Being a huge book fanatic, I was thrilled to find Hart’s Haven Bookstore in the Tower District. I was immediately greeted by the owner, who runs and owns the establishment. She was so sweet and very chipper and showed me around the little nook. This place is a book reader’s paradise, with so many books to choose from. It’s wonderful to come across books that have been out of print, which saves money and time from trying to find and order from Amazon. I love history, especially Fresno’s history, so when I came across some old yearbooks dating back 70 years ago, I was absolutely delighted and purchased all of them! I also bought self-help, Greek philosophy, classic literature, psychology, and biographies. The pricing is so very reasonable; $ 1 for paperbacks, $ 2 for hardcovers, or you can fill up a box and only pay $ 10 for everything in the box. I chose the box deal, and I fill up two boxes with about 40 books. I couldn’t think of a better bargain… and all of my books are in such good condition with usual wear, no ripped pages, no breakage on the spines or bindings. Such a quaint little store. The owner is so helpful and very eager to please and she also help me take my boxes to my car with a dolly. I hope that more people shop here, because I want small businesses to stay afloat.

I went to Hart’s last week after reading in the Fresno Bee about the store and new owner. I was not disappointed! I was greeted as soon as I walked in by the owner who is extremely knowledgable and talked to you like see knew you and genuinely happy you stopped by. She asked if I was looking for something specific and where in the store each section were and allowed me to browse at ease. I spent a good hour looking around, finding such a great variety of genres and books that were more recent too! I ending up filling a $ 3 box(I believe this is for July only, August 1st is the re-grand opening with 100, 000 more books on the way!) and was amazed at the high quality of each book, many which appeared to be in great condition. I went during a weekday so I was able to roam freely without much of a crowd, I believe Saturday is the busiest day, but still enough room even if there is a crowd to browse. Great local bookstore… the only thing I would recommend is hopefully a larger selection of audio books in the future.

My family and I came across this bookstore because of their 3 dollar box of books sale. Any book in the entire site is fair game so we drove down to fill a box up, because in my house books are as good as gold and man books are not cheap. The store us a little bit hidden and we actual passed it at first and you have to park on the street but it was well worth it. The new owner of the business(just changed owners July 4th) is trying to make room for new inventory so that is why the books she had are so cheap. The selection was not the best, childrens, non fiction, and cooking were very lacking in selection but the fiction was quite large and we had no problem filing up or box. The store itself is older and could use a little TLC but that’s part of charm if an independent book store. Once the new inventory is in I well definitely be back.

Went here today for the first time, and so glad I did. I can spend hours in a bookstore just browsing, and the owner here(I believe her name was Shirley) was helpful and attentive, but not so much that I felt rushed. The place is huge, and yes, it’s a little disorganized, but not so much that you can’t find what you’re looking for. Hart’s Haven has the cheapest prices I’ve found off the internet. I got a ton of great cookbooks for $ 1 or $ 2 each. All in nice condition. I definitely will become a regular here, and hope they’re in business for a long time.
