My initial suggestion was 2 stars because the staff and management are friendly and helpful but I have to give it 1 star because the quality of the food is horrific. As a mother and a wife that cooks fresh meals at home on a daily basis, I was disgusted to see them serve me frozen and artificial food. My girls wanted to go out and have a good breakfast with mom but it turned into the breakfast from hell. I ordered the ½ lb steak, eggs, and potatoes with the onion and peppers. My girls ordered the hollandaise covered omelette with their potatoes, and a kids flapjacks with scrambled eggs. When I placed the order I specifically told the waitress we wanted fresh eggs not the carton eggs. She said that they always use fresh eggs, that they crack open all the eggs in a container for easy access for the cooks. So I shouldn’t be worried. So I was a bit hesitant but she claimed they were fresh so we placed our order. When our plates arrived, I dug in, I was starving. But my initial bite into the steak was met with an unpleasant taste. At the moment I couldn’t make what that weird taste in my mouth was, until later. It tastes as if the steak was frozen then microwaved to thaw it out but the steak had grilled marks so I was left confused. The only thing I can assume is that they freeze these after their grilled(Who knows how many days ago!) then microwaved when a patron orders it. God I hope I’m wrong. But this is what it tasted like. As for the girls breakfast, the eggs were from a carton. The manager confirmed it after I politely complained about the food. She said she was surprised the server didn’t know and apologized. She was pleasant. They both were. The manager did give us a discount after we declined to have our orders remade. I just felt the need for the public to know of these shortcuts some restaurants use when it comes to their food. In my opinion, if I am paying to eat at a restaurant I expect everything to be fresh. If you cannot provide an item fresh, don’t serve it or take it off the menu. But eating carton eggs and previously grilled frozen steak to later be microwaved and served as fresh? Disgusting. I really loved eating here. Their service was always good, but the food is a disgrace.

The restaurant is very nice looking inside with the NOLA references. The menu also is New Orleans influenced. I had a crest your own omelet and it was tasty and cooked for he way I like it with has Browns which was also good. The biscuit, however, was hard and dry and not very good but the gravy for biscuit was. My friends pancake was good though. I would go again!

The food is outstanding– 5 stars… the service is horrible. 1 star if that. Server Brianna was horrible. Long wait to be greeted and served.

Service was great and my son loved the décor. The food was average but the coffee was better than most«breakfast» places in town. Overall it’s a good option for cheap breakfast/lunch with large portions.

If you’re in search of a good solid breakfast, Huckleberry’s has just what you’re looking for. The restaurant is located in a small shopping center and has plenty of parking. We were slighting discouraged by the amount of people outside waiting for a table, but the wait went by quickly and despite the fact that there were a lot of people, we only had to wait about 10 minutes. They have a nice large waiting area inside and outside with rocking chairs and oversized wooden benches, so even if you have to wait, it a nice space to wait in. Once we were seated I found the restaurant to be a little on the dark side, but the overall décor is really cool and has a bayou feel to it. Our server Carrie was awesome. Carrie was super friendly and patient when it came to ordering, she even remembered names which means she actually paid attention to us and went out of her way to make us feel welcomed and at home. My coffee cup was never empty and she even brought out flavored creamer. My food was perfect and the rest of my party enjoyed their meal as well. Excellent spot for breakfast and I will be sure to return whenever I’m in town.

Our server was friendly, however our food wasn’t the best. I just got a waffle and it was cold my boyfriends food was also cold. We probably won’t be going back.

Fantastic server, average food, clean facility, great location. Back in the old neighborhood and the folks wanted to go to breakfast. Our server made the visit where the food fell short on our May 16 morning visit. The eggs were cooked as ordered and my mom’s bacon was cooked crisp as she likes it. The problem was the potatoes. The home style potatoes were not cooked thoroughly. The biscuit that came with my meal was somewhat doughy. The gravy was uninspired. The food did not match the price asked. All considered the meal experience was nice because of the attentive, caring server and the comfortable and low key ambiance allowed us to visit without being rushed.

