I can’t not say enough about El Premio Mayor street tacos! The salsa is to die for, and the meat tastes like it’s been marinated for a week. I visit their restaurant on McKinley at least once a month, and always vote for them at the Fresno Grizzlies Taco Truck Throwdown. Hated to see that Adrian, the face of El Premio, passed away. He was really one of the special ones… there will never be another Adrian.

There’s a reason why they won that taco throw down at Grizzlies stadium. For me, the McKinley location has been the best. It may look sketchy, but when you drive up to the parking area, it’s hard to believe that the best taco sits right there, between a liquor store and a semi-run down had car wash. Yes, the neighborhood is sketchy, but don’t pass on it, you’ll regret it. The menu is full of options, but I personally prefer the asada tacos and the asada quesadilla. The meat is well seasoned and the tortillas are a perfect size. Ask for the salsa on the side if you’re not comfortable with trying it and possibly ruining your meal. The grilled seasoned onions on the side are also a delicious addition to the your tacos. This is a once a week place for us, at the least. They have so many options that you will want to come back and possibly make it a regular spot.

Hole in the wall yes but the food is good! The place is clean and the staff friendly order took a bit but it was super busy and made fresh. Had the nachos and rest of the fam tacos. I got the super nachos with meat cheese ect. they were filling. And I had a bite of taco it was good. Only down side is the area is not the best and the parking stinks. Park on the street if ya can so ya don’t get taped if it get busy.

I can’t say they are the best tacos because I have tried better, but they are pretty delicious. Perfect spot for a late night craving. This place will not dissapoint and is definitely better than the taco trucks around Fresno. They also are very clean and their service is fast and friendly.

I will not be coming back to this place. I’m usually excited whenever I visit little hole in the walls, or off the beaten path treasures but believe me, this one south of shaw is not worth it. Their $ 5 bag of tortillas are not worth it. The tacos were ok. The establishment itself was crumbling to pieces. Tables were dirty, trash bins were dirty, it was a mess. They forgot my sons order of nachos and when they brought it to us we told them we didn’t order it with jalepenos. The guy apologized then brought the same nachos back but with no jalepenos but he had cheese all over his hands!!! Gross! Really! I mean come on how much could a bunch of chips and cheese cost? U can see for yourself the pictures on my profile what the guy left for us. They charged us $ 3.50 for that! No people never again!!!

Ok don’t let the location scare you away from this place. The food is so good and best in town by far. Better then most taco trucks I’ve eaten at. From the tacos to the hot dogs everything I’ve tried here has been great! Use to come here every chance I got when I was pregnant.

When hungry late at night and my stomach grumbles like a monster for appetizing Mexican food, I could either resort to the local taco bell(not sure if I could even characterize that as Mexican), the local 24 hour Robertitos, or I could go to this repugnant looking taqueria with surprisingly great Mexican food at really low prices. Sure the exterior and interior realistically would recoil people, in spite of its«ghetto» look, there is actually a line at 11pm, and that is because the food here is smashing, especially at the eleventh hour when everything else in Fresno is pretty much closed and mouthwatering gastronomic adventures cease to exist. Out of the two things I had here(chicken enchiladas $ 7.99 and 2 Tacos $ 1.99), I find it hard to pick a favorite, because both of the things I ordered«to-go’ was delicious. The enchiladas, a Mexican version of the lasagna is really good here. Its a generous serving of tender chicken meat and melted cheese enclosed within a corn tortillas and then lusciously covered with a mouthwatering spicy red sauce. The first bite of this gooey, rich concoction made the church bells rang, it was absolutely fantastic, sure I have tasted better enchiladas in my lifetime, but this enchilada doesn’t pale in its scrumptious factor. The rice was perfectly fluffy and flavorsome. While the beans was perfectly fresh and nicely mashed up, not too coarse yet not too smooth, just right. While the lengua(tongue) and asada(beef) tacos was simply affordable and tasty. Both was wrapped in between 2 corn tortillas, slapped with a generous serving of meat, and then smothered with the perfect delicious red salsa sauce, finished off beautifully with fresh chopped cilantro. The taste was gastronomic, a perfect blend of savory, salty, sweet and spicy in one bite. It definitely evoke my senses this late at night. There is quite plenty of parking at this location and they open late daily perfect place for late night grub, and although this place is located in a ghetto part of town, I do find this place safe since they have an armed guard right outside to assure safety and peace. Although the interior would seem to have failed the health checks, this place prepares its food in the most sanitary manner. Its also a convenience that this place accepts cash and credit/debit card payments. They do have interior seating and their service is friendly, I however prefer a quick takeout.

Good, no-nonsense Mexican food cooked right in front of you. Neighborhood is not the best, but it was fine overall. We had tacos, and they were just what we were expecting. Nothing spectacular, but better than most other places. Would likely stop by again if in town and wanting a quick Mexican fix!

