Mattie’s Wood Fired Pizza & Catering

coughing up a storm, and forgot to take something before work, i run over to CVS on my lunch break, figuring i’ll pop around the corner and grab a burger too while i’m nearby, as i’ve heard good things about a certain burger place.
however, on my way by, i see a few of the food trucks set up, and Mattie’s is one of them… and all of a sudden pizza sounds better than a burger. got the ‘soprano’, which is pepperoni, salami, (i think ham), and minced garlic. little steep at $ 9, and a little greasy, which is excusable for an all meat pizza. wait was minimal (5 – 10 mins) given it was made and baked to order.
pricing being what it is, i don’t know if i’ll be back OFTEN, but it’s definitely a nice option to have, and wouldn’t hesitate to come back if they’re on fulton on a regular basis.

The food is good but the wait is way to long. I assumed it was going to be about 10mins to make the pizza and asked the guy that took my order. He said about 5 to 10 mins but it took over 40mins just too get this little Personal pizza. Im just disappointed. If they knew they had alot of orders ahead of me, be conservative and be realistic about the wait time.

This was delish! The toppings are fresh and not oily. They have gluten free options, quick and easy. The starter salad and berry cobbler dessert were amazing, just overall delicious, will definitely use them again for catering. Great staff as well

Very good pizza! I always get the margarita pizza! The prices are around $ 8 for a pizza about the size of a regular disposable plate. I used to buy a pizza every time I was in river park for the farmers market. If you’re looking for a quick eat that is also satisfying, this place is definitely a place to consider.

I just had a wicked pizza at the home show and it was amazing. It had pesto, bacon, tomatoes and cheese. The crust was perfectly crisp but not hard, alk of the ingredients were fresh and flavorful. The personal pizza was $ 9 but definitely worth it.

Saw it at the fullerton mall for taco truck Thursday and I had to try it. Heard about it. It was as good as I had heard. It’s worth finding them and giving it a try. Just what I have been wanting from a pizza for a long time.

My husband and I enjoyed this pizza at last weekend’s Clovis Brewfest. We ordered the Margherita pizza, which was wonderful. The crust was great, the sauce definitely was not overwhelming. The service was fast and it was just enough to meet our needs. The prices were also very reasonable and we definitely will be return customers to Mattie’s!

Mattie’s food is DELICIOUS! Their pizza is delicious and skillfully crafted. Excellent flavor. After hitting them up at CartHop a couple times, we enquired about them catering our wedding. We met with Matt a handful of times and were very impressed with him. They ended up doing a fabulous job at our wedding! Nobody waited long to be served– (very quick service– and we had about 240 guests!) and everyone LOVED the food! I am so glad that we have this gem in Fresno! Easily some of the best quality food in our city! I highly recommend them if you are looking for some unique and delicious catering for an event!

This pizza is amazing!!! The crust is thin just the way I like it with tons of flavor! The toppings are all fresh and delicious. Tonight I got the caramelized onions and bleu cheese, wow! So good I devoured the pizza within minutes.
I love the new truck they have, it’s custom made and looks awesome!!!
This place is a must try!

very good & tasting unique pizzas!

Being that pizza is my favorite food i was very hesitant on trying this place, I’m pissed i didn’t try it sooner! I ordered the plain pep, the price eh? A little much for my tatse, but so worth it! The service was awesome very nice staff! And the zaa it self! Man just what I was looking for!
update– The shop closed next to my office so now i can only catch them on cart-​hop, on Thursday in downtown Fresno. i loved Mattie’s pizza like i said Matt him self is such a nice guy and his staff are the same warm and make you fell at home.

Mattie’s Wood Fired Pizza has been a tremendous addition to the downtown area. I, like the previous poster, work in the downtown area and the only reason I eat downtown is because I work there. On my lunch time, I do not roam the Fulton Mall, as I already know all that there is: a whole lot of nothing.
I first tried Mattie’s at CartHOP and I was impressed. The ingredients are fresh and organic. It is hard to find that anywhere in Fresno; let alone downtown. I was so excited to learn they had opened a storefront location and I ate there today. I had the special with Alfredo Sauce, Chicken, carmelized oninons and some cheese I cannot spell. It was wonderful!
If you work downtown, or will be visiting downtown to go to the ice skating rink, give them a try! Remember: you get what you pay for.

Mattie’s awesome pizza & ice skating — A perfect match made in Downtown Fresno!

I work downtown in the Fulton Mall area. The only reason I even go downtown is only because I work there. So on my lunch time at noon I usually have to roam the Fulton mall for somewhere to eat. Usually I go to a little Mexican hole in the wall called Cocina de Mama, but as I walking by that place today I noticed that right next to it, a new business opened up. This place is is called «Mattie’s Mobile Wood Fired Pizza».
Until walking by it today, I had never heard of this place. So I guess today was their grand opening. The only reason I walked in was because I saw a glowing light that said «open» was turned on. So I thought I would give this place a try.
So I ordered the Pepperoni Pizza. It was $ 7.00 for a personal sized pizza.
When I placed my order at the window I said «to go».
So like 5 minutes later my order is ready, and my personal pizza is given to me on a paper plate.
If the place had been busy, I would have understood that they didn’t hear me when I said «to go» but I was the only customer there. You would think if I was their 1^st or 2^nd customer they would focus on making a good impression.
Well so the lady took my pizza served on a paper plate and just covered it with foil.
I didn’t even get a napkin or saw any napkins anywhere on the tables.
Awesome. Fabulous grand opening! I recognize a grand opening of a business is no time to judge a place for it’s amenities or service.
So then I thought, well at least if the pizza is good that might make up for it. So my personnel pepperoni was like a thin crust pizza. Parts of the bottom of the crust had burn marks and I could taste some of the burned parts.
I will not be going back to this place.
If this place was in river park $ 7 would be understandable and then maybe if the pizza was good, but it’s not.
Pizza Factory is way better pizza.
This place reminds me of hipsters trying to charge premium prices right in the middle of an area where there are a bunch of homeless or panhandlers always walking around.
I walk right by this location every day to get to work. I guess the owners aren’t aware that in the area right outside their doors all kinds of homeless, riff raff and panhandlers congregate ever morning and throughout out the day.
If I was opening a business this is the last place I would put it.

Matt and his crew catered our wedding this past Saturday. It was the most delicious wedding food ever! Great Pizzas! We also did a pasta action station. All of the ingredients were fresh, organic, and unique. It was such a wonderful experience. They were so accomodating, and the presentation was lovely. Thank you so much Matt and crew!