Our server was so friendly and the service was excellent — refilled our coffee many times, etc. The food was only okay. The churro beignets were actually sort of bad and dry. They only tasted semi-good because they were covered in cinnamon and sugar. The veggie egg skillet was good, but the biscuit it came with wasn’t that good — dry, not soft or flaky inside.

My wife and I stopped here on a Thursday morning right after the kids were dropped off at school. Took us a couple of minutes to get seated because our waitress was also having to act as hostess. Once we sat down we got our drinks relatively quick but then it took a while to place our order since once again our waitress was having to continue to play hostess. Once we got our order taken the food came out quickly and it was great!!! Wife ordered the special Hash Skillet and I got the Tom’s scramble(yeah, i really like gravy). If I were to make any suggestions it would be for the manager to make sure that there is a hostess available so that the waitresses can focus on taking orders and waiting on customers as opposed to having to monitor the door too. Our waitress(Kari) was basically running the front of the restaurant and she was running around with a purpose and doing a pretty good job of it, but as I said there should be no reason why that should be the case.

Not exactly sure why this place is so popular really. I guess there’s not many brunch/breakfast places in Fresno that’s great to eat at. This place is way too overpriced for the quality, portion, and service. They are all sub-par. Maybe it’s from my picky pallet and expectation for restaurants now a days since I’ve been living in the bay for the last few years, so the return to the central valley for breakfast on visits gives me high expectations. Service — 1 star for always being slow and taking forever to get waters and seated. Food –1 star for having super greasy and small portions for a $ 10+ breakfast Price –1 star for charging $ 10 for some scrambled eggs and bread or some combo of that sort Go if you don’t mind any of the above.

Yikes, this was one of the worst breakfasts I’ve had in a long time. A relative we were visiting wanted to take us here because they were a big fan of the food. Why? I ordered an omelet, and there was so much cheese in it that it was almost inedible. Without exaggerating, the thing was half cheese. The eggs were dried out and way overcooked. I ordered the potatoes with onions and peppers and was given plain potatoes instead. They were dried out and bland. The service was friendly but slow. The other couple in our party received their meals 10 minutes before we did. I haven’t lived in Fresno for 15 years, so I guess I forgot to lower my culinary standards before returning.

Well, I typically hate leaving reviews like this, but I have to. My fiancé and I visited here on Friday when we decided to have a «breakfast date». We wanted to try somewhere new(as we typically eat at either Le Parisien or Benaddiction for breakfast) and I had never been here before. From the start, the ambience was cute and southern inspired. The girl who took down our name for a wait list was nice enough and the wait was only about 5 – 10 minutes. No complaints here. Although, I did notice that a group a few people in front of us left the line because they’d been skipped – I guess the people seating don’t check the outside benches when calling people’s names for tables. The satisfaction went downhill after we were sat. It’s not that there were definitive«problems» with our visit, it just wasn’t good. Our server, Brianna?, came to the table exactly three times – once to take the order, once to drop off the food, and once to drop off the check. She never checked if our food came out great, she never brought a water refill, nothing, and the restaurant was not very busy. Now the actual food. We ordered the New Orleans, The Big Easy with fruit, and two slices of French Toast. –The New Orleans was good. A mix of eggs, andouille sausage, shrimp, tomatoes, and such. I could eat this again. It came served on a hot skillet. I have no complaints. It also came with your choice of toast, I got a biscuit, the biscuit was delicious. –The french toast was good. My fiancé liked it. He loves french toast. –The Big Easy was… bad. Just bad. Now, I will warn that here is maybe where my Benaddiction bias shows.(If you have never been there, it specializes in eggs benedict.) The hollandaise sauce was bland and the eggs were a little over poached, which is pretty important for this dish. The overall plate was lukewarm and there were pieces of something, onions maybe?, that were actually downright cold. The dish came with a side of fruit that was… not fresh. I ate the grapes and the melon, and part of the strawberry, but all of the blueberries were withered and sad looking. Overall, I normally would be willing to overlook the eggs benedict and just try something else that maybe they specialize more in,(Biscuits and gravy, maybe, or the customizable omelette), but combined with the mediocre service, I don’t think we’ll be back.

