING Shrimp Botana and Shrimp tacos. Very cafeteria cuisine but food more than compensates. Foods a bit pricey but getting what you pay for.

I’m strange and only order loaded non-meat«super burritos»(Rice, beans, cheese, salsa, lettuce, sour cream, guacamole) at every taqueria I go to. You’d think they would all taste the same… simply not true. This version… Unreal! Texture was there with every bite, proportionate, and the overall size you’d hope for. Nailed it! Nice job! I’ll be back.

Hopefully the new owner instructs his or her employees on the difference between a fish and a shrimp taco. This is 2 of the last 3 visits where I got back to work to realize I didn’t get what I ordered and what I did get I tossed because I didn’t enjoy it However to be fair, the prior visits to the last few the food had always been excellent and the staff is always friendly. Ignoring my recent experiences, this is the best taco joint in town.

The restaurant is pretty small but I love the shrimp and tripas tacos here. They grill the meat to crispy perfection and I love that! Their tacos are medium sized… Not the taco truck size tacos. The service is fast and everything else(condiments, drinks, napkins) is self-serve. It would so much nicer if they serve iced tea and/or lemonade instead of just soda. My favorite express Mexican food restaurant so far though!

Didn’t expect much when we saw the location after Unilocaling, but we went it with, and ordered beef and shrimp tacos, and a shrimp tostado. Wow. The **best** taco I’ve had in my life! Spicy shrimp tacos are the way to go here. Doesn’t seem to be much to gape at in the town as we wait on our train, but lunch definitely made it all. Awesome. Just awesome.

Its mind boggling seeing everyone in Fresno going to ‘Chipotle’ — the pretentious Mexican grill when they have a real good taqueria such as Don Pepe just down the street in their city. Hands down the #1 Taqueria in Fresno and cannot be missed. Its a locally owned and operated taqueria with 3 locations, this is one of their locations and the food is just as good as their other two locations. The signature dish is the $ 3.93 fish tacos and the $ 3.93 shrimp tacos, its a must order item when coming to Don Pepe taqueria. They also offer super burritos, super quesadillas, tacos, combination plates, sopes, torta and so much more. Their prices is really affordable and their seafood selection is always fresh. When people talk about the best fish taco’s, you would assume the talk is on a debate of republican vs democrat believes because its usually heated, opinions are strong and tempered flared. The argument of what makes the best fish tacos will never end. For me the best fish tacos is here at Don Pepe, because the white fish fillet is grilled to perfection with a spicy hot sauce, it is then served on a bed of finely sliced cabbage placed atop 2 homemade warmed corn tortillas, nicely tucked like a baby in a white paper, and drizzled with fresh diced tomatoes and sliced lime green avocados, and finally dolloped with a sour cream sauce. The taste is a burst of fresh spicy grilled fish coupled with the hot sauce and creaminess from the avocado and sour cream, with a hint of crunch from the cabbage, it comes together so nicely in my mouth. The Shrimp tacos is a generous serving of spicy grilled jumbo shrimp wrapped around 2 tortillas, sleeping on a bed of of rice, guacamole and drizzled with grated Mexican cheese. The taste is a burst of spicy, creamy flavor, coupled with the fresh taste of the perfectly grilled shrimp. Finally even basic taco is seriously made here. I ordered the lengua(tongue) taco $ 2.77. which was smothered with the tenderly cooked tongue meat, atop 2 tacos and a bed of rice, and deliciously finished with tender whole white beans. The taste was just a food-gasm. I honestly feel the tongue was perfectly made here. The tongue taste however is maybe not for everyone. The seating is very basic, nothing to brag about, but its pleasantly clean and the service is fast even during the busy hour. Cash and card is accepted and there are plenty of parking located in the private lot. I do like the system here– order at the counter and it will be sent to the table, since there is no table service, its means no tip ! So next time you fancy real mexican food, avoid chipotle and come here instead, the food is seriously good.