First of all, I might come off as a phở guy as I’ve been on an Asian food kick as of late, so don’t get me wrong, before I was hunting down phở spots, I was hunting down taco spots all over Fresno. I’ve tried nearly all of the best ones and that includes some of the most hole-in-the-wall places in some of the worst parts of Fresno. I’m not intimidated by any restaurant and a lot of times I’m the only white, English speaking person when I get tacos. So keep that in mind when I write this review. Some of the best tacos in Fresno are served here. The carne asada was tender, grilled perfectly, with almost no detectable fat, and seasoned exactly how I’ve come to expect the best carne asada to be seasoned. Needless to say, they were so good I almost inhaled four tacos in less than 2 minutes. The carne asada tacos I ordered were $ 1.50 each, which is comparable in price to a majority of similar taco spots. They came topped with cabbage, cilantro, and salsa. A pile of grilled onions, a large grilled jalapeño pepper, two large lemon slices, and about 5 slices of beet were provided on the side. The service was friendly and fast. I came during my lunch hour and barely beat the rush. Therefore, I can’t speak on service time when this place gets busy. This little jewel of a taco joint is nestled between a Hand Carwash to the left and McKinley Market(a liquor store) to the right. It’s a hole in the wall place, the exact kind of place I’ve become accustomed to finding great food, and there’s no exception here. Inside, there are a few tables for dining in. If you do dine in, you order at the front and wait for them to call your food out when it’s done. The main issue here is the parking. With the carwash next door, your best bet is to park farther to the left by the Thrift Store or on Normal(the residential street that crosses McKinley) and heel-n-toe it from there. That’s what I did. This isn’t the prettiest place and it’s not in the best location but that’s not the draw here — it’s the food and their tacos are award-winning for a reason. I will definitely be back in the near future. 5 Stars for sure, based off of the food alone.

Food is very fresh. Amazing tacos and burritos! People were not that nice. But I rate the food not people working here. Will comeback for the food

These tacos are fuego, flames, fire, lit. EVERYTHINGISLIT! It depends on what day you catch me on, but these and La Elegante are at the top of my list for best tacos in Fresno. I can only speak on the Asada and Lengua tacos. The meat is marinated to perfection. I love their smokey salsa. It tastes like it was just poured out of a Molcajete. The location is pretty sketch during the later part of the afternoon/night. due to it being hidden and tucked away between a car wash and a liquor store, but what’s a trek to get food without it being an adventure, amirite?! Make sure to make a stop here and support your local taco spots!

What am I thinking? Is the first reaction I got from this place. Me and some friends was hanging out bbqing but the party went on longer than expected. So we gotten hungry later on, closest thing available is this taco shop(of course we had a sober driver :)) long story short, we ordered some lengua tacos and carne asada tacos. Both were really good and by that I mean greasy and juicy in a good way. Being drunk might of helped but that is why I chose 3 stars for now. This is one of my overdue reviews. I shoulda went back sooner to get a sober opinion, but take it for what it is. We all did some damage to those tacos as I remember, so I wouldn’t mind doing it again soon.

Been here a few times, have not been disappointed yet. I’m really picky so all I eat is asada tacos and they are delish. Meat is seasoned to perfection, love the green and red chile salsa. Every time I come I end up ordering seconds. Definitely need to start wearing stretchy pants when I come here!

Hands down the best tacos in Fresno. People may think different but I come here all the time & love it! Carne asada quesadilla & carne asada torta are also bomb. You can’t forget about your horchata they have some bomb horchata.

Ordered the gordita de chicharron en salsa roja(corn masa pocket filled with pork rind in a red sauce/non spicy). Hands down thee best freaking gordita I’ve had other than the ones I make myself at home. The gordita itself was fried(but not greasy) to a crispy golden brown on the outside but still soft on the inside & then filled with the chicharron en salsa — but not just the rind! Nope! It also had pieces of pork meat, can you say«YUM!»?! The gordita is finished off with shredded lettuce, slices of tomato, avocado, queso cotija(think parmesan but even better), & sour cream. Order yourself one of these babies with your choice of meat & an agua fresca to wash it down & you’ve got yourself a delicious meal. **If you come from the school of thought that«comida sin chile no es comida»(food without heat is not food) like I do, then you’ll want to ask for a container or two of their spiciest salsa. A+ friendly service!

I was so looking forward to trying this place after hearing such great things from the last 2 Taco Throwdowns at the Grizzlies Stadium. Huge disappointment. Walked in the other day and ordered 3 carne asada tacos with everything to start. Cost me $ 4.90 with tax. Depending on how they tasted, I was prepared to buy more… but it wasn’t necessary. Sat down and looked them over. Didn’t win me over with looks. Then I tasted them. There was absolutely nothing special about these tacos whatsoever. The corn tortillas were not really cooked well/enough and the meat was just okay. What a let down. For just $ 0.50 cents more, I can get 10 carne asada tacos at Al’s Ricos Tacos on the corner of Ashlan & Marks. Sorry, but I won’t be returning here. Not worth the money in my opinion.