Very good breakfast place. I will be back to try other items. I was very happy with our server Will. He was very knowledgable with the items on the menus. All in all with a $ 10 tip. Breakfast for 2 was only $ 35! I love it!

On a trip to Yellowstone, I learned the meaning of the phrase, «I’m your huckleberry.» It related to the fact that the berries were reportedly hard to find(and were very tasty) so people were always looking for them; turns out bears like them a lot too. Huckleberry=is what you’re looking for. Anywhoo, I was anxious to try the breakfast here at Huckleberry’s. Would the pancakes compete with my other Fresno favorites at Jus Jo’s or Batter Up? I ordered the full stack of sweet cream flapjacks, eggs, and sausage, and my dining compatriot ordered the Louisiana breakfast skillet(with mashed potatoes, white gravy, and meatloaf). Overall, the pancakes were just ‘ok’, they tasted much like cake batter and were a bit too sweet. They weren’t greasy though so that was a plus. The Louisiana breakfast skillet was really good; however, I recommend they tone-down the gravy there was just too much. The restaurant was mildly busy for Saturday brunch. They have the breakfast all day I think which is a good thing. The service was ok(the waiters were really nice but slow to take the bill) and the atmosphere was interesting. For example, I looked up in the corner and saw a Huckleberry Fin mock up(see pic). I was reminded of DisneyWorld for some reason. Prices were reasonable too. I would go back but it wouldn’t be my first choice for pancakes, I’d try something different next time.

The wait wasn’t too bad for a Sunday morning(10 – 15 minutes.) the host and hostess were very pleasant and welcoming. We ordered the Cajun Eggs Benedict and the Cajun Hot Link Omlette. The Benedict was superbly cooked and the eggs perfectly poached. It also came with a hot link grilled and sliced in half. The Cajun Omelette was great. I asked for the creole sauce on the side because I was afraid of the spices involved. It came with two flapjacks that were impeccable! The side of salsa paired well with the Omelette. A waiter came to our table and asked us to try the three various flavored beignets and said they were on the house. That wasn’t true because our waitress, who started off loud, still charged us for them. I didn’t want to argue the gesture, but she should’ve at least said, she didn’t know we ordered those. Overall it’s a great breakfast place

I really enjoyed this breakfast/lunch joint while in Fresno. As soon as you walk in, you notice the bayou themed décor — like if you were eating inside Splash Mountain at Disneyland. I know that’s probably a weird analogy, but it was very Louisiana like but almost theatrical in nature. For a Wednesday morning, there were a good amount of people having breakfast. I knew that was a good sign. We were seated pretty fast and the guy that showed us to our seats immediately took our drink orders. I wish I could remember his name, but he was awesome. He literally came by our table every 10 minutes to freshen our cups of coffee without even having to be asked. What we ate: — Stuffed French Toast: This was my favorite thing… maybe even my favorite breakfast item while in Fresno. It was two thick slices of fluffy toast with cream cheese in the middle. You get your choice of fruit topping and we of course had to go with the restaurant’s namesake(huckleberries). This was a generous portion. It’s pretty sweet with all of these components already, so you don’t need any additional sauce and I highly recommend. If you’re sharing — it’s a must! — On the Border Skillet: We opted for this due to the Unilocal photos. It was good, but not our favorite thing. It was definitely a hefty serving full of eggs, green chiles, tomatoes, onions, and Jack cheese garnished with sour cream, salsa and avocado. I added additional hot sauce to mine as the salsa didn’t have the heat I was looking for. I recommend if you’re really hungry. You also get your choice of toast, muffin or biscuits and gravy. We went with the biscuits and they did not disappoint. They come in a serving of two and the gravy that comes lathered on top was quite delicious. This is going to be my go-to breakfast spot whenever I’m in Fresno. I can’t pass up the opportunity to have more of that French toast!