Every time I come to Don Pepe, the food is delicious and seems fresh. Overall, their shrimp dishes are the best items on the menu. The shrimp cocktail is the best I’ve had from anywhere, it’s flavored perfectly. I also love their super quesadillas and the spicy shrimp tacos. The quesadillas are gigantic, and stuffed with fresh tasting ingredients. The only complaint I have is, the last time I went, the Spanish rice wasn’t as good as usual, some grains of the rice were crunchy. Ew. Overall, everything I’ve had here has been good though. I’d recommend it. Both locations are great. This location on Ingram is newer and larger. I like it best

I usually get the shrimp tostada($ 5.75 as pictured below). The shell is fully loaded with slices of tomatoes, sour cream, avocado, cabbage, onions, cilantro and at least 6 shrimp, sliced thinly in half. They definitely don’t skimp on the shrimp here. The shrimp is always perfectly cooked, boiled I think, and served cold. It comes with a lime wedge to squeeze on top. Sometimes I’ll get a chicken tostada instead, and that is equally as good if you don’t want shrimp. The chicken is well-seasoned, tender and cooked perfectly. That one comes with Mexican cheese instead of the sour cream. I have also ordered the Shrimp Botana(spicy) and that was really good. It wasn’t that spicy either, but very flavorful and a must try if you’re a seafood or shrimp lover. They have a good salsa bar too with at least 3 kinds of salsas, cilantro, onions, and limes. They offer fast service and you can dine in or take out. When dining in, they’ll bring the food to you and if you take out, just wait near the counter for pick up.

I didn’t expect much from this place only because I assumed it would be another version of Robertitos, very mediocre. But the shrimp tacos blew me away lol. I ordered 2 tacos with beans and rice on the side. I didn’t even get to touch my beans and rice since the tacos were so fulfilling. The flavors were just right. Either that or I was just starvin like marvin, who knows? Service wasn’t bad, it’s kind of cool to have someone bring you your order. I won’t be one to complain. All of their sauces and toppings were self-serve, I liked that too. They offer more than the typical, red or green hot sauce. Yes! Anyways, I will be back for their shrimp cocktail that’s for sure.

I am so glad that Done Pepe opened this location and most importantly didn’t lose its quality of food. My office is located right behind Sam’s Club, so it makes eating this terrific food a lot easier. I also love the location on Gettysburg but sometime the sitting accommodation is horrible. This location doesn’t have the problem. I normally always get two spicy shrimp tacos and one taco de Al Pastor. Today I wanted to try something different. I ordered the 4 Rolled Taquitos with rice and been plate(Picture posted) Ugh, it was bomb! The shredded beef was moist and freshly made. As you can see from the picture it was topped with onion, tomatoes, sour cream, queso mexicano, and slices of avocado. The food portion was plenty and I would definitely order it again. By far, everything on the menu is worth trying and delicious. When not on the clock I definitely always get me a Michelada, or two. Mmm, the best in Fresno! Servers are very fast and friendly; as soon as you’re done eating they come around and gather your plates. A+ service! In Closing, I love this place and will continue ruining my diet with it’s authentic Mexican food!

This is a great place if you’re seeking hole-in-the-wall type Mexican food in Fresno. Though it’s considered a local chain because it has a few locations in the area, this one was described as being the best by the locals(and Unilocal!) The small place is located in a huge parking lot that was probably jam packed with big box retailers back in the day, but it seems as if this business is the only one that survived. Being about 7pm on a Wednesday night, the place was packed with people enjoying food or waiting for orders for take out. We of course wanted the full experience, so we dined in and enjoyed the ambiance. For food: — Super Burrito: We got this wet with red sauce and filled with chicken. It was a massive portion and ample enough to feed two people. There was plenty of chunks of the meat, but it was a little on the dry side for my liking. I still enjoyed it, but it wasn’t my favorite out of the things we ordered. — Super Nachos: This was a plate of tortilla chips, melted cheese and your choice of meat. We ended up with the carne asada and I think that was a good choice. I was glad that we were splitting it. We bumped up the spice level courtesy of Tapatio, but they also have a salsa bar available with options of different temperatures of your choosing. — Shrimp Taco: They didn’t skimp on the shrimp as this sucker was loaded. Be warned, it’s on the spicier side, so make sure you have a beer or a Jarritos on hand to save your tongue some pain if you’re not used the heat. I’d definitely recommend it if you’re into seafood tacos. We ordered beers to go with our meals and the came not only garnished with salt and hot sauce, they had both a lime and a piece of shrimp stuck inside the bottle. Clever. I’ll be back, but I heard the location by Fresno state has California burritos!!!
