What a gem! Definitely make a stop by if you’ve never been! They have an adorable shop that’s open to the public where they sell not only bakery products, but also gifts, and small trinkets like jewelry and herbal tea. This is still a family owned business, I was greeted by their daughter who works the front store. She was very friendly, and open to any questions about their food products. You can pick up a box of their baklava, or buy them separately from the front counter. You can also pick up other Armenian specialties from their bakery. Great place to go if you’re looking for Armenian bakery, or for small gifts!

Shars hahmov eh!(It’s very tasty!) The best Armenian cracker bread available. Great as is or misted with water and wrapped in a linen towel to soften. Also the ubiquitous bread for«Hye» Roller sammies/appetizers. If you’re looking for deli items, gifts, sundries etc, take the time to peruse the front. Wonderful 3rd generation business, friendly owner/operators and staff. These good folks ship ANYWHERE and regularly ship to shops all over N America(maybe globally). Fresno is lucky to have such a gem. This is a Downtown business. Admirable.

I’ve been buying the sesame wheat lavash from Hye Quality Bakery for years. I used to purchase from Valley Lahvash, but they downsized the number of crackers you get in each package, while increasing the price. With Hye Quality Bakery being just down the street, I gave them a try. In comparing the two bakeries I found the Hye Quality to have a lighter texture. The Valley Lavash cracker was too hard and clunky. Maybe this is why my grandmother always splashed the Valley Lavash with water before eating? I know that Valley Lavash gets all the fame and glamor. They have been in business longer than Hye Quality. They have a fancy website with recommendations from major newspapers. They have Facebook and a colorful website. Don’t let all that fool you! When you go to the store you are greeted by one employee, who just basically, is a cashier. Most likely they never grew up eating Armenian food, and can not exchange in a food conversation. At Hye Quality Bakery, on the other hand, you are greeted by someone versed in Armenian cuisine. You generally see three generations of family on any given visit. They are personable and friendly, passing down good work ethics to their great and grand children. Hye Quality ships their product world wide, but they bring down home charm to the local customer. Their premises are always spic and span. I love supporting a wholesome company with a great product, at a great price with great family values!

I love this place! It is my secret spot for the best crackers, string cheese, and Hye rollers. Not to mention the homemade cheese berag. And I already mentioned the string cheese, but I just can’t get enough. And everyone is so nice there!
